Stevie out for rest of season. Steven Lawless | Partick Thistle FC (ptfc.co.uk)

Seems he's expected back in 2025 which is good of us as his contract ends this summer (not that I mind keeping him on)

This is a double blow as we've never had adequate cover for our wingers this season. I think our best plan is to change formation to 3-5-3 or 3-4-3. We desperately need other missing players back ASAP

Steven signed a two year contract extension in November - https://ptfc.co.uk/ptfc-news/steven-lawless-signs-two-year-extension/

I see QP's home game v Ayr is also on a Fri night (22 Sept). No other clubs scheduled for a Friday ('cept Arbroath v Dundee Utd but that's the opening fixture) so no TV schedule out. QP games may end up being televised but looks another reason.

SWNT are at home that following Tuesday too - so explains why both our and Ayr's game is on a Friday.

Friday 27th October at Queens Park. Live game then?

Title decider Friday May 3rd at Tannadice.

SWNT are playing at Hampden the Tuesday after, so it will be to give maximum preparation pitch and advertising wise for that game.

... didn’t have a full pre season with us either.

Aidan featured as a trialist for us in all pre-season games - he didn't put pen to paper on a contract until closer to the season start but he was present for all of pre-season and featured in all of the games.

So premiership clubs could have standing areas?

Yes. Celtic have a safe standing area(although obviously that isn't like a traditional terrace). If Arbroath had won the league last year, they could have comfortably played all their home games at Gayfield, subject to the necessary improvements required for media, VAR and so forth.

Got to say that I thought the Ayr manager came across well here, in what is an interview principally for Ayr United fans. He graciously congratulates us, points out that their red-carded player lifted his hand against Muirhead, and makes the good point that next season's Championship will probably be harder than this season. That last point makes it all the more sensible for us to get out of this swamp by getting promoted now!

A question: if ever Ayr do get promoted, would they be allowed to play at Somerset, which despite it's quaintness is actually antiquated? Or, after shafting us with the JL stand, do the "authorities" now accept anything as a Premiership-compliant stadium?

Interesting to read about the stadium situation with Luton Town (and well done to them; amazing past few years!).

They would be allowed to play there but only within the capacity of the stand. I don't see how they or Queens Park could survive in the top flight with the limited income they'd have.

The all-seater rule of the SPFL was abolished in 2013 when the merge to the SPFL took place. If Ayr were promoted to the Premiership they would not need to make any adjustments to their stadium(bar those for a media perspective to accommodate television and VAR)

Do we get some extra cash for it being on Sky ?

No. The only games we get extra cash for are cup games. League games have the tv money included within the prize money which is awarded at the end of each season based on finishing position.

  8. 9 minutes ago, Auld Jag said:

If the SPFL get 50% that is a disgrace. There is little enough money outside the premier league as it is. :angry2:

Since the merger of the SPL and SFL, the prize money has grown significantly. For example, when we won the league in 12/13, we received £60,000 as prize money. Forfar Athletic, who finished midtable in League Two, received a payment roughly equivalent to that this season. The Championship ranges from 500k to 250k depending on finishing position I believe.

Taking the money from playoffs to fund parachutes keeps the overall payment in place and only affects teams who are playing, in effect, bonus games over the 18 issued at the start of the season - better that than taking it out the full pot.

If anyone speaks fluent gibberish, have a read. I hope this is the relevant extract from the SPL Rules & Regulations.

After having paid and/or allowed for any and all amounts to be paid/allowed for in terms of these Rules in the calculation of, out of or in connection with Net Commercial Pyramid Play-Off Revenues the remaining sum in respect of each Pyramid Play-Off Competition shall be paid by SPFLL as fees in the amounts determined from the specified percentage to the parties set out in the Table below in consideration of the rights, facilities and properties relating to and concerning, Radio Transmission and Transmission during and in respect of the relevant Pyramid Play-Off Competition and the other commercial, copyright and database rights and properties and any and all other intellectual property rights in and relating to each Pyramid Play-Off Competition contributed by each such party. If there has been no Pyramid Play-Off Tie then no payment shall be made to whichever of the SHFL or SLFL did not have a Champion club involved in the Pyramid Play-Off Competition.

    the Scottish FA 10%

    the SPFL 15%

    the SHFL 15%

    the SLFL 15%

The clubs/Club participating in the relevant season’s Pyramid Play-Off Competition, divided equally between each of them 45% divided equally between each of them.

