Totally with you. Can we turn around this thread into something positive?

I reckon there's not enough positive feeling going around about this week's games. Thistle have proved that they're comfortably one of the best teams in this league. The away record is just a statistic. I reckon we can go away and expect to win.
And another thing, east/west split on away form. Away league record against teams from the east, won 2, drawn three, lost none. Pretty impressive. West coast teams, won 0, drawn two, lost three. So we have nothing to fear this week! (admittedly these are also just statistics, but it shows what you can do)

Then ignore my opinion. Easy?
Yep. Probably a good call.

Two very insightful and constructive quotes. Thanks alot
Okay, to be fair you are entitled to post your opinion, and forums are great where you find yourself remote from your beloved Jags. But genuinely, I think if you'd seen the lasts two games you'd see hat Thistle are doing fine under Archie, playing out tough games and looking pretty comfortable. Maybe not converting chances like they should but hopefully that'll come back. You can't deny that he early season form had dipped long before McNamara left, and teams are coming to Firhill with a far more defensive mindset than early season. I just don't think that, given the shock of losing our manager, you can criticise a manager whose taken seven points from nine, including an away match against the other best team n the league. Club needs everyone pulling together, even from the other side of the world, and doubts over manager's position don't help.

Immense. Needed something special today as it just wasn't falling for us, but well deserved win. Chris Erskine's entering the realms of Chic Charnley and Davie Irons on my all time list.
-
Would love to - will you pay for my airfare?
Be a lot cheaper if you just didn't post the rubbish.

My top team, since 1985...
Nicky Walker
Davie Irons, Scott Paterson, Steven Craigen
Alan Dinnie, Danny Lennon, Paul Paton, Davie Elliott
Chic Charnley, Chris Erskine
Gerry Britton
Second team (coz I was struggling to leave them out):
Craig Nelson
David Lilley, Jim Duffy, Aaron Muirhead, Alan Archibald
Ray Farningham, Kenny Watson, Albert Craig
John Buckley, Martin Hardie
Geordie Shaw
A few more players from current team would be pushing for places too.

Noted we're now odds on favourites with every bookie. Putting aside bias, genuine question, can anyone see a statistical reason why we should be favourites at the moment, based on league position, form, games left and the fact that we've just lost our manager? Am I just a pessimist?
-
I think resting players is important, certainly with so many games in a short space of time. I also dont feel the team is any weaker with the few changes people and myself are suggesting, just gives it a different look.
I see the logic, but I'd rather see us get a bit of continuity. We've had plenty of changes with injury and suspension, and I'd hate to see us being complacent.
-
Don't understand talk of resting players. Who do we think we are? A win tomorrow is essential and not a formality and, whatever it may be, we should put out our strongest team. Wouldn't change much from Tuesday, but I would find a place for Forbes because it'll be all about unlocking Airdrie.
-
Chic, Davie Irons, Nicky Walker. Chris Erskine getting there too. Willie Callaghan the worst.
-
Good result for us. Keeps us second. Two horse race now?
-
willie thornton must have been brave considering we killed 2 previous managers.
But poor Willie suffered a worse fate!
-
That's why it's probably best not to bother learning any of the players names. All we are doing is following a set of colours.
Nah. Taking it too far. They're people, and they're football players and I'm sure they love the support and need it. And being part of a team and having shared goals etc is worth a lot. But let's be honest, we only support them because of the team they play for, and they only play for the team that pays their wages.
-
I've never really seen it that way. I'm there to support partick thistle, not the individual people playing or managing. They come and go inevitably, it doesn't change the club. That's not to say I don't love the players when they're doing we'll for us.
-
Don't know if you're joking or not PT, but Grant Murray might not actually be a bad shout.
Only thing against Murray is that he was a rubbish Thistle player. Which probably shouldn't matter.
-
As the title of this forum says "WE are Thistle"
WE are Thistle.
We were here long before he came and we'll be here long after he's gone.
Yeah, but we were rubbish before he came...
No seriously, I do agree with you really.
-
see to be honest actually, i don't really give a ****, it'll be another lamb coming in to guide us to 5 seasons in a row of 6th and 7th placed finishes.
No need for this! We have the best squad in the division. With the right appointment we can still do it.

I think it would be madness to appoint anyone without managerial experience. Could afford to take a chance when jackie came in as our season was over. At this stage we need someone who's proved they can do the job. not necessarily an older manager, I'd be in favour of the likes of hartley, johnston or colin cameron. ian murray as a punt maybe. Billy Dodds would be my ultimate "no".
-
^^ And Jackie signed a new contract on 18th December too!
Can't claim to know all the details, but my understanding was that it wasn't a contract that tied him (or us). Ambitious young manager, I think it's always been clear that we were a stepping stone. Accept that I am sometimes an unreasonably reasonable person and many won't agree.
-
Good luck to him. His contract always seemed to be on a pretty flexible basis, which would also have suited the club if he hadn't done a job. No lack of dignity in the way this has been handled, just unfortunate for us. I'm totally gutted but not angry. Just hope the club get the right man n place. Hartley looks a decent bet to me. Would McInnes be out of our range?
-
At international level Scotland seem to be pretty relaxed about playing full-backs on the "wrong" side in recent years. Could there be an argument for Bannigan (or Sinclair) at right-back, as we have more options in midfield?
-
You're off your chump of you seriously believe that.
I may be. It's an optomistic view.

Yep. Murray's red looks harsh, and I didn't think so at the time.
