To give Jim's fingers a well earned rest I will answer this one.

The report from the club after the AGM stated the budgeted for loss was based on finishing in the playoffs and not getting past Ross County in the cup.

Do clubs actually benefit much financially from the play-offs? I seem to recall something about the gate money being split between the clubs and the SPFL. I do realise that the prize money is greater the higher up we finish.

What will happen is that after the Raith game Dools will step down Brian Graham will take over until the end of the season, he will win his next game and immediately be offered the job.

Dools has failed to see that the midfield cannot support the defence simply non-existent , they don't run, track or tackle, fouling is no problem right enough. Big Muirhead is not an out and out Centre but a first class sweeper, an outright ball winning centre half is a must. Dools would do well to look at last years play offs and the results from the Queens and Ayr game, identify the one player missing who played in the Ross game missed a clear opportunity and also a penalty.

the old boy network is still alive and kicking. professionalism is what is required at Firhill not the sand dancers and comic sing there is at present....

    Translation please.

  3. All the usual posters reappearing I see. "Thistle are rubbish, the manager's rubbish, the board are rubbish and the team is rubbish and all we need to do is go back to the old ways when life was so much better."

The thing is we are where we are. We have no money to sack the manager and bring in someone else. Doolan got the job because he was already on the payroll and was all we could afford. Our signings were done late because we were in the playoffs and couldn't afford to gamble on getting promoted. The board is in a period of transition due to changes enforced by people playing petty power games with our club. We are a fan owned club due to the fact that no-one wanted to invest in the 3rd/4th financially attractive club in Glasgow and the shareholders at the time were desperate to divest themselves of their responsibilty for a football club.

For me this season's goal should realistically be staying in this division. Being third, at this stage, is shooting above our level as we need this season to build for promotion next season or the one following.

To do that the defence needs sorted out but we're not going to do that by dropping everyone and anyone as we have no-one to replace them.

So by all means come on and moan about losing games and offer opinions about the solutions (that's what fans do)  but we are in danger of just rehashing  old conflicts over whose pals are best to run PTFC.

Agreed apart from someone from the Woman's Team being able to Coach the Men's Team - the levels are not comparable & the required fitness levels in the Men's Team are far higher

Surely the "level" of fitness attained is down to the player and not the coach. Or do you think someone coaching women would not be capable of coaching men?

If you care to check I questioned the fact we did not have a Fitness Coach - I didn't compare McCall to Doolan - others did that - I responded as the statement made was nonsense

And my original statement on fitness still stands

We only have Doolan, Paul McDonald, a fitness guy and KA as coaches in the backroom team. Seems a bit light compared to other clubs?

Can one (or both) of you clarify?

I've not playerd football above a free-for-all level at school so am no expert on behind the scenes but do teams train as defensive units or are the goalkeepers and back line treated as seperate?

  7. For me the  one thing that stood out as much as our defensive shortcomings was the lack of fitness in the team. Dunfermline were much sharper and quicker. We seem to have no desire to get forward quickly or to track back to defend. Our main tactict is to slow games down as much as possible and hope the opposition just switch off.

From the BBC Scotland thread on the game, interesting point by McCall:

"McCall isn't ruling out his former side - currently 10 points behind leaders Dundee United - making a late charge for the title, but reckons they'd be favourites had they done more to keep Kevin Holt and Ross Docherty last summer.

"I was pretty certain that given the correct deal, where it's since been proven that they could have afforded it, Holt and Docherty would both have stayed," said McCall.

"And I think them in this Thistle team would make them favourites for the title. There was just so much unrest around Thistle at the time and I think that's why they they got out the door."

So how would we have persuaded them to stay? Offer premiership wages?

You mean like the TJF Reps who turned up at the AGM and did not ask a single question ? ( that excludes WJ who asked a decent question remotely )

No thanks Martin - Im a shareholder - I will ask my own questions rather than the current “Beer and Sandwiches” cosy relationship between TJF and the Board

    So why didn't you?

6 minutes ago, Jordanhill Jag said:

    No you didn't

Why don't you explain why a requirement for £500K of Funding & selling off a Chunk of Shares was not put forward at the AGM as it was clearly know at that juncture ?

How many times does WJ need to answer this before you are going to accept the answer?

Was there an option to refurb tenements or at the time were they so dilapidated and people were so scunnered they wanted out of them?

My Dad moved from a tenement in Possil aged 5 with outdoor toilet, gas lighting in close, Grandparents in 1 living room/kitchen, 2 aunties in other and him, my Gran and Grandpa in other.  A bit cramped.

A lot of the tenements on Maryhill Road were demolished to accomodate a motorway to Loch Lomond which was then scrapped. The city fathers, through the 50s , had plans to replace all of Glasgow's tenements with new concrete boxes. These plans were changed following the storm of January '68 when there was so much damage done and no money for new building. That sparked an interest in refurbishing the tenements and the rise of local housing associations.

So the Women's team and the academy do not get direct funding from the club?

So they need to run on what funds they attract?

So no idea why they affect the club or its budget, apart from in a positive way?

It's beginning to look as though some people just don't like women or youngsters playing football!

One other question I have is why Tynecastle as the venue? I know it can't be Hampden because we have an important (?) friendly international on the Tuesday. When exactly did they decide the venue? Maybe somebody close to the women's game can tell me when did Hearts get knocked out, and by whom?

Whatever happened to the £5M that Colin Weir gave to Three Black Cats to manage ?

Wasn't that the money that bought the shares to be gifted to the fans' trust? Then there's management costs.

Very rare for any manager to drop the captain if fit and available. Not unknown, but rare

It's a cup game and Brian's "other team" have a big game the next day. So, who knows? Not even on the bus?

    1) The Board laid out its plan at the AGM - increase Hospitality - thats it - hence the questioning

    2) We have averaged circa £300K loss over the last Two Seasons - we are forecasting a £150K loss for this Season - however the previous Seasons did not have a donation of £175K from TJF - so in like for like Comparison on actual Trading the losses are pretty much the same as previous - TJF cash is giving a false impression that things have improved as a business

So you seem to be saying that if this was money put in by an individual shareholder it would be a good thing but because it is money put in by a collection of fan owners it is not.
