Never understood spending some of the budget on Alston, Macdonald and Williamson.  Waste of money. We then sign a goalie as cover they obviously dont rate the lad McCready. Reminds me of Archies recruitment.

I think it better that Mason gets some game time with Spartans to develop rather than sitting on the bench for us. He is one that might still come through and is contracted to 2025. For next year I would like to see Mason and another up and coming keeper backing up one experienced keeper and not any of the current batch who are proven to be not good enough.

I didn’t know that Mason’s dad won a Super Bowl for the Patriots in 2001.

  2. Next season could be very competitive in the Championship, with the possibility that Aberdeen, Dundee Utd and Livingston all looking to get promoted, along with Falkirk being far more of a threat than Arbroath. We have 12 players who’s contracts expire or loans end (including 3 keepers, 2 regular defenders and right back) so this will be a big transfer window for us to be near contention.

Only 4 clean sheets in 28 league games. Not won a league game or had a clean sheet since 6th January against an heavily depleted Arbroath team. 5 points from the last 24 available.

Our form since January has been relegation material. For any other manager of any other club the manager would either be gone or facing serious questions about his future. Personally I would have thought if we don't win any of the next 2 the club needs to act.

We face Morton next and they are on a bit of a slump with Oakley and Wilson out followed by an ICT team that are currently 2nd bottom so no real excuses for not getting results.

We have already lost twice in recent weeks to teams who were second from bottom (Dunfermline and Ayr). Why do you think that ICT will be any easier ?

The general trend of the team isn’t great…..we are struggling to win a game and far from challenging for promotion we are only 4 points above the fifth placed side ( cue….i always thought we would be mid table , I’m amazed we are not relegated by now )

its 9 games since we have won a match and our performances are very variable with defensive weaknesses continuing.

signs of improvement not that obvious

We are only 9 points above 9th, so I wouldn’t rule out a playoff on current form.

If we're playing at Firhill, it should be easy to arrange for multiple cameras, at the very least aimed at goalmouths, so that near-instant replays of action are available in the dugout. If they're linked to the tracking used by players, so much the better. After each game, analysis is a must, but reviewing play during the match should be easy to arrange. After all, the view from any dugout is inferior to ours as fans, and fixed cameras (you don't need any fancy tracking) would be the simple solution, possibly with a director to select which clips to send to a monitor in the dugout.

Could we have the camera on the goal line. Even a small one might stop a couple going in.

Stop trying to bring nuance in to the argument or acknowledge that sometimes people make decisions based on more than metrics, KPIs, measures, data or whatever you want to call it.

Only a quantitative analysis is acceptable in Mr Jordanhill's view of the business world.

I'm sure he has the same opinion on sporting performance. Dools should only be looking at the numbers to determine how to make the team win again. Data science for the win!

I find it laughable (and exasperating) that someone would choose to argue these same points over and over, as if numeric analysis by itself is the sole arbiter in matters like this. An extremely simplistic take on things, or as others have suggested, a smokescreen to hide a personal beef behind.

    Time for forum break.

Has anyone done any quantitative analysis on the arguments making a jot of a difference.

I’ve never at any point called for him to be sacked. It’s still okay to be infuriated at several of the mistakes he has made, some financially costly without calling for him to be sacked

If you can’t be infuriated supporting the Jags then you’re supporting the wrong team.

  8. On the merits of the transfer dealings, firstly I don't buy that McCall was some sort of genius. He got some absolute duds as well as some decent and some average players. On the whole, pretty average. I think that Doolan has been a bit unlucky. Alston, McInroy and Robinson all looked good on paper and have played at a higher level, so should have been better than they have been. For some reason it hasn't worked out at Thistle and we have a long history of players who were good elsewhere, before and after their time with us (and equally some who were great for us, but failed elsewhere). Ngwenya and Adeloyi both looked to be decent signings, and nobody was sad to see Dowds leave. That said, the gaffer needs to do better next summer as we always looked to be very light weight at the back, and this must be addressed.

But the biggest difference between McCall and Doolan is hope. Under McCall, you always thought this was as good as it was going to get. With Doolan he has time to learn from and rectify his mistakes and I still think that he has the nous to get us to the Premier League, maybe not this season, but a good shot at it next. That said, he needs to do something to halt this horrific run, and I'm not sure he has too many options other than changing the keeper. McBeth is an interesting one. I don't think he has played that bad, but maybe his role disrupts the midfield.

Think if Doolan had Docherty, Holt , Tiff and Turner in the ranks we would probably be in a better position than we are just now .

I actually think that Brownlie is as big a miss. During the run in he was very solid at left centre back when Holt had to move to left back.