That only relates to the play-offs between(this year) Spartans, Brechin and Albion Rovers. For our play-off, the home club gets 15% off the top, then 50% to the SPFL(to help fund parachute payments) and then the rest gets kept by the home club.

Well, I can answer my own question, thanks to the folk at QPTV.

And the answer is....... No, there is no pay-per-view live stream for tonight's match.

I'm guessing that maybe the BBC don't allow it.... although I can imagine that for live matches involving either of two clubs that shall remain nameless, somehow live internet streams are mysteriously not a problem, even if officially not allowed.

Thistle ppv'd Tuesday night's game so it is allowed. They can't do it tonight as it is an away game for us and I would doubt they would get a secure enough internet connection to stream from Ochilview - plus maybe wouldnt be easy to tie in Michael Max's JagZone commentary with the pictures?

It beggars belief that the SFA and SPFL have managed to schedule the finals of 2 competitions for the same week. Presumably, not expecting a Championship team to reach the Cup final.

Play off Final first leg - 1 June

Scottish Cup Final - 3 June

Play off Final second leg - 4 June

If ICT make it to the Play off Final, the dates will have to change. If the final is against Thistle, we may find that our players' contract extensions are not long enough.

If Inverness reach the final of the playoffs, we cannot be in the final, so our season will have ended on Friday 26th May at the latest.

    Does this have ramifications?

Only in the sense that he will be suspended for the next Glasgow Cup tie.

He's suspended for Saturday as a result of his red card against Kelty Hearts for violent conduct which carries a two game ban - one game immediate(served v Cove Rangers) and one game in the competition he received it in, which will be Saturday's tie.

Queens Park have also lost the lad Boeteng who was outstanding against us which is a blow for them.

Unfortunately, that's a different Boateng, Malachi Boateng is still with them and playing well.

    Great news Welcome back Kris.

I’m never too sure of the different positions at the Academy but is Kris taking over from Ryan who took over from Scott Allison?

    No.

Paul McDonald is the Academy Director. He succeeded Scott Allison in December 2021. Scott had succeeded Gerry Britton.

Ryan McCann was the Head of Youth Phase - basically an SFA mandated title for "Head Coach" for Project Brave reasons. So he would have been hands on and the 'manager' of the under 18s/reserve side(with input from the first team management for reserves too, I expect). So Kris will now fill this role and interesting to see that all these years on he is back serving under the man his coaching career started with in Paul McDonald as per news release.

I could - but why should I have to do so?

It's up to the clubs to facilitate on-day purchases either in person or online if they seriously want to encourage business..

Agreed. And as long as they confirm the cash gate position(either way) by Thursday/Friday it ultimately doesn’t make a difference.

  16. 5 minutes ago, Barney Rubble said:

It does believe it or not.

There is one original Glasgow southsider who is over from Brussels this weekend (holiday weekend over there) and who wants to attend the game with me, but also has other commitments to  fit into his long weekend schedule. He will quite rightly prioritise family/personal business if he cannot be certain of paying cash on Saturday.

They could pay you in cash and you could purchase both tickets online. Or he could buy his ticket online. Or he could make a decision closer to the weekend - unlike the Dundee debacle at least you can buy a ticket right up to kick off.

None of which is the fault of PT staff who have presumably asked the question and are waiting on an answer, otherwise the info would be published.

  17. 23 minutes ago, a f kincaid said:PT staff are not entirely innocent either. Why can't they ask the question when the home team supply them with the details?

Think you are being harsh to blame PT staff for an away game. For all you know, they have asked the question and are waiting for an answer from Queen’s Park staff but in the meantime are opening up the opportunity for fans who want to, to pre-purchase their tickets in advance.

As long as a cash gate(or lack of) is confirmed by Thursday/Friday, does it really matter?
