I've often thought Thomas would be a great addition.
Having said that, recruiting a number 10 when we have McIntory, Alston, Robinson and Lyon picking up a wage feels like overkill. I'd be happier if we were trimming the squad in that area before recruiting there, or sticking with what we have.
If he's signed for the wing, I'd again question the need when we have Lawless and Fitzy who are both better than him imo (though, to reiterate, I do rate him highly).
Thomas feels like the right answer to the wrong question.
Have to agree that he is a great player and one that I would love to see in a Thistle shirt. My concern is that it would use up resources when we have far more urgent priorities to address. We have already wasted some of them on a 4th keeper. If there is some way we can land him (and Paton) in the summer I’d be very happy

There will still be some who will want Dools sacked and McCall returned even though we are now closer to top than 5th

After driving for 10 hours across France, I arrive at the Channel Tunnel to see the score. Nothing to moan about. Come on Jags, give me something to be grumpy about on the 3 hour wait for our crossing
PS. Well done Jags. Sounds like a good performance and could have been more. Other results going our way could get us back in the race

Graham will not be dropped. He is the captain. When fit, Sneddon, McMillan, Milne, Aero, Neilson, Fitz, Lawless and Graham are guaranteed to start.
That just leaves 3 in midfield from Banzo, Stanway,McInroy, Alston and McBeth. Historicaly Dools doesn’t make unforced changes

Efficiently getting rid of the deadwood. Now let’s see some new faces

You are more than likely right. However, last 3 games we have been slow out the blocks. Hope it isn’t a trend.
As long as we win it doesn’t matter if it is a trend

Good win in the end! Fitz and lawless caused them lot of bother but Graham very quiet again. Would like to see young diack get a run as thought he was good v Airdrie and in his shirt spell v United. Brainless play by muirhead at the end ensured nervous last 5 mins but well clear in third.
Graham is the captain. He will not be dropped.

Neilson could also have picked up a red card just after their first goal. Could easily have ended 9 v 10

Both assertions are unsupported .
But not unreasonable

Take the 3 points and move on. Should have won more easily, but a win is a win

Nice to see our corners aye yielding results. Peach header.
But every time we score from one, we immediately concede

The Queen’s sub Stuart. McKinstry. Any relation to Banjo ?

Phew. Feel slightly more comfortable now.

Mitchell again missing. Mcbeth on the bench

It's an interesting one. When their link-up play works it's great to watch, and has been important for us, but an increasing number of people have suggested that other teams have sussed it out. You could argue that if they need to devote three or four people to deal with it then that leaves other spaces for us to exploit, and Lawless is definitely capable of whipping in unexpected and dangerous crosses.
I hope McMillan stays, but if an excellent offer came in and he expresses a desire to move, then so be it.
My thought was that say Hearts had offered him a PCA (they have been rumoured to be watching him) then maybe a deal could be done to take him early and maybe we get someone in return, or some better than average loans

On a similar thought, Jack has not signed an extension, I presume one has been offered, so I expect he will be off in the summer. Should we cash in now if we get an offer ?

Some interesting comments in the Summer signings thread, particularly around the quality of the recruitment at Raith.
I don’t think that there is much difference between ours and Raith performance outside the last 10-15 minutes of matches. There was a recent thread that showed how the table would look after 80 minutes of every game and and we were doing much better at that point. Clearly we need to close out games better and we already know that the defensive unit is an issue
I think we will probably stay 3rd from here to the end of the season, which is better than I predicted in the summer, so verdict is decent but could have been better and clear areas for improvement.

I wonder what the situation is with Mitchell ? He can’t be happy with the game time he is getting and it seems like a luxury to have 2 first team keepers. I wonder if he might be off and a young loan keeper brought in as cover for Sneddon who is clearly first choice
-
It is certainly the position that we needed. Maybe one looking towards next season but will hopefully contribute in the rest of this one

I raised the question about Tiffoney and Turner bring possible loan acquisitions solely because they were very good players for us under Doolan and are not certain starters at their clubs. I also asked would we want them back not because of anything to do with the manner of their leaving or doubts about their commitment but solely because of the squad we have and whether their return would create and overload of midfield and wide players.
I agree a defensive midfielder is a priority but I would have Tiffoney and Turner (and Holt, not sure about Docherty) back in a jiffy!!
Why do we have to go back to former players ? There are others. Move on.
Turner and Tiffoney we don’t need. They are not positions where we have a problem. Scoring and creating goals is not our issue. We need players at the other end.

I wonder if that was our good or our bad half.

Not sure what to expect today. No reason to suppose we won't score a few goals. At the same time we're likely to leave the defence over exposed. Then again just as oppositions know how to exploit our main weakness we are at least getting used to our deep defending.
With Thistle it is easy. Expect the unexpected.

Chance to close the gap after a favourable couple of draws tonight.
But yet again Raith get an injury time goal. How do they keep doing it ?

If you include Fitz and Lawless as midfielders then I can get to 11 without thinking
