  1. Can understand these sentiments and feel a bit low myself.

A play-off win v Dundee United would make me feel much better though.

Having said that, I'm pretty sure I've never followed Thistle because of our league position and results.

I'm sure you'll be the same in that regard.

What is it that's making folk turn against the team at a time when they need us most?

Performances are one thing, but Thistle are just Thistle to me and my support will never be based upon results.

I understand your disappointment in performances but things are much improved on all other fronts.

Having watched us in times of defeat against Cowdenbeath, times with an aged team, no youth set-up, lower leagues, poor facilities, no money etc., I feel these times are not so bad.

I would never dream we'd have many teams of different abilities, ages and sex, or that we'd have spent 5 years in the top league, planning our very own training facility.

I can only think that the current Thistle regeneration exercise has been so successful that our expectations have gone sky high.

When the hurt of defeat subsides, we are still Thistle.

Let's get behind our team and make them stay up.

Really don't know what osman has to do to get dropped. If he's not passing it backwards or pushing folk over for silly free kicks he's passing the ball out of play and blaming other players. His attitude stinks. Pass marks to lawless and McCarthy today but apart from that it was a pretty awful afternoon topped off by a pg version of fight club on garscube road after the game.

Killie allowed us to play up to the box and then snuffed us out as we are so predictable.

The Barton  substitution sums it all up. Archie is out of ideas.

I'm glad we have a replacement for Osman, in McCarthy.

Osman used to be good, but now plays like a lot of players after a big injury.

He's so nervous going in to a tackle that he watches the man instead of the ball.

Ball winning was just about all he ever had, so it's time for him to quit before he gets a worse injury.

Can't wait to see Archie standing near the dug-out on Saturday - arms folded - quick look at the watch - arms folded - quick look at the watch - arms folded -quick look at the watch etc., etc.,

Despite what people may think of his management credentials, Archie has always been a class act with regard to his behaviour.

The fact that the worst anyone can say about him is that he folds his arms and looks at his watch, says it all.

The table and recent form doesn’t lie, on 31 games they are a better team than us, they lost a goal and responded by equalizing and trying to win.

we lose a goal and normally we lose another, Tuesday is massive not only for points but physiologically as well, lose it and we’re down.

its all well saying Dundee are poor, but so are we, 1 point from last 7 games says we’re dugshit this season

Hard to disagree and may well be on the same band wagon at 4.50 on Saturday.

Until then, I dream of 4 points and a rousing finish to a season I'll never choose to look back on.

Dundee were a goal down after 2 minutes on our form this season we would have ended up losing the game if that happened to us.We have had chances to put pressure on Dundee and Hamilton but we blew it when we lost the games against them after being in the lead.We will only finish in 10th if we go on a run of positive results. You say we have 7 games to go and only 4 points behind Dundee,in our last 7 games we have picked up 1 point.

Realised that after watching the highlights... Looked like a game of two halfs really.

I don't think I really disagree with much of what is being said, but, and don't ask me why, take a more positive approach with the upcoming games.

Dundee have two difficult games that should hopefully mean zero points.

We have the bottom team away and Killie at home.

Both extremely difficult given our form but a draw in Dingwall and a home win on Saturday are not out f the question.

Imagine how the table will look then going in to the last 5 games.

I'm not too sure. My uncertainty stems from the advantage they may gain from their playing surface.  Have been saying the same thing  for a long while regardless of where we've been in the league.

I'm sure they gain an advantage but bet that most players would choose grass rather than any advantage gained on that terrible surface.

    I'd ban it personally.

I can't remember if it was at home or not, but remember thinking Hamilton have dropped points and would feel aggrieved in doing so. Particularly earlier in the season.

The same Dundee that got a point (should have won) against hearts,

The same Dundee that had as many shots on target today as we’ve had in our last 3 games combined

Dundee & Accies are better teams than us this season, our results against them and league standings (not to mention form guide) demonstrate that clearly

Fine, but what would you be saying about Thistle if we went a goal up and played as well as Dundee today only to draw? Even though it was more Hearts having an off day.

Sh4t the bed. Always lose a lead. Point no good at home. Can't take our chances. etc. etc.

I agree about Hamilton deserving to stay up and have said previously they will feel unlucky this season.

Dundee and Ross Cty are poor and we have every chance of finishing above them both.

I don't really care that Dundee may have played marginally better than us over 30 or so games.

We're only 4 points behind them and have 7 games to go.

  8. There's two sides to this of course and I'm not really qualified to talk about one of them as I haven't been to a game yet this season.

I do feel for the fans that go and watch the team live and pay good money to be extremely disappointed with results and style of play.

I do however, not care how we stay up, as long as we do just that.

I've spent too many of my years following Thistle in lower leagues and will easily forgive them for this season when all is said and done.

Others may find that more difficult to do, having watched them live every week.

Dundee are a mess? What does that say about us? Dundee are 3points ahead of us with a game in hand and they have beaten us in the last 2 games we have played each other.

They've also lost 4-0 and 4-1 at home to St. Johnstone and Ross Cty in recent weeks and have a manager serving a 2 game ban for fighting.

We are 1 of 4 teams that can argue they've not had a great season.

We're still in the mix and are > 50% to not finish bottom.

Win on Tuesday and we'll be > 85% to not finish bottom.

Completely made the maths up btw, but feel it's close to this.

I don't yet see this season as a complete write off.

  10. Haven't seen anything of today's game but the result was expected.

Tuesday won't decide where we finish but a win will make it very difficult for Ross Cty to stay up.

