  1. Viking play Sparta Prague in 2nd leg Europa Conference league qualifier on Thursday (0-0 1st leg). Ticket behind the goals is £13 for an adult, U16 are free. Compare wages here versus Scotland and that’s around £9.
I can go and buy a ticket at stadium, online and printout or directly on my phone either via app or link in email/website. I can also buy a ticket at the ground up to kick off.

Why does Scottish football make it so difficult

This is going back to the dark ages. Why can Dundee not offer an online purchase option when every other club can do so?

For those of us who cannot go to Firhill in person this week and therefore have to phone, what happens then? Is the ticket emailed or posted? If the latter, how incredibly twentieth century!

It’s posted, hence last day for postal tickets is Wednesday. I’m assuming we’ll be able to smoke and bring a carry out into Dens as the ticketing system is back in the 70’s

I would love a McParland pin but I can’t pick up in person, and I missed my window of opportunity for family to bring it to me.  And I don’t want to saddle TJF with postage costs.

Is it possible to make an arrangement to PayPal someone to mail it to me?  Fifth class, delivered by a Valkyrie riding a winged beast, whatever.

ChiThistle are you a member if so fill in the form and we can sort something out

Yes, I see the difference, since you have told me that the current TJF board is for negotiating purposes (to get the majority shareholding) only. And, I have always said on here that accountability means those on the board have to be re-elected periodically. But, I don’t understand why members of the TJF negotiating team, couldn’t include others who are prepared to go on the PTFC board, if they were elected. Surely what they would learn in discussion/negotiation with the PTFC board would help equip them later if they went on to the PTFC board?

It’s not for that reason only, but it’s the primary role.

The negotiation team just happens to have members who do not want to be on a CLUB board, I am no sure if many of the 9 would want to be on a club board

55% is greater than 45%, so if TJF have (hypothetically) the greater shareholding, there should  not be a stalemate when it comes to a six-member board. But, it may be completely immaterial because, looking at what we’ve been told on here recently and in AH’s statement, it seems as if TJF may want to leave the current PTFC board in place (which is presumably what JL/3BCs/present board wants.) My own view is that would be a mistake and I wonder if that is what most members of TJF or even other supporters who are not members-and might have eventually considered joining- were hoping for.

He does not state that, he states continuity is important in ALL business during any transition. All boards, whether PTFC or Jags Foundation should be elected and re-elected by its members or shareholders, that would be based on skills, performance and willingness (of board member to stand again). This is standard practice, no board changes all the time and no board lasts forever they transition over time

Very good piece written by Andrew Holloway, who seems a very nice guy and a good one to have in the TJF leadership. However, I am sorry he feels, as apparently, some others do on the TJF board, that they do not wish to be on the PTFC board or would be less than comfortable in that role. (I don’t see it in terms of ambition for TJF members.) I still feel there must be a number of TJF members on the PTFC board and I would suggest a majority, to ensure the whole ‘project’ is not weakened right at the start, and grounded before it’s taken flight.

    Reasons:

    a) The present PTFC board has been together for some time, and their ‘mindset’ (certainly re TJF) has appeared entrenched, (I think that’s fair to say!).

    b) If they accepted some TJF members-those willing to do it, who have suitable-crossover skills, knowledge  from previous experience(s), plus a good amount of common sense and a willingness to ‘learn’ on the job (Isn’t this what new directors of a football club have to have anyway if they’ve never done it before?) I don’t see why they couldn’t do it.  And, this would give encouragement to supporters knowing their representatives were there.

    c) It would also CRUCIALLY send a ‘signal’ which is really what we’re all hoping for, that things have moved on, we can put the past disagreements,  unhelpful comments and ‘statements’ in the past, and move forward together, to hopefully a brighter, better future with a new way of doing things.

