There was never an option for fan ownership - this is an urban myth

There was a takeover by 3BC headed up by Jlo with the undefined promise by Colin Weir of Fan Ownership that was never actually written down anywhere beyond reports in the Press

I don’t agree we were lucky how things panned out - without TJF and them sticking with it we would be in a different place right now - the luck part was getting Rangers in the Cup - without that £300K we would be in trouble

You really do have a selective memory.

I think what almost took us under was bad budgeting. It was nothing to do with Conway/Lee.

That's not what people are saying. The Conway/Lee route was seen by Beattie et al as the way to off-load their shares. There were a few on here who saw it as the way forward for the club and got quite upset when the option of fan ownership started to emerge.

What people are now seeing is that we were lucky that things panned out as they did, not claiming any sort of cause and effect.

It would not make any difference  to the sum the club would receive- only where the cash comes from. The current standard rate is 20%, so 20/ 120 would be the VAT output tax payable  by TJF. The club use the cash ( less TJF output tax) for making taxable supplies (VAT being chargeable on the club's income from entrance charges, etc) so the VAT charged by TJF is recoverable by the club as PTFC input tax, as the TJF cash is fully used by the club in the furtherance of making taxable supplies, as outlined above. Any (extremely unlikely) change to the Exempt Schedule to the VAT Act wouldn’t in reality make any difference.  Indeed TJF would be in the position of recovering VAT on their "standard rated" membership fees. There would of course be more complex bookkeeping needed by TJF.  Unlikely to happen.  The charity sector is very good in lobbying for the Exempt Schedule not to change.

Sounds a bit like the offside rule! :o

    OK D.D. I stand corrected.

The question then is how the 5% (100,000 pounds, if 2 million pounds is the transfer fee) is split.

Do clubs he was loaned to during his time as a Jag (East Stirlingshire, Ayr United and Dumbarton) get a cut?

Can't VAR sort this out.

So we dont reinvent History - we were 1 point from 4th with 30 Points to play for

At the end we finished 4th and on the last game of the Season -  we could have actually finished 6th if results had gone against us

We had a great run in the Play Offs - the Squad clicked in the Playoffs

it would be churlish simply to ignore the fact that McCall assembled a Good Squad

We have No idea what was going on in the background at the time - and the fact that we now find out that we were £600K in debt at the end of last Year is revealing - the fact that Februarys Wages would not be paid without the Cup Game is revealing

So I dont think we should be judging anyone on the Football Side under these circumstances

The fact we sacked McCall but no one has resigned or been sacked over the Financial Mess is again "revealing" as to the culture at the Club

I accept Football is brutal and Managers get sacked

But why has no one else been sacked for putting the Clubs existence at risk - where is the Board ?

You cant sack McCall and have different rules for others

it would be churlish simply to ignore the fact that McCall assembled a Good Squad

He maybe assembled them but didn't get the best out of them.

I don't know if I'm alone, but I'm certainly starting to feel quite resentful of the club. It seems as if previous boards (and I include the inept Gerry Britton in this) were happy to financially mismanage and roll the dice knowing that out gullable fans would bail them out again if it all went wrong.

The fans of most clubs are there to supplement income generated by the board. But once again we are the ones expected to bail out the mistakes of others (and I do believe that those responsible knew we would).

I just wonder how long the good will of the fans will last before they decide that it shouldn't be their responsibility to rescue the club once every five years.

(Obviously, the fan ownership model concerns me at time like this where we need investment).

I believe the fan ownership model is the only viable way forward for our club. If there are investors out there willing to put money in they will. Why would anyone buy the club when there would be no financial return?

I kinda knew it would end up sit (stand) anywhere but I asked three different stewards and they all said it was sit as per allocated ticket. Allocated seating leads to a poorer atmosphere, young kids, elderly often can't see all the pitch and considerably adds to the stewarding work load. Ends up they're never gonna be able to strictly enforce it anyway. Another thing when tickets sold are limited to one per person it means fans who attend games together are split up. Just wish whoever is the head steward would realise the impracticalities and get his/her subordinates all singing from the same hymn sheet.

The backing the team has been receiving of late (in truth, most of the season) has been exceptional. I put this almost entirely down to the younger support who have been tremendous. Obviously there's been a few dafties falling out of line, but I imagine given a wee bit of time self policing will come into effect.

The stewards will have been told that seating was allocated and that would be the line they passed on to fans. If they then told fans to sit where the liked they'd then have to deal with people who had seats together not getting them because others had taken "their" seat. A no-win situation for the stewards. Look at the thread on the forum where people were complaining that there was no allocated seating for the Firhill leg.

It still bothers me that during the penalty shoot out Bannigan was clearly feeling stressed as his turn was

approaching. Having your head in your hands does not give off the right body language at all.

His team captain, or Doolan should have noticed this and given him the option of opting out.

His confidence must have been dented by his display during the time he was on the pitch, not that he's suddenly a bad player, just that his style of play was not suited to this occasion.

Btw, I hope the Thistle fan who thought it clever to taunt and abuse the County player at the throw-in feels like the proper dick he clearly is.

Can you change the penalty takers after the shoot-out has begun?

    Is this still on?

Agree with @Duke Gekantawa comments about JL.

We could maybe have sold home tickets for CW Stand at City End.  Ross County have decent fans so little chance of any hassle.

If there had been more time to organise extra stewarding, police cover etc this may have been a possibility. Depends on how many couldn't get tickets if it would have been viable or not.

Sit where you want. Season tickets are irrelevant as they have been for other play off games. I say that as a season ticket holder. Some ST holders might want to sit in ‘their seat’ though as they always sit in the same seat

I will be sitting in my usual seat. As long as I get there before someone else sits in it. ;)

(I wonder if seat numbers will be adhered to in Dingwall?)

Are tickets for Dingwall available today? I can't get an answer when phoning the office.

They are, just back from buying mine from the office. Steady stream but not too big a queue.

The all-seater rule of the SPFL was abolished in 2013 when the merge to the SPFL took place. If Ayr were promoted to the Premiership they would not need to make any adjustments to their stadium(bar those for a media perspective to accommodate television and VAR)

So premiership clubs could have standing areas?

  14. 2 hours ago, Jaggernaut said:

Got to say that I thought the Ayr manager came across well here, in what is an interview principally for Ayr United fans. He graciously congratulates us, points out that their red-carded player lifted his hand against Muirhead, and makes the good point that next season's Championship will probably be harder than this season. That last point makes it all the more sensible for us to get out of this swamp by getting promoted now!

A question: if ever Ayr do get promoted, would they be allowed to play at Somerset, which despite it's quaintness is actually antiquated? Or, after shafting us with the JL stand, do the "authorities" now accept anything as a Premiership-compliant stadium?

Interesting to read about the stadium situation with Luton Town (and well done to them; amazing past few years!).

They would be allowed to play there but only within the capacity of the stand. I don't see how they or Queens Park could survive in the top flight with the limited income they'd have.

  15. I wonder if there will be any comeback on the club for delaying the kick-off. Suppose it will depend on the ref's report. The guy with the flare may not have been so bold if there hadn't been fans spilling on to the pitch during the transfer. Badly handled!

  16. 1 hour ago, G SUS said:

That only relates to the play-offs between(this year) Spartans, Brechin and Albion Rovers. For our play-off, the home club gets 15% off the top, then 50% to the SPFL(to help fund parachute payments) and then the rest gets kept by the home club.

So does the away club get nothing?
