Presumably we were paying little to none of the loanees' wages? Certainly I'd be surprised if we were paying Williamson, McGinley maybe less so.

So of the three departures it's only one wage freed but does create gaps for other additions nonetheless.

More senior players you tend to pay around 50% maybe not as much, if anything for youth/ young players.

Then you get the likes of Dowds where its safe to say Ayr are paying the majority if not 100% of his wages.

Apparently we rejected the option to recall Anton last month.

  2. As a season where we came into it in a state of financial distress the club has moved to make us more resilient in that sphere.

That has been stabilised thanks to hard work off field and the crowds have been decent this year.

On the playing side we lost 4 key players and had to go for some untried players or ones with injury issues and filled out the squad with loans.

We have also extended the contracts of some of our remaining potential assets and important players.

The recruitment has been hit and miss. Neilson has been good. Wasiri Williams has come onto a game. Robinson has spent most time unavailable as has McGinley. Same with Ngwenya.

McInroy and Alston have shown up well at times but also been found missing at other times, even in the same game.

McDonald isn't cutting the mustard and Adeloye is going that way after some decent cameos and goals. Williamson has faded out the picture too and is rumoured to be off to Hamilton.

Ben Stanway has done very well in his first real tilt at first team football.

Results determine where you are and the league table is a fair reflection of where we are, on the field. Way ahead and more consistent than the bottom 7 and behind the top 2.

Disappointed with performances against Dundee Utd, with Friday being even worse than the 5-0 pumping.

The Raith games were disappointing in that we should have won both but they have this penchant for late goals.

I'm confident of at least third as not anyone rising from the mediocre mire below. I feel United will edge out to win the league from Rovers. There is a chance we could get closer to Raith as they've hit a relative wobbly period but that is a big ask. Raith may well add to their squad or at least not lose any key players. They have had large investment, increased their season tickets and average over 4000 at home games.

The management need to make 2 or 3 additions in January. A defensive midfield in the Doc mould. Another winger and a central defender. Possibly another striker unless Tomi can pull up his socks in the New Year.

It is still a period of transition for the club, management and the squad but we are doing pretty well, I would say. We will look to improve and build up momentum,  going into the playoffs.

    TL;DR Half time report.

100% its a legitimate way and we  worked very efficiently using Volunteers in the past - a small organisation like Thistle cannot afford a large Non Playing Staff Overhead as a % of overall budget

As for “ zero clubs” Saint Johnstone have traded for Years at a profit - so your statement is incorrect

They profit or used to, from having hospitality services next the local crematorium.

Made a big loss last season.

For games not covered by season ticket i go up to portacabin behind JHS and get my ticket there on the day of the game.

IIRC before covid you could add games not covered by the season ticket on to the ticket either via online or a phone call to the office.

This is a bugbear of mine, okay for most cup games bit didn't get my own seat once during the playoff games last season.

How hard can it be? You can add ticket to the APP but not necessarily for your ST seat.

  5. I wonder with our current absentees, there is an argument to play three at the back and utilise the energy of McKenzie and Milne as wing-backs?

Would then be McInroy/ Lawless, Bannigan and Stanway in the middle with Tomi and Brian Graham up top.

Might not be pretty but could be effective?

👍 That's fantastic. Thanks for posting.

Nice to see Ian Archer* a guy I knew quite well. Sadly missed. Passed away far too early as of course did Brian W.

*Just out of curiosity anyone confirm that's the Press Bar in Albion St?

I met Ian before my first Scotland game. Was in the 3 in 1 now Dram on Woodlands Road and he signed his piece in the programme for me.
