  1. If this is the right place to ask this I have a left field question for the archive. I went to Wyndford Primary School in Maryhill from 1969/70 to 1977. I have a (fading) memory that our school Janitor had a connection to Thistle, and the piece on Jimmy Davidson at the World Cup made me think it might have been him? I'm thinking if anyone knows this page would...thanks.

Not much since leaving St.Mirren ?

A 50% win rate at Sunderland over 75 games (just 10 defeats) and an EFL cup final

A 50% win rate at Hibs over 96 games including a Scottish Cup final

If that is “not doing much” then bring it on.

No mention of Dundee United I see - sacked after seven games in charge.

Interesting comparison on PPM for both candidates:

    Ian McCall

    Jack Ross

McCalls figures might be skewed as he's managed many more games, mainly due to Ross being sacked after 1.5 seasons at Sunderland and 2 at Hibs, the latter losing 7 out of 9 of his last games.

I'm no fan of McCall and think his time is up but wouldn't be keen to jump at Ross either.

For Thistle we need a manager who has can organise a team, can win the championship and can play reasonably attractive football. Lennon did that with Hibs and Ross did that with St Mirren

Can't remember where I read it, might even have been on here, but when Jack Ross left St Mirren it was touted that his assistant ot coach was the catalyst and not him. After leaving St Mirren and not doing much after it seems there might be truth in that; personally I wouldn't touch him.

    Groups Stage

Work through the groups and decide which position each team will finish.

For example: Group A. Qatar to finish 4th; Ecuador 3rd; Senegal 1st; Netherlands 2nd. Your entry will be 4312. Repeat for all Groups and post all 32 numbers.

One point for each correct position. Bonus point if all four teams in a group are correct.

Please note: Only teams that you predict for first or second place in each group will be available for you to select in the knockout phase of the tournament.

Deadline for entries 3pm, Sunday 20 November

Thanks BB for another chance to show how bad I am at predicting football matches!

    Group A: 3,2,4,1

    Group B: 1,4,2,3

    Group C: 1,4,2,3

    Group D: 1,3,2,4

    Group E: 2,4,1,3

    Group F; 1,4,2,3

    Group G: 1,3,2,4

    Group H: 1,2,4,3

    Cheers

I believe that the rule is a 9 day moratorium on fixtures which may call the Cove game on Saturday 17th into question as well.

Personally I think that postponing either or both of the Ayr and Cove fixtures is a ridiculous over-reaction, While not a royalist, I would have been  very happy to pay respect to the late Queen with a minute's silence before either or both games.  No idea why all of life has to be cancelled. In many ways the Queen seemed to embody keeping going through all circumstances, so proceeding with the games while paying respect seems to be more true to her spirit than cancelling everything!

I would tend to agree with you but scenes at Tynecastle earlier, when they tried a minutes silence at half time, were appalling.

The powers that be probably don't want to see that again.
