100% behind this. If you disagree at least accept that no single player would poll anything near 50%.
Absolutely agree. But I think that's what makes it so interesting. At least six would be strongly in the running, and there's another eight or nine who'd have walked it any other year. Brilliant squad.

Best of luck to Morton. And cheers.

Falkirk stadium looks really Scheidt on telly, eh?
-
Sorry but I disagree! They've won the title. That's the main prize, it's a team prize and it's a team sport. But to award POTY to the whole team makes it meaningless, and I really want to see who wouLd win the most competitive POTY prize in all my 30 years of watching Thistle. It's just a bit of fun anyway. I'm in full agreement about the full squad photo etc suggestion.

Today feels comparable to Stirling in 2001. The weather and the location and he circumstances. There'd have been a good few thousand that day

"...my philosophy is if there’s no business, there’s no football club"
A wee dig at Rangers? Or just a factually correct statement? I like it either way.

I cannot comprehend the spunkfest that goes on over Welsh - he has under-performed for months, can be pedestrian in possession, is often flat footed and requires Bannigan to cover for him regularly. His threat from corners has completely diminished and I wonder if the, for want of a better word, assault he suffered in the Queen's Park game has made him reluctant to put his head in where he used to. What is for certain is that he is having nowhere near the same impact he was at the beginning of the season and trying to suggest that he is is bewildering.
Bit of a negative post generally, I feel. End of a great season and it would have been heartbreaking to have lost the league. But rather than that the team seems to be closing it out very effectively. As for Welsh, I think he's done a very solid job in covering Paton's absence. Earlier in the season he had two more defensive midfielders behind him and could be more creative but recently he's had a tough job and he's done it well. Paton was a key player and we could have missed him much more.

To get back to the car having just watched the great escape and find out that the Greenockites had lost was utterly staggering. I must have looked quite a sight sitting in my car in the in the Airdrie United car park screaming YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! at the radio
You may have looked a sight but I'd imagine that this reaction was more common (and safer) in the Airdrie United car park than on the Pollok roundabout

Elliot's goal at Airdrie. That was the moment many of us realised we were winning the league.
Wasn't at the game. But I nearly crashed the car at the final whistle and was holding back the tears when I got home. Have to admit that this season's got to me in a way that I thought I'd grown out of 25 years ago.

I think the photo's the worst part. It just looks so wrong with players who are still contracted to another club. We all know it happens, but this looked like rubbing our noses in it. Which is ironic at a time when we're all, genuinely, now seeing McNamara's departure as a lucky break.

Said it on another thread, and probably not the "best" moment, but holding out against Morton with ten men felt really important to me. Archie's first game, possibility of going eleven points behind. My feeling is that with a defeat that day the course of the season may have been very different.
Central station that day was great too.

Seven points out of nine is fantastic. Maybe grinding them out but not exactly limping over the line. Huge credit to every one of them.
-
Yesterday's announcement should make no difference. Hope they both play again. Thistle players til the end of the season, and in the long run they'll be remembered as two of the stars in an outstanding team. Much like Archie and Shaggie are now.

Erskine vs Falkirk and Airdrie and Forbes against Dunfermline are possibly the best three goals I've ever seen at Firhill. Missed the last Dumbarton game but Lawless goal is up there too. What a season. No arguments with the top ten, but mention to Steve lawless against Raith Rovers too. That was an incredible finish.

Not disappointed tonight at all. It's all about the season. I think he players maybe deserved more from the crowd at full time as for me we won the league tonight. But there's plenty more chances for the party. Well done Jags. My favourite season in 30 years of watching the Thistle.

Next season is next season. I want to celebrate this one, and these guys have been major parts (possibly the two greatest parts) in my favourite season in thirty years as a Jags fan. I hope they enjoy the party and I wish them every success in their career. My estimation of both is completely unaffected by this. Thanks guys.

Forgot that one! Just that I had seen someone mention we only had 3 away defeats. I forgotten one of the defeats against Morton was at home. Still, only one league defeat with 11 men on the park is pretty impressive.
Sure is. I heard that we'd had ten red cards this season. I can remember Murray against Morton twice, Paton against Hamilton, Forbes against Morton, welsh against livingstone, Muirhead against Dunfermline, Raith and QOS and Craig against Cove. Was there another?

Archie showing up pretty well so far as stats below show (great site for the statto's amongst us!)

They're doing Archie a disservice, with Cowdenbeath as a draw rather than a win.

Talking of stats, apart from the League Cup defeat at Hamilton, have we lost a game this season with 11 men on the park for the full 90 minutes? I don't think so.
Dumbarton away?

Can't wait. I'm going to be useless in work tomorrow.

Looking ahead to SPL (hopefully) there seems to be an acceptance that we'll again lose players to "bigger" teams, and it does seem likely that one or two are off to DUFC. I'm wondering, given the apparent level of debt in SPL and, I'd assume, difficulty in getting further credit, is there any reason why we shouldn't be able to compete on a financial basis with the majority of SPL clubs? Is it just a case of them all being irresponsible basket cases, and us not wishing to join them in their folly?

Add Paton to your list and I'd say you've got our top five. And to think that this doesn't include three players who could all end up scoring over 15 goals, a keeper whose probably broken our shut-out record for a season, and a full-back who's had an international call up. Oh, and Sinclair, Forbes and Welsh (unsung hero) have all been excellent, with Craigen and Elliott adding something fresh in the later stages and scoring the two most memorable goals. Dowie's been an important signing, while Murray was a big influence early season in getting it all started. Oh aye, and who was the old guy at the back?... Doesn't seem to get a game any more. Squad of heroes. I've never seen a Thistle team where every player has made such a valuable contribution.

Definitely fancy Erskine, lawless and Doolan all to start. I see this as a game that the Jags should go out with confidence, try to knock the ball around at pace and play to their strengths (mind you, Forbes... Embarrassment of riches). For all that it could be a huge night, I feel there's actually less pressure than there's been for a long while, so I'm hoping to see the Jags outplaying the opposition with good football, as well as the commitment that's been so obvious in recent weeks. Having said that, if we win one-nil will a goal that goes in off somebody's arse I'll be equally delighted.

Reminds me of Ray Farningham. Seems to cover every blade of grass. Massive part of our late season form and essential in the absence of Paton and Murray. Well done James Craigen!
