    Can’t be dropping Mitchell.

If we had options in midfield I’d happily see Bannigan at left back. Gives us nothing in middle of the park, but unfortunately no one else does either.

    Agreed.

Hodson offers nothing. Let’s do something radical!

Ive a sneaking feeling Smith might start. I watched training for 20 minutes yesterday.  He was the best player in the bounce game.

  2. Thistle are beyond awful to watch. It’s what I do on a Saturday so I’ll go anyway.

If we were losing 4-3 or drawing 2-2 it wouldn’t be so bad but I don’t want to see that turgid garbage.

Its not Doolans fault. We’ve made no progress since last season, being in approximately the same position with the same players 1 year older. The 2 full backs are a mark up but all McCall’s summer signings apart from these 2 are very very poor so Dools has nobody to bring on.

If we make the playoffs we’ll probably go down at the 1st hurdle with a whimper.

I’d keep the full backs, Tiffoney and Docherty. The rest can go. I appreciate this cannot happen but Dools has a hell of a task to rebuild the stodgiest team.

It was a truly terrific performance from the wee man, and in the sunshine it was a great game overall. I've always thought it was a shame that there's no video of that game and of the Scottish Cup semi-final draw against the same mob a few years later.

I think he was initially marked by a guy called Jim Denny who was humiliated by Johnny.

Cant remember if Denny was subbed but others then disgracefully took it in turn to kick Johnny off the park.

A magnificent performance and one of my favourite games.

  4. McAvoy looks a class above most if not all in our division, at least on a par with Harry Milne. It looked serious unfortunately.

It would have been possible to catch Gretna 2 if we had won yesterday  and with a fit McAvoy and Milne who both add defensive assurance and creativity.

It looks like 2nd is our best hope.

Morton were right up for it. We eventually got on top because it’s impossible to keep up that intensity for 90 minutes. They’re streetfighters, inspired by a streetfighting manager but not a football team. Both Crawfords, who can playlooked out of place.

All of their back 3 could have been booked for persistent fouling, a law the ref appeared oblivious to.
We dont play well against these teams. So I’m happy with a point.

Think that's a rash conclusion.  My understanding is squad were gutted he had left

I heard that too but he simply couldn’t motivate them any longer.

On Saturday they went up a gear after 25 minutes to destroy the opposition. No sign of that in previous 2 games.

I can't help but to correct some selective memory, claiming that it was only because of the injuries that we had those back to back defeats to Hamilton and Cove, but if you were to check, this was the line up  which faced Cove.

Not a bad starting 11 and all first team players with another 5 first team players on the bench. Even against Hamilton it was a decent enough starting 11, although I will admit that the bench was a bit week. (Sneddon, McMillan, Milne, Holt, Turner, Bannigan, Hodson, Mullen, Fitzpatrick, Muirhead, Docherty)

Also, Doolan has NOT YET been able to play a full side. yesterday he had Sneddon, Holt and Brownlie all out, arguably the starting central defence and keeper,  but still the team managed a clean sheet and convincing win. There have been at least 2 or 3 likely starters missing from every squad he has picked so far. Rather than saying "it's not fair, McCall never had a full team" why not start asking how good we will be when Doolan eventually gets a full team to select from.

The conclusion is that McCall lost the dressing room.

The Graham sending off was the final straw. He has been excellent under Dools. I hope he apologised to McCall.

  7. We played ok 1st half. But we didn’t look like scoring because the delivery into the box was shocking. Both full backs, Turner and Tiff were most culpable. These are arguably our best 4 players. McMillan in particular must learn not to take 3 touches. The number of times the ball sailed over the bar was diabolical. What’s the point of Milne busting a gut if he then crosses over the bye line?

Perhaps Lawless should have moved to number 10. Mullin should have scored from the 1 well delivered pass from Stevie from Inside Left. But he was blown over by a gust of wind.

McAvoy would have offered better distribution from the back.

2nd half was criminal. Dools has a helluva task with that lot. Just as well most are out of contract.

Can I just make the point that while yesterday's game might be remembered for several things -- crazy VAR decisions, the sacking of the Thistle management team despite the good performance, the almost inevitable loss of a late goal to lose the game against that shower -- let's not forget that there occurred surely the best-ever goal in Thistle's history! For more than 50 years Dan McLindon held that record, having dribbled around 7 Dundee United players all alone before dinking the ball past a bewildered Arab goalie. But yesterday Tiffoney totally outpaced the ENTIRE h un s team, who could only stand and watch, and then he proceeded to make their goalie look like a total diddy before calmly stroking the ball into the net. It was truly world-class, likely to get millions of views for years to come!

