  1. A goalkeeping coach/back-up keeper

    A very part-time coach

2 Youth coaches who are 1st team players

That 4 coaches, seems like bare bones material to me. How does that compare to other teams in the 1st division?

Not being funny but what does McCall actually do?

  2. After the match yesterday there was just a few boos and that was it,no big protest or even shouts of sack the board you would not think our club was in the mess it is in.Our club is dying on its feet and things need to change urgently or imo this will be the last season of PTFC.

  3. How can a team with as many coaches as we have be so uselless at dead ball situations? We cant defend them and we very rarely score from them also when we go a goal down the game is over but when we we go a goal ahead we still lose.

  4. I know i will be told all the money has to go to the bank. But we have had a few cup ties against Rangers, get told by the board we have done well by the Greaves deal, sold Harkins and twaddle, get the rugby money every season and the Propco deal.we dont pay the highest wages and on average our crowds are around about the 4th best in the league. But we look as if we will be p/t next season, unless we are the first of a number of clubs to do this for next season it does not add up for me.If we do go p/t where does that leave McColl, will he also be p/t?and surely we will not need the same amount of coaches?

  5. Imo the squad has not changed enough, only 2 new players in.I think it would have been different if 2010 had been a good year for us, but our league results this year have been very poor and so far this season nothing has changed, when we go behind we just dont seem to be able to come back. Also the loss of form by Liam is worrying as we dont have anybody else who is going to score.Anybody heard anything with regard to any last minute ins or outs before the window shuts?

  6. So far we have played 3 away league games and lost all 3.1 home league game which we won.Imo if we beat Stirling Albion at Firhill it looks as if we will do well at home, but we have a problem with away games which our management will need to sort out.BUT if we were to draw or lose to Stirling Albion it looks as if we have a big problem which i think would only be solved with a change of manager.

  7. The only two worth keeping appear to be Beattie and Allan. Bannerman has been a big disappointment to me. Everybody knows he is a jagsman but just what has he done since he came to the club. He paid the going rate for his shares but appears to have done bugger all since. We need him, Beattie and Allan to do what other club directors do....dip into their pockets! As for Cowan and Hughes, they have outlived their stay by about 6 years. Time for change

I agree with you about time for change, but would the chaos that relegation would cause be enough to move them.If as alot of fans seem to think happens and we went part time next season imo if we dont go down this season we would next season and another point if did go part time where would that leave our current manager would he go part time?

  8. The choice of the fans would probably be Jaggy McNamara, not really sure why though, just as experienced/inexperienced as Maxy/Cameron/Archie/Hinchy, who would all be in the frame.

IF McCall was to go, I don't think he will, the job will go to one of the above, imo.

I dont remember us having any success with inexperinced managers. If McCall went i dont know who we would get.

  9. We have 1 of if not the most experinced managers in this league but he seems to have lost it.Not just this season but for all of this year.If i am correct we have played 23 league games in 2010 and lost 15 and yet we only signed 1 new player and got another on loan,We have not scored many goals but we do not sign any goal scorers for this season.I know money is short but as i said on another post do we rally need as many player/coaches?

  10. For what it is worth , i admired his honesty. I don't blame him for not walking away or even indicating he will. Think we do need jackie and archie back into the team sooner rather than later.

Dont think they will make a big difference. We need someone who can score goals.

Did think, given we have mostly the same squad as last season, he would have found a system that suits the players we have by now. that does alarm me somewhat.

    Agree

this is not the worst time our club has gone through (and a good few of you would do well to remember that) but it is certainly no fun at the moment and things need to improve and improve fast.

I have supported Thistle for over 50years and agree we have seen worse times. But if we were to go down this season i think it would be the end of our club.I used to blame our board 100% but i now feel our manager is equally to blame.Do we really need so many player coaches and if we do what are they doing? Because going by our results so far this season it is not working. If we didnt have so many player/coaches we might have 1 or 2 younger better players in our squad. Also when was the last time we signed a player who has made a big difference to the squad?Although Flannigan looks a not bad player i have not been impressed by any of our signings over the past couple of seasons.

  11. Its the inconsistency that will kill us. We could go out and beat Falkirk 4-0 on Tuesday, however we will still lose 2-0 to Cowdenbeath on Saturday.

In order to gain a bit of financial prosperity a run in all of the cups is a must, an away game against one of the Old F**m will help us out a lot.

Any money we get from the cup will go straight to the bank imo,it will not be used to improve the team

  12. I have been thinking about all the players we have on our books, and i would not be sorry if any of them left our club. There is none that ifeel can change the game in our favour or any match winners.I also feel the same about our manager.I have been supporting Thistle for over 50years and i dont remember feeling this way about the club.Is it just me or is there othere who feel the same?

  13. I don't think Flannigan nor Balatoni can be said to have much of a pre-season, Grehan has hardly had a first team run out, Halliwell was left hanging for a contract for how long, Kinniburugh has been playing more for Clyde than us recently. I take your point that the core of the team is the same old, but it's not exactly a settled team either. I wonder what the point of a pre-season is if we're not going to sign players until the season actually starts?

Grehan and Balatoni did not start.Hlliwell played afew times last season and as for Kinniburugh we all know what he is like.Isaid to my son before the start of the season we will struggle badly this season as we cannot score and so for this season i have seen nothing to change my mind.Did we not go 7 games in a row lat season without scoring? and our forwards are the exact same this season. You say it is not a settled team who else do we have apart fom Archibald and Macnamara?

  14. The Board have to accept some responsibility. Yes we've got a debt to service but we were told that the sale of Harkins and Twaddle would put some money into the Players Budget, as would Propco. It doesn't look that way to me, and we're still fielding the same crap that failed to compete last season. Signing new players at the last possible minute just to save money has backfired as the team didn't get a chance to gel in pre-season. Today's gubbing will undoubtedly have an effect on the walk up ticket sales next week. And so we descend another circle towards hell.

However, McCall also has to take responsibility for using his limited resources to re-sign the liability that is Bombscare Wullie plus the rest of the geriatric defense. WK red carding cost us two goals, I'm just guessing but I imagine he was running about all day with his arms flailing around him dangerously again...

Next week has got to see a massive improvement.

This team has been playing together for the majority of this year.Only Flannigan was a new signing that started today.I am sick of us signing old players as player coaches.A lot of our managers decisions over the past year or so have been strange.I see Doolan is out of the 16 again,we will probably extend his contract and put him out on loan.
