Off topic but definitely doesn't deserve a new thread.
I often wonder if any of the posters here lived in Cumlodden Drive in the mid to late 70's.
I was staying with my Auntie and cousins and despite being a Rangers fan, my cousin agreed to take me to Firhill. I was Thistle daft.
He took me to a pals house, who didn't happen to be in, but his lovely Mum let me choose a Thistle scarf to wear to the game.
I was only 7 or 8 and remember being dazzled by the selection he had. I really wanted to, but remember not taking the one with all of the badges on, as I thought this was too special.
The scarf was returned btw.
Anyone on here relate to that?

So your looking down the Barrel of a £600K Black Hole and the strategy is lets see if we get lucky in the Draw ? Why not take all the Money you have in the Bank and bet it on Paddys Boy in the 2:30 at Newmarket - its the same thing !!!
It's not the same thing, as the cup win example has implied odds.
Going back to the point of the 'rush back from Ibrox' and sack McCall thing. This was a disgrace on many levels and even to the point that the aftermath of this, ruined our glorious defeat on that day.
Why anyone would have felt that to be a good idea, is beyond me and I've yet to hear anyone say that the timing of this was proper. I don't think there is any argument to be had on this.
The arguments around whether McCall should still be manager or if Doolan is good enough etc., are down to the individual.
Personally, I've always liked the idea of Doolan as Manager and Trainer, with McCall taking on the other duties.

Feels like a win win situation for some.
Join in the fun if we win and get to be proved right if we lose.
There's probably a grain of truth in what most of you / us say but I listen to us in the same way I do pundits, with caution and for some entertainment.

What is it with us and Cups?
Nothing but bitter disappointment.

I feel a bit aggrieved that my £5 bet on Brian to score the first goal isn't being paid out!!!
If he's not the first goal scorer in the game who is?
There is no first scorer as it stands. Own goals don't count.
Been a while but do you get your money back if there is no first scorer?

I guess the next 110 minutes will tell us what we're in for this season.
And who knows, we might pull one back and take it to extra time.

Albert Craig?
He has connections to my hometown and I'm sure someone mentioned he was a Thistle fan.

Is it really one that can be discounted ? I think last year’s defeat at Falkirk was the beginning of the end for McCall as it showed that what we thought was a good squad wasn’t as good as we thought.
If it was the beginning of the end for McCall, then it was because he thought that our second string and I probably include Fitzpatrick in that at the time, were good enough, when they clearly were nowhere near.
I was at the game with friends and family, including my nephew, who was attending his first game, and felt cheated tbh.
There was a decent Thistle support there that night and for me, McCall chose minutes in untried and uncaring legs over trying to win the game.
He chose to discount it, the fans clearly didn't.
Having said that, I'll stick by my point and say that overall, I was less disappointed with this loss than a loss in any other competition, including the league of course.

It's one of those that we can readily discount, should we lose in one of the early rounds. Falkirk away last year being an example.
On the other hand, the final at Livi v QOS, was a great day out.
I wouldn't mind another one of those tbh.

Didn't want to start a new thread.......
This girl is very good and talks well about football in general.
Her Mum gives her a great answer on the phone in the video from 7.35 onwards.
Up The Jags.

Does anyone know if season tickets are included in match attendance figures even if the holder doesn't attend?
I've been trying to figure out how many season ticket holder we had last season.
Our lowest attendance at home was against ICT on 23rd December with a crowd of 2243.
If season tickets are including in match attendances then that means we could only have had a maximum of 2243 for the first half of last season. In reality it would be nearer 2100 by the time you take of ICT support and complementary tickets.
Our lowest attendance in the new year after the half season tickets are sold was 2432 against Cove. Which would suggest season tickets were around 2200 at peak if they are included in match day attendances.
If they were included, that would mean very few, if any, pay at the gate fans.
I'm guessing they're not included in the attendance figures.

Waited until the Open Day was over before doing this week's count and the figure is 2435
Looking for a big week as we head to the start of the league campaign. For most people it was either payday on Friday or will be on Monday so let's hope we see those people holding off until the last possible moment renew/purchase (if they can).
Office/phone lines open at 1pm on Monday until 4pm (same on Friday) and between 10am and 4pm Tuesday to Thursday. Online sales are 24/7:
Add another 1 to the number, if you counted more than an hour ago.

3rd best outcome from a financial point of view and we might just nick it.
Glad the Dundee's are out too.

May have got carried away. Make that £55k.
Still a good amount.
I guess there's half of any gate fee to add to this?

Get through this and things could go our way.
Looks like most of the teams from the North East are going out.
St Johnstone, Dundee United, Inverness and Dundee look out already, with Raith looking like they could also struggle to progress.
I wonder who we'll get of Ross County or Aberdeen should we win on Saturday.

Was sent an email previously from Allan McGraw.
All went well and I received a payment from The Jags Pot Society.
I'm still owed two footballs and the collection of those hasn't gone as well.

So far from what I can mind we've mainly been taking in-swingers. So it's been Lawless from the right and Fitzpatrick from the left. I don't recall any variation.
Not sure, think maybe Lawless, took one from the right that was straight to the penalty spot.
A slight variation from the in-swinger and we nearly scored from it.

Personally I think Kris Doolan will make a fantastic CEO when he is announced on Friday.
Hopefully it won’t interfere with his other responsibilities like running the team and working the pie stall at halftime.
Exactly.
You can't act like you mean business, unless you act like a Business.
Some would strip the club bare given the chance.
Gerry Britton has done a lot for the club and brought in much needed new sponsorship. I attended a night at the club and his customer service team, who were fantastic on the night, seemed to hold him in high regard. No-one spoke about him but he was referred to in a good light, when a question was asked.
A sincere thanks for all you've done Gerry.

I wonder if a win on Saturday, could help Doolans' budget for players.
Could also be a big crowd on Saturday, which helps too.

Thought Williams came onto a steady game in the 2nd half.
Other than the mistake, I thought he played well. His positional play was pretty decent and he had a good sense of where the ball was landing when the Arabs punted it forward.

Yes. But it is just a warm up event nowadays. Not a really competitive competition. And a lot of clubs use as pre season.
Format has to change.
It replaces pre-season friendlies with competitive games and gives the lower league clubs some revenue, as they get to play 3 or 4 games, instead of being knocked out in the first round.
The League Cup proper starts after the group matches and is pretty relevant as far as I'm concerned.
I'd celebrate like there was no tomorrow if we won it.
-
Seems we scored the first goal of the new season.
I bet we haven't done that too many time in our history.
-
Don't want to bock the result but our record in the group stages of this tournament is second to none.
Is a good start and hope we keep it going.
See the replacement Rangers, (if ever they were needed), have their first penalty of the season. That's Killie btw.

I'm still of a mind that one day, the Bing will be transformed into a terracing once more.
I'd wait until we could name that in honour of Mr. McParland, with the road behind, already suitably named.
