  1. Looking at our next 3 games, we have 2 very winnable fixtures at home to Raith and Queens. We then go to Dingwall on a bit of a run, so who knows, maybe a win there too. Meenwhile Ross have to face Dundee and Falkirk, two matches that they could easily loose.

As we play Hamilton on the Friday, it is not impossible that we could go top for 24 hours !

Well ..... It could happen !

  2. OK, I'm going to sound stupid, but I've not got to this age without sounding stupid before.

I guess the answer is Partick Thistle or it wouldn't be on this forum, but how the **** do you get that answer from that clue ?

  3. There realy are only 2 contenders. Clarke and Cavendish. The Clarke story of his wife's cancer through to winning the open is sure to get votes. Just a shame there is another N.Irish golfer on the list to split that vote. If it is a personality then Clarke gets it. If it is sporting acheivement Cavendish has just blown the rest of the world away and in my opinion he has to win the award. The athletes, cricketers, golfers and boxers are just making up numbers. As for Murray, I am a fan, but he has won eff all and has no personality.

  4. In a rush to get out the house i forgot to grab my hat amd scarf that i had at the Dundee game, so its might also be my fault, although i had my lucky socks on, so i am in a dilemma, do i throw the socks out, or do i hold onto them and wear them at the next game with the hat and scarf, and see what happens?

I had a coffee out of my lucky Thistle mug on Friday night. I never use that mug on any day other than a Saturday. It's my fault.

  5. I think the club should make the replay a fiver to get in and free entry for kids. We should perform better on a wider and bigger pitch.

And do Culter out of the gate money they deserve.

Lets just put this behind us, stick a few past them at Firhill and learn from the experience. As many others have said, our name is in the hat for the next round.

  6. My ST Mirren supporting mate says he's a good wee player with an eye for goal, but gets brushed off the ball far too easily.

May be prone to trying to win the Pen, rather than staying up and trying a shot.

Still...if he gets pens for us.....

    Oh please .... please ..... please .....

Can we have a blatant dive t Dens that produces the winning penalty :)

  7. I hate the current home shirt. It is just not unique enough and could be almost any clubs shirt. It has to be wide red and yellow stripes or hoops and I really don't care which. Having said that, and having hated the jester top, this effort from Galatasaray looks pretty good

This season's away strip is a cracker and away should always be all black with red and yellow trim or all white with red, yellow and black trim

  8. I don't think it is any big shock that Hibs are looking for a new boss early in the season and I'm sure that the usual suspects of failed SPL managers will be touted for the job, but I was wondering if a return for Derek Adams might be on the cards ? May be a bit soon after he left, but he has sorted our Ross, and him going could only be of benefit to the rest of us.

  9. 24th April 1971 - Stranraer 3-0. My next door neighbour took me for the last game of the season. I can remember standing towards the back of the old North terrace and it was a pretty big crowd as we had wrapped up the league title the week before. I can't remember why, but 3-0 was significant as it ment we qualified for the Drybrough's Cup (or some other diddy competition).

Some good games the following season :D

  10. For what its worth I think Scotland are not too far off having a reasonable team, with more of our young players heading to the English Premier it looking pretty good. Its too bad then we have an eejit like Levein in charge! This bloke should have been sacked for playing with no forwards in Prague, that one game says it all, he's not good enough! Then he gets a game against Brazil, we are predictably humped, we drop in rankings and enter the World Cup Qualifiers in Pot 4 rather than Pot 3 and he says the drubbing was a worthwhile exercise!!!

I agree that Stephen Fletcher should be a shoe in, I wonder also why Barry Robson didn't get a game, he has been outstanding for Middlesbrough and has genuine flair.

Time to ship out Levein and with this bunch of players a decent manager might achieve something - not could we not get Craig Brown back? is Tommy Docherty still alive? George Graham isn't doing too much these days? or th special one, John Lambie!!

Very much so. He lives not far from me and is a genuine nice guy. Doesn't have a good word to say for Sir Alex though.

  11. Agreed.but when we beat Lithuania, they will have nothing to play for against the Czechs.

    That big worries me.

Yeh, but Spain will have qualified before we play them, so by the same argument, when we go to Spain, Brown and Fletcher could run rings round Xavi and Iniesta

  12. Ever the optimist, I don't think that we are out of it yet. Assuming that Spain beat both us and the Czechs, I don't fancy their chances of going to Lithuania needing to get 3 points. 2 wins for us, starting tonight might well be enough.

(Hey .... we are due a wee bit of luck after Saturday)

  13. Living down south, I am a bit remote from what is happening and have to rely on the official site and forums such as this to keep up to date with what is going on at Firhill. I have been trying to get my head round what has been going on here.

Some guys we don't like very much wanted to change the club rules to give themselves more power. These guys may have conflicting interest as they have investments in the "propco" project. They were stopped by some guys we like even less who were probably looking after their own interests. The guys that we don't like very much have significant investments in Thistle and there is a fear that they may now ask for their money back, money that we just don't have.

Is that a reasonable summary ?
