  1. As in the case of Leeds Utd a few years ago.

Therefore, a two year spread, in some situations, would make some sense.

Edited to add that I think the Football League were wise to this and took the points off them the following season after relegation.

I think that down here, the club suffer a points deduction every season that they are in administration, so if Dundee go into administration this season, they get a penalty. If they don't come out before next season starts, another penalty. I do think that is fair on other clubs.

Automatically relegating Dundee now would have consequences on Dundee's ability to come out of administration, and on the finances of other clubs. If they had nothing to play for, who would come to watch ? Also, presumably the remaining clubs would be fighting to avoid the play-off spot. What happens if a second club goes into admin ? Who would be in the play off now ?

  2. Why not just have an end of season playoff for the title like they do in rugby

3rd plays 6th and 4th plays 5th. The winners of these two games play the top 2 in semi finals. That will reward those who do well in the "normal" season and generate some end of season entertainment which the TV companies will like.

  3. Not that I disagree with you, DD, but the last team he put out was not exactly world beaters or indeed full of grit & confidence. For the record.....

    Arthur

    Anis

    Murray

    MadAussie

    Milne

    Mitchell

    Gibson

    Fleming

    Strachan

    One

    Ramon

A few rather delicate characters in there but still managed a very creditable draw at Love St.

God ! You have to let the facts get in the way of a good memory. May be I'm getting old, but from what I recall, the great one won every match by 5 goals or more !

  4. As many have said, if McCall was to leave, the only experienced managers that we could afford are known to be failures. I would much rather that we gave new blood a chance and maybe unveil a future gem. It is a gamble I know, but would Jaggy or Sid or Maxy be worse than those listed above ?

  5. I have voted yes.

The cost of sacking him is one thing, but I'm mot sure that there is too much wrong that can't be fixed with a bit of confidence. OK, so we have lost the last 3 games by 2 goals to 1, but had we held onto the lead in each of them, we would now be sitting in 4th place, just 3 points off the lead. I know that it is easy to say, but if we could stop giving away easy goals then I think that McCall can see us to mid table safety, although he does need to get it sorted fast.

3 points from the league leaders and a cup final appearance would certainly help with the confidence.

  6. Two players for every place, playing to the same system, has got to be the aspiration. This means 8 midfielders.

Not having 4 players twiddling their thumbs every week has to be a better asperation.

Having a manager that can adapt tactics to suit the available players in a small squad would also be a good asperation.

We don't have the finances to have 2 players for every position

  7. McCall is aware of this

“We are trying too to conclude deals with Bryn Halliwell and Ian Flannigan and obviously if we want them to be available to play against Clyde on Saturday we would need to get something done on that front this week.”

That suggests that the delay is not with the club but with the player or his agent. Could this be another of the "bash the board" posts without knowing the facts that are starting to make this forum tedious.
