I’m sure I read there will be no live streams of League games this season due to the new tv deal

Apparently there will be no live streams of games this season because Sky won't allow them. Interested to see exactly how many games in the Championship and leagues 1 and 2 Sky intend to broadcast this season. In fact how many games not involving either of the ugly sisters they will cover.

Also its been stated  that the SPFL are 'continuing to discuss streaming with Sky'....

SPFL ' can we allow clubs to earn a bit more money by streaming games please?'

    SKY 'No, now sod off'

    SPFL 'Right you are'

....Quick, get a press release out saying we are in constant dialogue with Sky on streaming

Hold on here. Is there a suspicion that squad players who don't make the first team are dictating that they don't want to play in any kind of reserve team?

If so, their erse should be out the door, pronto.

Just as likely the clubs don't want them injured in meaningless games given most carry a 1st team squad of around 20. The squad players can get a run out in the challenge and league cups.

  3. If the club is losing money providing printed programmes I'm more than happy to bin them but some digital version could be made available, after all a lot of the info is already published on linevin one f I rm or another. Pull the team lines, snippets of player and manager  interviews, latest from the Academy and Women's teams and maybe a few choice bits from the Thistle Archive (assumin that they are happy to contribute) and it's pretty much there. Maybe get another sponsor or two to cover additional costs.

  4. While I'd far rather the round of 16 was an unseeded draw, I'd also want to see bookings in the group stages wiped for the knockout stages and then wipedfor the start of next season's competition.  It's hard enough for teams to win the Cup from the group stage but even harder if you have suspensions hanging over from the group stage. Although Hibs amongst a few clubs must think bookings are just ignored whenever they happen

Mine is OK. 2nd goal was a beauty.

    Sort of saw it!

Been an odd 1st half. Thought we would go on and score a few after the 1st one as we were dominating but thought we were so poor we would be lucky to go in 1 up then Holt stepped up.

  6. Craig Nelson was one who could make some great saves only to make a blunder later. I might be misremembering but I recall him diving under a shot by Hately against the blue arse cheek at Firhill and doing something similar when Geordie Shaw played for Dundee, again at Firhill.

Does anyone know how much the club actually makes from the selling of a top? Is the 3rd strip the clubs idea or O'Neills? Do Greaves get a cut?

I'm in New Zealand and try and do my bit to support the club where I can with purchase of tops and leisurewear though the Joma range didn't see much cash heading back to Scotland. The O'Neills range has been far better and I've had a few comments in the gym regarding some of the tops from WTF are you wearing to that's smart what is it, though  trying to explain Partick Thistle and football in general to a rugby fixated country isn't the easiest.

Everyone will get a 'cut' from the sale of Thistle merchandise.

I'm not an expert on retail sales but take a top on sale with Greaves for £50 as an example (figures are simply guesswork). The manufacturer will make and distribute the top for say £30. Add on say £5 paid to Thistle so Greaves would pay £35 giving them £15 per top to cover their costs.

I doubt Thistle are going to sell enough merchandise to be able to demand up front payments or big royalties.  Added to that, the big kit suppliers (Adidas, Nike, Puma) want to shift huge numbers so won't want to offer bespoke kits to smaller clubs like ours so we tend to go to smaller, niche firms like O'Neills which until recently were only known for making kit for gaelic games in Ireland.

I reckon the stuff they produce for Thistle is as good as anything we have had since the Puma days and a far cry from the TTL stuff.

I think Hemmings was mouthing to all the Jags penalty takers, telling them to put it to one side or the other.

Thought we looked very sharp and thankfully speedier than last season. Even Cammy Smith looked quite useful with some of his runs. Hope he can come good.

Hemmings was definitely 'sledging' however according to the Jagzone commentary the ref did nothing about it but warned Graham after he scored and had a pop back!

  9. The goals montage just how much skill as well as pace Adam  had but also the sheer joy of scoring. God knows what he went through latterly but I hope he has found peace.  Thoughts and prayers for his family and friends.

If anyone else out there is fighting a battle please remember you are not alone. Check out Andy's Man Club. They have meetings all over the country on a Monday night.

I’m going but really disappointed at the discrimination, £12 to stand at the end of the park when the home supporters get a seat at the side for the same money. Did we not raise a complaint against Clyde for something similar a few years ago? I hate standing at the end of a park and being taken for a mug, just because I want to see my team play.

The Clyde complaint was that we were charged more than their fans for the same facilities. Broadwood in those days just had the 2 stands. IIRC  Clyde were fined around £9k.

Good as it is, I want to stop talking about the kit and more about who is going to be wearing it. Season starts on Saturday

Time to start a match thread DD?

Hmm, Can anybody remember with certainty the first sponsor of the Thistle home shirt?

Were we just one of a whole wave of teams going down that road, or were we either early arrivals or latecomers on the bandwagon?

Seem to remember it was Ashoka West End

I stand corrected. According to Historical Football Kits website it was  Mortons Rolls.

  13. Considering the Thistle team only joined the league at the 11th hour last season they acquitted themselves very well and had a great run to the Scottish Cup semi final. Going to be very tough against the other 3 Glasgow team ams and Hearts. Hopefully  another cup run or two and a better league position.

Its a decent strip (personally still prefer the Kingsley one) but brining the unveiling forward 24 hours suggests something didn't go according to plan.

Used to be pre-covid that most players contracts expired at the end of June. I was hoping that the reason the strip was planned to be unveiled tomorrow was so a new signing could be used to bolster the new strip. Does bringing it forward 24 hours increase or decrease the chance of a player or 2 signing tomorrow?

It would have been good to see a new player or two in the new kit but doubt it makes any difference to announcing new signings. Players contracts expire today so we might see a couple announced shortly. As BB says think they simply got caught out with the leaked photo circulating on SM and decided to make the best of it.

We use the word “legend” at times too easily in football, but Jackie was a true Thistle legend.
An absolute lovely man as well, still a shame he missed seeing us being promoted by a few days.

  16. Sadly money dictates  every club is a feeder for another one with deeper pockets. (Awaiting the outcry when Morelos jumps the ibrox ship for more money  elsewhere.)

I'm pleased that we are producing players that are progressing into the senior squad at the same time able to sell players on which no doubt helps finance the academy.
