  1. Frans o Freddie

    Welcome to Firhill

    6’ 4” Defender now you’re talking Archie

All we need now is 6’ 4”, 30 goals a season man to neighbur Dools

Why does the hight matter ? If this mythical player can score 30 goals a season, I wouldn't mind if he was 4' 4"

  2. We have Ecclestone now, so I can't see us needing 3 strikers. Maybe a move in the summer depending on how things work out. Now if Barcelona were to put in a £50,000,000 bid for Dools then maybe Lyle would be a good replacement, but I just can't see us needing more than Dools and Big Ecc this season.

  3. decent 3 points I suppose considering ROI had to score a last minute winner to beat them. It was probably the most comfortable 1-0 I've seen in ages (apart from that shot they missed from 12 yards).

Poland beating Germany 2-0 now screws the group up big time, we're going to need to win every home game, take 4 points from Poland and ROI away and also beat Gibraltar and Georgia away. I can't see that happening, I think we'll be lucky to see 1 point from Poland and ROI away to be honest.

Or match Poland and beat Germany at Hampden/Ibrox/Parkhead/Murryfield or wherever the game is played.

  4. 12th September 1998. Beat Stirling Albion 1-0 at Firhill. Nothing memorable about that. The Bino's player being dragged from the field by their manager after a red card, different, but not hugely memorable. What does make this game stick in the mind is that it was the last time I saw a player who was older than me score. Tommy Bryce was the player/manager and headed in the only goal. I'm pretty sure that is a personal record that will now survive.

  5. Did McMillan not play central defence for Dunfermline ? If McMillan is at rightback, then I'd like to see SOD infront of him on the right. He has played that role very well before,

Is Higgy banned from this game for picking up 5 yellow cards, or is that the next league game ?

As captain, I just can't see Stevenson getting dropped

  6. All 4 goals in 1971 for me. It was humiliation for a Celtic side that contained Lisbon Lions and a young Dalglish. Most of them played in the final of the European Cup against Feyenoord too.

More recently, I still love Chic Charnley's 35 yard screamer against Celtic in Kenny Arthur's testimonial. It was great to see him roll back the years. Unfortunately, the YouTube video seems to have been deleted.

It had been a while since I had watched my dvd of that match, but I did so about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I had remembered all of the goals as absolute crackers and all potential for goal of the season. Rae's (in my mind was a thunderbolt from about 30 yards out. What struck me is how crappy each goal was. The Celtic defending was absolutely shocking. I guess it's a case of the older I get, the better I was.

Having said that, offer it now and I'd take 4 crappy goals to beat Celtic 4-1 in this season's final.

  7. I wish it was Thiago Silva or Giorgio Chiellini who was training with us and looking for a club as we could easily find place for them. That said, McFadden or Pearson would be great additions to our squad and I would certainly rather have either in my team than playing against me.

  8. Ah but !

The title of the thread is "greatest goal" nothing about aesthetics. I have to agree with our good Lady and say that the goals from Gibson and Ritchie probably changed the history of our club. Had they not gone in, then I suspect that we would now be a part time club in the 3rd or 4th tier, or out of business by now.
