  1. I'm going to be controvertial here and suggest that the SFA/SFL would be right to do nothing until the Dundee situation is sorted out. Much as I dislike Dundee, the governing bodies should be doing what is right for Scottish Football and I would argue that Scottish football is better with Dundee FC in some form rather than Beith or Spartans or Teuchter Utd. Penalising Dundee now would make it very hard to find the new buyer that the club needs to survive and the survival of Dundee FC should, rightly be the priority of the SFA/SFL.

A statement that they will review the situation in January would give the club a fighting chance.

  2. It also appears Dundee's chiefe executive has been in contact with a few fans to confirm the following are being retained:

Douglas, Irvine, Weston, Harkins, Griffiths, Benedictus, Riley, Higgins, Forsyth, O'Donnell McKeown and Witeveen.

Smith must be staying as he is assistant

  3. It depends on whether they end up in Admin or Liquidation. If Admin, Dundee can't come out until football debts are settled in full (ie pay the lot or come to an agreement with us). If it is Liquidation, we become just one of the creditors

  4. What cost cutting? Looks like they want to keep all the high earners.

    saleable assets

The club need cash, and it will cost them to get rid of Harkins, Griffiths etc, assets that they can sell in January. If the administrator was to get rid of them he would not be doing his job. He has to get rid of stuff that he can't get any money for and keep the stuff he can sell.

  5. As in the case of Leeds Utd a few years ago.

Therefore, a two year spread, in some situations, would make some sense.

Edited to add that I think the Football League were wise to this and took the points off them the following season after relegation.

I think that down here, the club suffer a points deduction every season that they are in administration, so if Dundee go into administration this season, they get a penalty. If they don't come out before next season starts, another penalty. I do think that is fair on other clubs.

Automatically relegating Dundee now would have consequences on Dundee's ability to come out of administration, and on the finances of other clubs. If they had nothing to play for, who would come to watch ? Also, presumably the remaining clubs would be fighting to avoid the play-off spot. What happens if a second club goes into admin ? Who would be in the play off now ?

  6. Why not just have an end of season playoff for the title like they do in rugby

3rd plays 6th and 4th plays 5th. The winners of these two games play the top 2 in semi finals. That will reward those who do well in the "normal" season and generate some end of season entertainment which the TV companies will like.

  7. Not that I disagree with you, DD, but the last team he put out was not exactly world beaters or indeed full of grit & confidence. For the record.....

    Arthur

    Anis

    Murray

    MadAussie

    Milne

    Mitchell

    Gibson

    Fleming

    Strachan

    One

    Ramon

A few rather delicate characters in there but still managed a very creditable draw at Love St.

God ! You have to let the facts get in the way of a good memory. May be I'm getting old, but from what I recall, the great one won every match by 5 goals or more !

  8. As many have said, if McCall was to leave, the only experienced managers that we could afford are known to be failures. I would much rather that we gave new blood a chance and maybe unveil a future gem. It is a gamble I know, but would Jaggy or Sid or Maxy be worse than those listed above ?

  9. I have voted yes.

The cost of sacking him is one thing, but I'm mot sure that there is too much wrong that can't be fixed with a bit of confidence. OK, so we have lost the last 3 games by 2 goals to 1, but had we held onto the lead in each of them, we would now be sitting in 4th place, just 3 points off the lead. I know that it is easy to say, but if we could stop giving away easy goals then I think that McCall can see us to mid table safety, although he does need to get it sorted fast.

3 points from the league leaders and a cup final appearance would certainly help with the confidence.
