  1. Well, Thistle are in there twice! Shame it's for both goals conceded against Aberdeen. I would have thought Higgy's strike against Hamilton might have warranted a mention.
  2. Hear! Hear! Our current badge is a terrible design. The worst aspect is it's blandness. It evokes no sense of our club whatsoever. There's a great opportunity to be had to create a new, distinctive club crest which combines the old versions into a new one. I'd give my eye teeth to be able to design a new badge for the club! They wouldn't even have to pay me (much)! This is just a sketch done this morning - Link to image as I cannot get this forum to let me post an image directly!
  3. Sorry. Next time I'll try to phrase my jokes in the form of a pun to make it more palatable. Gotta remember your audience!
  4. The least Scottish Thistle squad ever? How about the most International Thistle squad ever!
  5. You're a Summer and a Winter in a day!
  6. Welcome to Firhill! Let's hope he's not a McGovern!
  7. Manchester United are still looking to reduce their wage bill, so we can perhaps expect a helicopter to be landing near the Firhill basin at any moment!
  8. Firhill also saw attendances of twenty-nod thousands, sweeties tasted better, and you could trust your presidents. I don't understand how a team, which has traditionally been a yo-yo club in the past twenty years, can suddenly expect it 'not ridiculous' to finish in the top six of the country without a sudden, large, injection of money or a huge upswing in attendance. I don't recall either thing happening recently. Treating defeat as a disaster, players as useless after four games, and relegation as the end of the world doesn't suit any Thistle fan with a modicum of perspective.
  9. Watching the highlights, I'd forgotten that soft penalty claim Aberdeen had in the first half. And yet it looked more than a penalty than the one at Dens which resulted in us playing with ten men. The change when Doolan came on was palpable, it seemed as if we suddenly grew some teeth. I think that away strip is one of the most bowfin' we've had. Especially the socks.
  10. Why let our ambitions stagnate with top six? If Motherwell can do it, why not a European place? Celtic are pish and are currently getting beaten at this very moment in Dens Park library - so let's install Thistle as champions-in-waiting. In fact, we should be able to best their efforts this year, so Champions League qualification should also be a mandatory requirement for us. So, a domestic treble and the semi-finals of the CL will satisfy. And if Strachan doesn't populate his Scotland side with Jags regulars there will be something rotten at Firhill. That way it should be within reason to demand the next World Cup is kept at Firhill to truly honour us.
  11. These wild over-reactions sometimes just make me want to set myself on fire!
  12. You are wrong about that. We played great football against Ross County, and for most of the match against Dundee, even when we were hampered by injury and a sending off. Today there were spells of good possession and passing, unfortunately there was no threat on the Dons goal. We lacked a decisive edge that Aberdeen possessed. I wasn't at the Hamilton or Morton matches, so I can't comment. But you seem determined to accentuate the negative. Can people please remember the season is pretty bloody young? I'm confident this team will improve as they play more. If folk are so adamant that this season will be an unmitigated disaster and Archibald is the worst thing since Dick Campbell, then maybe they should give the rest of the year, and this forum, a miss. Or if constant complaining is what makes you happy, go right ahead. We all have to be true to ourselves, I guess. *Edited to change Hamilton to Ross County, sorry, my mistake.
  13. If you all make an appointment to see your doctors first thing Monday, you can get some serious anti-depressants which should kick in right around the time of our next match. There are some around here that seem almost triumphant in their misery.
  14. He seemed pretty capable to me, albeit in a team that played poorly overall. He wasn't giving me palpations the way Conrad Balatoni was when dealing with the ball, anyway!
  15. Oh well, don't have any complaints concerning the score. Aberdeen will play much, much better this season and get beaten. It seemed like two cracking goals for them, although being directly side-on it was difficult to properly take them in. Gallacher once again doing his best to keep the score down, but it seemed that the rest of the team had no interest in scoring a goal today. Doolan must be raging that he isn't getting a start. I thought Conrad was particularly poor as well, and the erse fell right out the team as soon as the second went in. The referee and the linesmen up to the usual standard we've come to expect, though it made no difference today. Two more soft yellow cards, they will take their toll soon enough. First ever visit to Aberdeen for me; and the place lived up to it's national stereotype: grey skies, grey sea, grey city ... and grey pishing rain inside a crumbly grey stadium with grey fans, who forgot to bring an atmosphere with them today. Nice art gallery though! Enjoyed that.
  16. I hope fans of other clubs don't check this forum to find out the quality of our players ...
  17. "Only a loan deal until January." Ah there's always a loud in every silver lining. Better than a poke In the eye with a sharp stick, anyway. Welcome to the club Jake, hope to see you play well tomorrow!
  18. I would post a direct link to the official site but It seems a little glitchy?
  19. "Use of existing pavilion as combined office and therapy centre"? What a load! I don't know how you could fit flats onto that land, unless they're Barbie-doll sized.
  20. I'm looking forward to it. Never been to Aberdeen or Pittodrie before, and it's a novelty being up there on a Saturday at three o'clock. Might even get home before dark, too!