Rangers had a player called Roger Hynd who was regularly described as ‘statuesque’ as attackers ran rings round him. Sevco had 10 Roger Hynds and an extremely surly goalie as Tiff stroked it home!

  9. If McCall and his assistants walk away now, they can hold their heads up as having carried out a fairly good job. He’ll be respected and will pick up another position. He took over a shambles from Caldwell remember.

He can’t take us any further and should therefore go now without waiting to be sacked and effectively stealing a year’s salary.

Strange that Graham didn't pick up a single card till his 20th game this season and then collects 3 yellows and 1 red in his last 7 matches. I don't know if there's anything that can be read into that?

Agree that referees are supposed to use common sense regarding language. Also swearing at a referee would usually warrant only a yellow. Whatever it's still Graham I'm angry with. Others in the squad such as Tiffoney and Turner regularly make their feelings known to the ref and don't get carded. Graham either went way over the top with his mouthing off or underestimated the incompetence of the referee, something that was obvious to everybody else in the ground. Either way it would be highly ironic if his behaviour has helped contribute to the likelihood of him becoming the next Jags manager.

  11. We may or may not have got an equaliser but Graham’s sending off completely killed it.

His sending off was an absolute disgrace. He’s let down the fans and his manager. For a senior player who is supposedly interested in management he cuts a surly, self centred figure. His actions were childish, moronic, unwarranted. I wonder if he watched the Scottish rugby team come back from adversity to win. Sheer graft and dedication to the cause. These are words that these players don’t understand.

He really doesnt give a tupny. He should be dismissed immediately along with the management team who are unable to inspire. Are players fined these days for being sent off? They bloody well should be.

I ask again. What is the point of Lee Hodson? He’s useless in every position!

It’s interesting because by your own account you don’t get to games and that you post you have lost all interest in football and Partick Thistle and just can’t be bothered with it.

Yet you are literally on here for what seems like every hour of the day about it.  Gives me the opposite impression and more like you are obsessed with it

    Agreed.

    GRE should GTF

  13. We played with 3 defensive mids plus Turner. No creativity from that lot.

McMillan and Fitz wreaked havoc for 25 minutes but either fluffed a cross or there was nobody in the box. Surely Graham would have got on to something. We desperately needed another man in the box and if young Diack is a striker he should have been on after half an hour to help Mullen.

What was the point of Hodson?

The complete lack of initiative from the management was mystifying. We threw the kitchen sink for…. 4 minutes at the end. Beyond belief.

Banzo had his best form when Docherty was injured or moronically suspended. Coincidence?

Accies seem to have slightly turned the corner going by recent two results whilst we ,although winning last two ,have looked less than convincing . Need Graham and Doc back….Lawless would be nice also as we looked poor on both wings last week .

Why was Fitzy so bad? He’s been brilliant in the previous few games!

The Pars game proved how much we depend on wee Stevie.

  15. Several players have stepped up to the mark and suddenly become fitter. It’s amazing what a transfer window can do!

But we need a defensive mid like the guy QP have from Palace. Probably a CB also because we’ve had a weakness there and I don’t fully trust Aero or Brownlie.

And a number 10! Who doesn’t need one of them?

If Graham plays every week like he did vs Caley we don’t need a striker.

Tunji and Smith and possibly Mullin to be moved on. Don’t know how good Stanway and Lyon are because we ain’t seen them.

If they bring a decent crowd it should counter our boycott. Or do we invite them to join us by the canal ?

Please don’t continue the canal embarrassment. Nobody gives a tupny fxck.

If you’re really Jags fans, demonstrate inside the ground with fervour within the law  and encourage fellow protesters not to boycott.

  17. Thistle played ok against poor opposition in a library.

The sending offs were farcical. Who the hell is that ref? Excitable fool.

I felt sorry for the players who worked a good shift and the fans who paid their hard earned money. The atmosphere was non existent.

Boycotts are a complete waste of time and money. Jags supporters? No! Demonstrate inside the ground by all means. But don’t watch from the canal like the OF.