I have tried to be as positive as I can in what I’ve said above, particularly not being too negative, regarding the current PTFC board. But, if that board stayed in situ, intact, I would have grave doubts about the future regarding fan ownership at Firhill. ‘Jags For Change’ must MEAN something, and those with power at the club now, need to be aware of that, conciliatory now and act on it in good faith (IMO). They need to show they’re prepared to give something of themselves towards this process. It cannot all come from compromises made by TJF. Others will have their own and maybe very different views, to which they’re entitled.

You are mixing the Foundation board and Operating (Club) board, if Andrew (like me) is not in this to get a seat on the club board but to get the shares transferred over, and allow the TJF to help nominate or approve other nominees to club board who have the inclination/talent/time/patience/skills to run the day to day business (operations) of the club.

Shareholders set direction of a business by either backing boards or adding or replacing members of operating board as needs or performance dictates.

I want every fan to join, to add their voice not only to the push for share transfer but to aid the Foundation board going forward with there views and backing (or otherwise) via board elections etc

Out of interest have you joined?

Down here, my main concern is to stay comfortable and and as cool as possible. It wasn’t pleasant yesterday, but it was worse further south. Today is meant to be worse still. Curtains drawn, windows closed to keep out the warm/hot air today. We’ve had a glimpse into the future, these last few days. Hope everyone  else on here who lives in England is okay.

39 degrees here in Connecticut, lovely day. Will miss the game as my flight is at 8pm UK time

Thanks for info. Under-16s currently don’t pay much or nothing for season tickets? Not sure on this. Would they have to pay to be members of TJF or do they have to be 18? Season tickets, as you say, are likely to be long established, but they are a useful indicator of the core fanbase. Do you think it’s worth having a presence at the ‘Open Day’?

Under 16’s cannot be members of the Foundation as law does not allow them to, but can be enlisted as “Friends of the foundation” we do not count these in our numbers.

We plan where feasible to have a presence at as much of the club events as possible, that includes open day if possible

TJF are working extremely hard to bring more fans into the Foundation fold, and support TJF being the vehicle for ownership of the 51% PTFC shares. The idea of meetings to encourage fans-members and non members- to attend is a good one, as is the badge shown above. The Davie McParland image suggests it will be a very nice quality item, and many members will want to collect all the others. With 600 members and only 100 badges for each player, it is most likely to be be a sell-out, with some being unlucky!  But, two statistics reveal that there is still much work to do, including explanation and persuasion, when it comes to getting more supporters to join TJF. Ie 660 have joined TJF, whilst 1300 have bought a season ticket. Why is this? There are always going to be some who choose not to join TJF, as there are are always some who chose not to do…’anything’ (we can think of!) but WHY such a disparity?

This large group, who haven’t signed up clearly all have their reasons and there could be a lot of very different ones. But, the task remains for TJF to reach out and make contact with these people somehow. To find out some of the reasons and see if they can be resolved and non-members persuaded. There may be many ways of doing this, but contact has to be made. Eg open meetings where Thistle supporters can attend and ask questions, questionnaires on-line and perhaps given out at the turnstiles. ‘Interviewing’ fans before matches could be useful. These are just a few examples.

But, the type of majority supporter-ownership I want to see is independent, where the leadership is able to make decisions whilst not beholden to anyone but the members, to whom it is accountable by on-going democracy. That principle should not be compromised on the way to making this vision possible, attainable, for the sake of anyone else or any thing. That should be THE red line. It certainly must be with regard to negotiations on the way to it happening.

I may have come across in the past as being critical of TJF, but, it was always more that I was/remain sceptical of the ‘other side’ (if this is the right phrase!)  In fact, I have been a supporter of football club supporter-ownership for a number of years, certainly well-before it was  mooted as a possible model for PTFC. I wish TJF well and those leading it seem to be taking things in the right direction. May this carry on being so!

I’ll try and address some of these points as best as I can.

    Pin Badges

We're deliberately keeping these limited as the quality is excellent and we wish these do become collectible, this is based on advice from other clubs doing similar. We have some fantastic ones coming over the next year, and the quality is excellent.

