  1. We have two options - give up supporting the team that we love or get behind Beattie and hope that he turns the club round. My choice is the latter and it should be yours too.

There is always a third way (tony blair circa 2003  ) probably a lot more than that in actuality. As you say Beattie has shown the cojones for what ever reason to actually run the club so I guess he needs to be supported as long as propco rumours are not true

  2. Worrying about the club and sharing those worries with other fans has usually been the first step towards trying to do something to fix it.

Still see lots of people pounding the Jags Trust for its undeniable uselessness, but if you actually want it to be useful, how many have bothered to sign up so they can vote for change? Not so many. Sitting at your computer clicking your way through a survey, no problem. Moaning about decisions you don't like, skooshy. You want the top off my ginger bottle? Happy to oblige. But making the slightest genuine effort to change the situation...nah.

The club is in a state, but no more so than us ourselves.

Get out for a nice walk in the park, its a lovely day :P

  3. There is not a manager alive that has tasted as much success in the Scottish Football League as John Lambie.

Lambie, 70, was a first division league winner with Hamilton Accies in the 1985-86 season and then again in 1987-88. He also went on to win the championship with Partick Thistle in 2001-02 .

On top these three first division titles, he triumphed by leading Partick Thistle to the second division 2000-01 title and won promotion to the old premier league with the Glasgow club in his second of three managerial spells at Firhill in the early 1990s.

Now, as Raith Rovers and Dunfermline head into a two horse race for the title, Lambie is adamant that team spirit and the will to win are the deciding factors which will determine who comes out on top.

And while the former Douglas Park and Firhill boss isn’t overly impressed with this season’s football on offer, he knows the key to success.

He said: “The most important thing is that you have got to have a strong bond with your players. Don’t get me wrong, a few skilful players help, but you’ve got to have to be able to have a laugh with them.

“I had one or two head-bangers during my various spells at Firhill, but I got no trouble from them. I had Chic Charnely, Don McVicar (who sadly died of Motor Neuron Disease, aged only 43) and Roddy Grant. Christ, and I even signed big Martin Hardie...for £1000. No wonder they call him mental – he is!

“But when Martin Hardie puts on the jersey on he gives you everything he’s got and you can’t beat that.

“Martin is the type of player you need to win the first division.

“He is still a good player. I still fancy Dunfermline to win the league. I’ve seen them even more than I’ve seen my own club (Partick Thistle) this season.

“But a lot of the games are so bad it’s unbelievable. It’s meant to be entertainment in the first division but Christ – it would send you to sleep sometimes.”

Lambie reckons there are no great shakes on this season’s SFL First Division shortlist for First DivisionPlayer of theYear, which includes John Baird (Raith), Andy Kirk (Dunfermline) Gary Harkins and Sean Higgins (both of Dundee).

He said: “I couldn’t pick out any real individual for player of the year. I think Gary Harkins has bags of talent but he’s a bandit. He wouldn’t make my top list of players.”

Lambie admitted that Ian McCall’s departure from Firhill makes him concerned for the future of Partick Thistle, or ‘his club’ as he affectionately calls them.

“Ian did a good job at Thistle, I watched them against Dunfermline a couple of weeks ago and I can tell you that they are a very hard team to break down and tough team to beat.

“But the pitch at home is terrible, it’s like Portobello Sands, and that doesn’t suit the style Thistle like to play. “

He might be a 'never-say-never' man, but The Maryhill Messiah is highly unlikely to be taking charge again of first team matters at Firhill.

“I think I’ve had enough. In a different capacity maybe, but if you go into something you want to do it well and I just don’t see the right materials there.

“If I was going back into the job I’d want promotion. That would be my number one aim. But I think the club are a wee bit short financially for that.

“I just hope I live to see Partick Thistle back in the Scottish Premier League again.”

  4. Dundee tried to get him when they sacked Jocky Scott which was March last year;

Funny how not many Jaggoes gave a sh!t at this point. Most were upset that the compensation figure stopped Jobbie from leaving if I remember correctly? How fickle we are :D

  5. Wondered as Weatherson doesn`t seem to be flavour of the month at Morton at the moment if they would be interested in a swap for Grehan.Moore was clearly a fan of Grehan when he had him at Stirling and we supposedly tried to sign Weatherson,do you think this is something we could persue?Thoughts

Weatherston one of if not the highest earner at crappilow, unlikely unless he gets a free.

  6. We'll never get anywhere near Mortons figure. We're too disorganised as a fanbase. This was an ideal opportunity for the Jags Trust to get involved in something that could've helped promote their deid duck cause.. where are they to be seen in all this?

The Ton will be found to have been using frosty jack lids and be thrown out. If they were eligible I could easily get about 500 from walking up the kelvin to dawsholm :op

Seriously, could be better led by club.

  7. As long as everyone is fit it's the easy choice of same as last time for me. If McNamara can't manage 2 games in the space of a few days then straight swap for Balatoni and keep the 3-5-2 formation. Hopefully the midfield 3 of Rowson, McGowan and Erskine get a chance to build on Saturday too. Falkirk seem to get frustrated when we sit back and allow them to pass the ball about to no great effect, hopefully we can be the team that finishes Pressley's stint as Falkirk mananger. :thumbsup2:

    1. Fox

    2. Paton

    3. Boyle

    4. McNamara

    5. Robertson

    6. Archibald

    7. McGowan

    8. Rowson

    9. Doolan

    10. Grehan

    11. Erskine

I would be happy with that team. McGowan a decent addition and a better pick than Hodge or Cairney imo.

2-0 Thistle. This will make us the form away team of the division ;op

  8. On negative side worried by inclusion of just one out and out central midfielder, Fletcher but on positive side other boys in midfield have quite an attacking side to their game. Not sure if he's going for possession. He's definetley got a gameplan and has no doubt had mick oliver and other scouts reports to work on. Lithuania beat this mob so not too fearful. We might even get a win :PB)

  9. I've quite liked the look of Kris Commons this season. His team have had hit and miss form but he has been prominent in the games I've seen and in terms of goals and assists.

Is it just me or does craig levein look like the character joe tobin from the second series of damages? Anyway he seems to make up selection rules as goes along. No players who haven't had a run in their club side, i.e. Maloney then contradicted by playing hutton who had played less games. No doubt Gary Caldwell will get a start despite not playing for however long. Rumours now spreading that miller will be dropped for mackie. I guess we'll find out tomorrow when team is announced ;)
