Stretching it a bit - we have always run the Club - until recently using a large % of Volunteers

This hasn’t changed, the club still relies heavily on volunteers, from office staff to matchday staff to media team.

Because its not a sustainable business strategy - you are hoping a fan gives you some cash ?

Clubs are always hoping fans give cash.

Many fans  buy season tickets out of habit, and attend out of habit not just because they expect us to win.

No none join’s Centenary fund to win a prize, it’s basically a way to donate to the club with a potential wee prize.

The investment gives us working capital which ensures we do not have cash flow issues like last season and buys time to ensure the club is run not only on a sustainable budget but with hopefully growth. As does the £150k from the Foundation.

Cutting budget helps short term, but means we can’t compete, so we drop down league, prize money drops, crowds drop and the spiral increases.
Apart from cutting the player’s budget (again) I’m not sure what cuts could be made.

Very true mate.  I still think though some of the 2 year deals awarded to Robinson, Williams etc were too generous though.

1 year for Robinson to see if he was injury free then extend it if necessary

1 year to Williams who let’s face it is completely unknown and not played in the Scottish leagues before to see if he could cut it would have been enough and if he did then we could have extended.

A few others like Alston, McDonald etc have been disappointing as well

They may not have signed if only offered 1 year, as someone else may have offered two. We don’t know mate, but we were behind the 8ball in terms of time and finances.

It’s always a gamble on new signings, close season after top 6 looked like we had a great squad on paper, then got relegated.
We’ve signed unknowns (Doolan, Erskine) who’ve been a godsend.

Weve played great and crap and everything in between this season, but apart from Dundee Utd so have everyone else. It’s only a quarter in, and I reckon we’ll still be top4 by May

To be honest the excuse of the excuse won’t wash …..neither of those points are valid other than to to tell contingency planning was absent .

How can you offer a contract if you don’t know what league you’ll be in?

I notice you avoided answering re your attendance at Firhill by using the old technique of answering a question with a question. In my view it is relevant because you are probably the most ardent exponent of wanting the manger sacked at every poor result and yet you seldom attend games.  I appreciate you can view games via other mediums. Call me old fashioned but I think a supporter is someone who pays their ticket money and watches their team live.

    Anyway you bash on.

Am I less of a supporter as I live in Norway and get to about half a dozen games in person a season?

I have a season ticket, a streaming season ticket, centenary fund, Jags Foundation member and Jags trust member too.

Being not able to attend a game due to location does not stop you being a supporter

Maybe but again that’s his job …. And the jury is definitely out on recruitment …. What is the point of Alston ?

What’s the point on various players signed by every manager we’ve ever had.

    Coulinbaly

    Roger Eli

    Dowds

    Lyons we signed from Montrose

Some players are signed to improve squad and end up regular starts, others don’t and you don’t see them.

Ok …. I need to ask what is ‘ transitional season ‘ ? Since it seems to be the excuse of the week

it was always going to be tough to get past DU given their finances but why should we struggle to get into the top 4 ?

    unless Doolans recruitment is poor

We lost the core of our team (Doc, Holt, Turner) to teams that pay way more than us, our 2 best wingbacks have either been injured or not recovered form from injury (Milne & McMillan), add to that we’ve had to cut the budget.

Of course it’s transitional, he’s effectively having to start building a team again, blooding youth (which thankfully we have some great prospects). Play offs should be the goal with all this. He’s on track for that

We won’t win the league unless our defending improves .

We kept a clean sheet, we have 2nd best goals difference in the league.

Clean sheets don’t win leagues, as Sneddons 17 in the league campaign 21/22 showed, scoring more goals than the opposition does.

Can you just enjoy the victory, the 3 goals, 3 points moving up to 3rd and not conceding

Jesus it wasn’t our luck but theirs …. They missed a sitter to go one up , our second was a howler from their keeper and just before our third Graham cleared the ball off our line.

We were by far the better team, created way more chances, defended better and bossed midfield. 3-0 isn’t luck, 3-0 is winning well and we could have scored more with both Lawless and Fitzy missing and defending stopping Brian Graham getting on a great cross.

Open Day details confirmed. Good news that you can purchase/renew your season ticket on the day as well.

Along with all the other items asked for above

The Jags Foundation, Her Game 2, and Disabled Supporters association will also be in attendance.

There seems loads on catering to all, hope it has a good turnout. Unfortunately I’ve got my folks in Norway this weekend or I’d have been back for it

Time will tell. I know Doolan needs ST money to get players in. The fact that people like me are holding off and complaining hasn't escaped me either. Still, I'll hold off and see what kind of squad he's rustled together a couple of days before RR at Firhill and decide then.

Without money in how can the club give Doolan cash to assemble a squad.

The club needs to live within its means so it can’t spend what it doesn’t have

May well join but I'm in for other things including ST, Centenary and 50/50 on occasion and one might have to go first.

We do the full membership at £10 a month, concession at £5 and a “cost of living” one for £1 a month for folk who struggle to afford the other 2 but wish to join.

Folk can also do additional contributions as see fit, plus the U16 is £10 a season

A great idea and they look brilliant.

They also raise good funds for the Foundation which in turn helps us give £10k a month to the club.

If you like them, and what we are doing get joined up to The Jags Foundation

Help the club and collect your pins

Was at the  meeting last night their was about 80 members and 27 on zoom   usual faces  from save the jags tbh  spoke about the last board. And the position they left us in .  introduced 3 new members to the tjf board .they seem very confident for the future of the club but obviously still looking for new members and subscriptions    also passed a motion for under 16s to become members of tjf  and that will be getting processed ASAP .

We are very confident of the future due to a few key factors

    - The membership growth

    - The membership engagement

    - The diversity in both membership and board

    - The fact the club now has sensible budgeting finally put in place

    - Junior membership coming through brings the next generation on the journey from a young age.

We aren’t going to rest on our laurels, we still have a lot to do, and being lent the vote of our members puts a burden of responsibility on each of the board members to make this and the club a success for this generation and the next.

I would encourage anyone not signed up to do so, it enables us to do more financially for the club, more for the membership and fan base at large and increases the democracy and demographics of the Foundation.

Last 2 to complete my collection arrived today, thanks a lot!

Thanks for collecting, but we have more great pins coming soon so your collection will keep growing. I currently have mine on my scarf and I’m going to end up with a neck like a bison wearing it to the matches