    Numbers Vs Season Tickets.

Season ticket numbers include U16’s whilst ours don’t. Season tickets are also long established whilst we are relatively new, but our numbers have grown by more than 20% in 5 weeks, yes we want every season ticket (and pay at the gate) fan to sign up, but whilst 100% of our fan base is Jags fans and want to watch the team, we will never get 100% to sign up, some aren’t interested, some against it, and some skeptical. We do though want to grow this as far as we can, and we have ideas on this.

    Engaging with fans.

We have the barbecue organized and other events on the horizon, plus we will be at games, on buses, basically everywhere we can to answer as many questions as possible and engage with as many fans as we can. Everyone of the 9 board members (even me)  are easy to reach out to and more than happy to answer what we can.

First and foremost we are a members organization the elected board answer to them, represent them and effectively can be removed by them if we don’t perform.

Great stuff, I now want a Chic Charnley one (sword optional)!

We plan for various players and personalities of past and near going forward, so you may get your wish (if your a member), are you sure you don’t want a Caldwell or a Pogba instead?

  11. We are today launching THISTLE PINS.  The very first will be none other than possibly the greatest jags ever - DAVIE McPARLAND.  This will be gifted to the first 600 active members of the foundation as thank you for getting us to this milestone.  Going forward they will be limited to just 100 of each edition, with priority given to our members.  More info here:

  12. This evening we reached 600 active members! We’re absolutely delighted at how many Thistle fans are backing the Foundation in what is still its first full year as a recruiting members organisation.

We have ambitions to grow the Foundation further still, and to help build a fan and community centred football club we can all be proud of.

More details will follow very shortly on the special gift for which all 600 of our active members are eligible.

The last update with figures was on 30th June 9 (the article on the Kingsley top) and that stated there were over 1300 season tickets sold at that point.

I don't know the exact figure for last season but 2,400 sticks in my mind for some reason so we would be more than 50% there in one month of sales with another month to go before the league starts. I would imagine given the financial climate some people might hold of until the end of July as the season ticket won't be used until the first home game at the start of August.

Anyone wanting to sign up now though is more than welcome:

Have you not counted the seats again?

It really was, although those 90 minutes were a tough workout for many Thistle hearts that day.

The tribute before the game with the old brake club banner, where the minutes silence changed to the whole packed  shed singing “There’s only one Jackie Husband” was a fantastic tribute to him

Club historian Robert Reid knows a thing or two about Partick Thistle legends, so when he describes Jackie Husband as a Thistle stalwart par excellence one must sit up and take notice. For whole new generations of Partick Thistle fans, “The Jackie Husband” has been part of the bi-weekly parlance for a good few decades now. The East stand named in his honour is an impressive engineering structure of concrete and steel, most certainly fit to house the Firhill faithful at Saturday worship. But what of thee Jackie Husband? What of the man, the legend?

Donald Turner had his eyes on Yoker Athletic's 20-year-old half-back at the start of our last pre-war season, and finally made his move towards the end of 1938. Little did he, or Jackie, know that this would be the start of a working relationship between a man and a club that would span almost 54 years, broken only by a two-year stint as manager of Queen of the South. 368 appearances and 12 goals doesn't even begin to tell the story of Jackie's involvement with Thistle; player, captain, trainer, coach, physiotherapist, scout, kitman, handyman, bus driver, pitch sander, not to mention being a general mentor to one and all, especially in his later years.

On the 77th anniversary of Jackie becoming the first Partick Thistle captain to lift a national trophy at Hampden Park, it's our great pleasure to look back at the life and times of the gentleman who was the very definition of “a great servant to the club”.

    Thee Jackie Husband →

We use the word “legend” at times too easily in football, but Jackie was a true Thistle legend.
An absolute lovely man as well, still a shame he missed seeing us being promoted by a few days.
