    Two reasons:

    1. We weren't playing our 6th game in 2.5 weeks or perhaps more relevant, our 2nd game in 4 days after having already played 4 games). This play-off system lacks football integrity and it sucks!

    2. We didn't have Nick Walsh as the referee.

Today's game cannot be compared to the play-off final.

If you look at the highlights of the 2-0 game at Firhill with RC you will see that in the second half we were already starting to suffer from fatigue. That's why we didn't winning that game 3/4-0.

My argument is that if you finish 4th in a league of 10 it should be very difficult to get promoted through playoffs.

But not a night for arguing. Well done Thistle!

Because we offered him an 18 month deal vs a six month deal from raith ….an 18 month deal is more expensive so we outbid them.

Maybe they could afford to have offered 18 months but only offered 6 months because they're signing Harry Maguire in the summer

We couldn’t offer Turner and Tiffoney Premiership football which I guess they wanted as well as extra money.

Yeah. I'd say league level and money are both factors when I say "better offer". And I see what you're saying, it wasn't in our gift to offer the higher league level. Which again is why we lost them and why its very difficult to just go out and replace them like-for-like.

  4. It's pretty simple. There are two reasons why players leave clubs. Either the club wants them gone to replace with better, or the player wants to go because there are better things on offer elsewhere. Replacing the latter is always going to be difficult because, by definition, players of that quality and reputation are receiving better offers elsewhere. So you have to find a gem. Or develop one. And that is never easy.

If we were able to offer what Holt, Turner, Tiffoney and Docherty left for, why wouldn't we just have offered it to them?

  5. I think Doolan deserves some leeway. Last season's run was spectacular. I think he's bright, positive, brave and a good communicator and has lots of good attributes to be successful. He also has the whole legend thing, which is maybe worth something (but shouldn't be overplayed).

But I also think he's possibly a bit naive as a manager, and has a lot to learn. This is natural, given that he's been thrown in to his first job with minimal preparation. As long as he learns, and I think he's the type of person who will, I have confidence.

But he must accept that yesterday was unacceptable. I don't mind losing to a better team, but that was an embarrassing and indisciplined collapse.

As a squad of players we are much better than that. I wouldn't read too much into our capabilities, based on yesterday. I still think we're definitely good enough to finish in play off. But the attitude yesterday was beyond questionable.

Regarding comments on Harry Milne, he'll come good again I think. You don't just become a bad player, but you can lose confidence. I suspect that's all it is, and a few decent performances, and breaks, will see him right.

Holy moly! We are a Scottish team playing in the scottish league, of course we can fly a saltire without it being a political anything!

    We're a British team too.

I don't like flags. Countries are just made up political entities, so there's no such thing as a non-political national flag.

  7. Great result, very good performance, but I'm going to be a really grumpy old man here.

I mean you really can't begrudge little kids enjoying a Thistle game, so disliking myself for saying this but.....

That constant banging on the gates down the front of the JHS was REALLY annoying.

    Apologies.

Also agree. We will continue to compete and relative to our competitors in the Championship we will attract better players than most. However the overall standard of play will continue to descend for the foreseeable future.

You don't think we're playing a high level of technical football compared to many Thistle teams of the past? Scoring better crafted goals?

Scotland may be dropping in level relatively, but I think football generally is of a much higher standard than it used to be, and our game is being raised in that way. Try watching a rerun of Scotsport from the 1980s and you'll see what I mean.

  9. Entertaining game I thought.

I think we have been entertaining under Kris Doolan, but unfortunately particularly for the neutrals. We play a lot of good attacking football but we seem vulnerable to losing games that we should win, and yesterday was a perfect example.
