  1. I would guess having liabilities that exceed assets by near three quarters of a million quid is something to get worried about. Hopefully, we can keep treading water.

I take it this is the last set of bad results we can lay at the door of Allan Cowan and Tom Hughes?

Comparing the figures for this set of accounts with the last set:

    2009 - Loss of £220,788 & liabilities exceeding assets by £845,811

    2010 - Loss of £117,117 & liabilities exceeding assets by £773,356

Both the figures for this set of accounts are down on the previous one so that, to my untrained eye, is positive but not being an accountant it could be that there are negatives hidden in the figures somewhere.

  2. Does that take into account their shares in PlopCo though?

To be honest I don't know as there is less info in the accounts than in previous years, if someone who knows how to read these and can give an "idiots guide" to what they are saying - are things better or worse thatn we would expect - wants to PM me with their e-mail address I will send them over.

  3. 3 and 5 game packages available too now and valid for any game from boxing day onwards.

    http://www.ptfc.co.uk/news/2010-2011/december_2010/three_and_five_game_packages

3 game package before Christmas - £38 working out at £12.67 per game

5 game package before Christmas - £64 working out at £12.80 per game

Good to see that the Club are doing things that in the past have been suggested but not taken up, hopefully there will be a good take up on this offer and the Club will look to build on this with the season tickets for next season.

  4. The Club has released the latest set of accounts (they are on the companies house website). A net loss of £117,117 was made and our liabilities exceed the assets by £773,356. Unfortunately as I am rubbish at IT issues I can't attach a link but if someone who knows what they are doing wants to contact me I can e-mail them and they can post them on here.

  5. I think this is a very good idea as it allows people who want to see money flowing to the Club to be able to do so without any of the "other" stuff that has been mentioned in other posts/threads coming in to it.

Personally, I favour the money going to specific things that people know about in advance but I know that others prefer the just give money to the Club approach. The important thing is the Club getting more money and if you need things for auctions then let me know and I will see what I can come up with.

  6. Beattie's comments were totally realistic and refreshingly honest. The bank will have a huge say on our future. At least he is willing to correspond with the supporters via email. I am much more optimistic than I was a few months ago.

We now know our financial position - £700k in debt after the PropCo deal. The only way to make the club financially viable in the longer term is for the shareholders to dilute their shareholdings via a rights issue. They will have to take a substantial hit to attract new investors in these difficult times. A good cup run would help enormously too.

The only part of the statement I was concerned about was in regards to the prospect of going into administration when he said "...at this time there are no plans..." - I would have been a lot happier if the words in bold had been absent. I agree with the other points you make though.

  7. It occurred to me that we've not had a single draw this season, none at all actually unless you count the Ross County 2-2, though we lost that on penalties. It wasn't the league, and I hardly count the Challenge Cup as a serious fixture....

Anyway, I remembered a long run last season too. So checked.

0-0 v Raith Rovers on Monday 19th April, a.k.a. Night of the Living Dead, which broke a depressing run of losses, but was our first draw since another 2-2 in Dingwall, on 24th October 2009. So, that makes one draw in more than a year.

You get more points from losing one week then winning the next, compared to 2 draws, but it's surely remarkable. I'm not sure if it means anything....

So odds on a draw against Morton then!

  8. I have bought a few of the t-shirts and they are very good plus a few "bits and pieces" like keyrings, etc and never had a problem. Good point by kni though about suggestions for what people would buy but is not stocked as Greaves are good at taking suggestions and acting on them. For me I would like to see a fridge magnet (just because the one I have is the old logo whilst everything else I have is the new one).

  9. I have been impressed with David Beattie's comments in the programme since the changes in the Boardroom took place and would hope that he can address this issue in Saturday's programme or give some indication as to the strategy that the Club is going to employ to deal with the financial situation.

I believe that one of the directors was interviewed on Friday and something should be in the Herald next week which will look at the changes behind the scenes, etc.

  10. I hope that we can get a good crowd for this game as attendances (as discussed in another thread) are a bit of a worry, and that is for most teams not just ourselves. There were 1,800 at Morton's game against high flying Dunfermline today and 2,100 at top of the table Raith's game against QoS - that has got to be a worry for the home teams.

If the Club are going to promote this game with one of the excellent posters that gets produced now and again I hope that they can get it out early in the week to give maximum time for it to make an impact.

  11. Just out of interest, can each of the guys who resigned tell us whether they have been, or expect to be, offered a seat on the Board of Partick Thistle in the forseeable future?

I have not been contacted by the Club Board and I do not expect to be in the future either.

  12. As it is now on the Trust's website I can let you know that I have resigned from the Trust Board with immediate effect.

I would like to apologise to those people who feel that I am letting them down by not seeing out my term, it was a very difficult decision but it is one that I feel is right.

Quite simply I do not have what it takes to get the Trust to the level that the fans want (and deserve). To use a footballing analogy, the Trust needs its big name players to get on the ball and dictate play. Unfortunately what I can offer is only the role of a journeyman professional - reliable, safe no risk passes but ultimately not a matchwinner.

I hope that my stepping down will allow someone who has more, for want of a better word, charisma to get involved and that they can enthuse and unite people behind them.

  13. There are a few things that I would like more information and a bit of clarity on.

A few weeks ago on Pie and Bovril one of the three JTB members who resigned today was talking about “something concrete” developing from the last meeting of the JTB with regard to the Trust “looking to make it more accessible to those who do not currently exercise an interest through it”.

    That was on October 12th.

Sounds to me as if something specific has happened in the interim resulting in today’s three resignations. It doesn’t seem credible to me that three individuals decide that they’ve had enough all at the same time unless something has triggered that.

If there has been some resistance to a change of agenda from some on the JTB then I would like more detail of what that change in agenda exactly involved.

The remaining JTB members are coming in for some fairly robust criticism but until such time as there is more detail as to what caused the split then it is impossible to form an opinion on whether that criticism is justified or not.

It would be helpful, therefore, if there could be some comment from the remaining JTB member if not here then on the JT website.

More importantly, for me at least, though would be see the reasons for the resignations fleshed out a little.

If they felt sufficiently strongly about something to resign is it not worth articulating exactly what that was?

The something concrete would be (I believe) the Trust inviting reps from the supporters' buses to the next Trust Board meeting with a view to co-opting them (these invites have gone out).

As for the other stuff I think it would be better for those who resigned to articulate their specific reasons as I, as a remaining member of the Board, would not wish to misrepresent my former colleagues in any way.

  14. Firstly can I say "thanks" to David, Tom & Graeme for all their efforts for the Trust and wish them all the best in the future. To clarify the situation as to who remains on the Trust Board - there is myself (Martin Towers), jags365 (Donald Larmour - Secretary), Morag McHaffie (Board Rep), Maggie Forsyth (Treasurer) & Fiona Harvey (Membership Secretary).

I am sure that people will have a lot of questions and will want to discuss matters, as always I shall be in the Trust kiosk prior to kick off at the Morton game on the 13th of November and would be glad to speak to anyone who wishes to come along.

This is a diffcult time for the Trust (I don't deny that) and I hope that you can stick with us whilst we try and gets things sorted.

    Martin