3 home games and an away game to St. Johnstone in our last 5 should keep us up.

Dundee are a mess and we could still catch them.

    All is not lost, yet.

  11. I don't like either 3-5-2 or 4-2-3-1.

The deep middle is too congested and the 3 centre backs all want to be the sweeper and leave the ball to one another.

How many defenders do you need to mark a sole striker anyway?

Neither Barton or Osman would get near my team, so there's two less lay-about ball watchers to worry about in any case.

Alan Archibald is close to becoming just the THIRD manager in Thistle's history to be solely responsible for keeping Thistle in the Top 10 of Scottish football in five successive campaigns.

    Go on Arch.

    :ptfc:

Can hardly believe this stat. Completely dumbfounded in fact.

    Go on Archie indeed!!

  13. 1-2 v Celtic at Parkhead - biggest away support barr Rangers my Celtic mate says he's ever seen.

Dundee at Firhill when Geordie Shaw scored 4. Think it was 6-2 or 6-3?

Dundee away 1-2. Isaac English scored as we leap-frogged Dundee to go top of the 1st Div.

Special mention as we christened the Motorola Stand and beat Motherwell 2-3 after being down 2-0 at half-time. 1992ish.

  14. Enjoyed the full coverage on Alba.

Very competent team performance with I'm guessing, some excellent instruction from the management team.

Battled for every ball and played some neat football in atrocious conditions.

I won't answer any post directly but will say that in my 40+ years as a Jags fan, I can never remember a point against Aberdeen being a bad one.

A quick note on Blackpool Jags post, which I feel has been taken personally by some Jags fans on the forum.

It's true we're all Thistle fans and it's fine that we all have different ways of showing it.

BJ's post was a negative attack from a positive fan. This is no different to the negative attacks from the negative fans, i.e. 'happy clapper' remarks etc.

We choose to support our team differently and feel the pain in different ways.

In the midst of it all, after a jibe here and there, we all can't wait to beat The Rangers and lift a Cup one day.

Never been a fan of the split and what you say is one of the reasons why.  However it seems we are stuck with it.  If had to choose Motherwell at home please (with our awful record away there) and also Hamilton at Firhill (with their awful pitch and general miserable experience match day experience being the reason).

As well as this, we need St. Johnstone away.

I agree with most  of the things you say CJ.I said at the beginning of the season as long as we finished no lower than 10th it would be success.I also am old enough to realise we are going through better times for us,although it doesn't feel like that at times coming away from Firhill after games like Saturday's.I do though think we should expect to get the best of Hamilton and be able to do as good as the other teams of the bottom 6,as this is what has kept us in the league so far.Of course I agree with you,it has always been and always be great to be a Jag:fan:

Totally agree AJ. I feel the hurt from 350 miles away and my missus is always asking me how come Thistle always seem to get cheating b****** refs, lol.

NDP is a tough place to go and Hamilton will feel a bit unlucky so far this season.

Let's come away with a great win and we'll all be happy.

Out with a few mates on Saturday who also live here in Corby.

A St. Mirren fan, Aberdeen, Celtic and Motherwell among them. It's not easy losing even when you live this far away.

    All the best :)

I think using a hard start and a hard run in is just an excuse.we have played 27 games now .Some of our better performances have been against the bigger teams and some of our worst performances have been against the teams  we should be beating, like Motherwell,Kilmarnock & Dundee. It is still in our own hands. But we need to win on Saturday.

I just don't see any teams in the league I think we should be beating and think any disadvantage, no matter how slight, is damaging to us.

I'm genuinely still happy at the end of the season if we avoid relegation by any means and think we're still building the foundations of a better Thistle.

This season has been difficult with lots of injuries, some poor performances and players that have yet to and may never recover from lengthy spells of rehabilitation.

I'm old enough to have seen worse times than this, as many of you are and am more than a bit proud to be as good as teams like Motherwell, St. Johnstone, Dundee and to be bitterly disappointed not to beat The Rangers, Hibs, Hearts and even Celtic a wee bit.

Despite the heartache of last minute defeats, this is a great time to be a Jag but then again, I guess it always has been and always will be:fan:

Now I've started a new job, I'll definitely be up for a game after the split.

I'm normally good for at least a draw, so we better hang on in there til then.

We have 6 games left before the split ,  a possible 18 points available .we have by far the hardest run in of games compared to others around us..     Hamilton and St Johnstone have got 2 games in hand over us   it does not look  to  clever...I cant  see us  getting  any more than 4 points from our remaining games pre  split. The last 7 minutes on Saturday  have really put us in the mire............

The hardest run in and the hardest start.

Not how I'd prefer it but some say it balances itself out over the season.

The games might but the damage a poor start does can never be 'balanced' out. And as for the finish, well that just compounds that damage.

We have a small window in the middle to overcome the bad start, drag ourselves back into a relegation battle in time for a most probably pointless finish.

A bit like in the cup where we get all the hard teams away from home in the early rounds.

If we could just get past them, it would even itself out and we'd get Falkirk at home or something.

  19. Lots of disappointment this season but we are thistle after all.

Not writing this season off as a bad one just yet and would still settle for staying up by any means come the final knockings.

There are players I would drop and players I would never play again.

Bad form is forgivable but it goes beyond that with one or two.

Archie usually does the right thing where this is concerned and I'm sure he will come the end of the season.

In the meantime, we need the players with heart to try their best in every game. I'm sure we'll be ok if this happens.

We're in for a bumpy ride no doubt, but are still way more likely to finish 10th than 12th.
