Like FT if this was a referendum I'd have voted for Archie staying. That said I'm glad this decision is not down to us fans as I wouldn't my vote interpreted as a vote for the status quo. I expect big changes and truly believe the current manager can help enable that  outcome.

I completely understand and respect those who feel differently, those who feel Archie is either part of the problem or not capable of implementing positive change.  I've next to no time for those who believe the manager should go simply as a form of punishment but thankfully they're few and far between.  There certainly shouldn't be anyone gloating about today's announcement straight after a ******* relegation. That said I'm sure the any Jags fan not happy at Archie staying would welcome being gloated at further down the line.

LIB you are one of the fans who's post I really enjoy reading but please answer me this Archibalds reluctance to use younger players i.e. Penrice, Nisbet and to a certain extent McCarthy, why will next season be any different. Also he signed a lot of this season flops, surely if they go so should he.

Agreed and tho i was leaning towards the get rid mind set i was very impressed with his interview on jagzone. Very honest and forthright. His integrity and respect for the club is without question and i'll get right behind him and the team.

Some of the creatures  quoted for the job were quite concerning. Onwards and upwards.

What an ******** you are. Who are the " creatures " you refer to .

  3. Sammon played on the left wing so didn't really start in front of Nisbet or Storey (unless you think either of them would also be considered an option here?). Apparently he played here a lot for Kilmarnock last season so it's possible he's been signed as to play both here and as cover up front.

Sammon played on the left and Edwards on the right to stop Celtics attacking full backs. It would have made much more sense to have played Storey out wide if we wanted a wide attack player. Remind me how many times Sammon actually got into Celtics penalty box?

Saturday will be a bigger test for our 2 new signings, after winning 3-0 in the cup game both Storey and Sammon will be under pressure to produce if picked ahead of Nisbet.

I see Sammon purely as a back-up. A bit of a Jim McIntyre if you like ;)

We could perm any 2 from Doolan, Storey & Nisbet and be fine.

Better than Nisbet dropping two divisions and playing in front of 280 fans on a bloody cold January midweek game.

Let's believe in Archie's ability to develop him further as an integral part of the Firhill first team.

If you believe he is only with us as back up why did he play in front of both Storey and Nisbet.

Point taken but a makeshift stand Gretna style or jousting tent (Falkirk/NDP) would pay for itself quick enough. Once it had, the profits from increased attendance could be diverted into renovating the Main Stand if that was viable. Quick guestimate 300 bigots 3 times a season paying full whack realises circa £16K (net of vat). Add on the odd occasion Hearts, Aberdeen or Hibs sell out the Main Stand. Plus if you factor in the occasional home Cup game against the ugly sisters or even the other three clubs having extra capacity makes sense.

All that tho' depends on access and other considerations, which as we don't own the area outright is more than just problematic.

Temporary stand is a good idea LIB but as we do not own the land then all discussion is pointless. It will only be used for private development.

  6. This is what makes football such a great game, Barney thinks it wasn't a penalty and most of us think it was, unfortunately for the majority the referee agreed with Barney. Did we deserve a point, I don't think we did nearly enough. The first half was dreadful, second half better but you cannot wait until the last 10 minutes before deciding maybe we can get something.

Midfield we were very poor, silly fouls, poor decision making. Defensively we were very good, Turnbull and Keown were a good partnership and Elliot was very good, Booth much better tonight.

Attack wise I hope Storey starts before Sammon, difficult to judge on tonight's showing but I can't see Sammon scoring many goals. Even though we have lost both league games I can see promise but we need to get a win soon.

    Nae worries DJ.

I'm as frustrated about tonight as you are, and everyone else on here..... there are plenty of us.

Felt Sir Kris' misguided header was more important than the Storey incident. That was a chance and a half.

Agree, problem is strikers usually get 3 or 4 chances in a game. Against Celtic that doesn't happen, you have to score in that position.
