The fella that's been bankrolling ICT is stating they need to move to a smaller stadium to save costs. Anyone else see the irony?
For me, Firhill in its current state isn't what you could call a top-class stadium, but ICT's is an eyesore, and totally devoid of any atmosphere other than that of the ungrateful dead.

Agree. Ticking a few of those boxes?
Pity the interviewer must suffer from claustrophobia. Would've been better held indoors out of the wind.
I thought it was done outside to symbolize the wind of change.....

Great photo. Looks like a packed main stand and enclosure, with the lamps above the dug track.

Dools might be a good geographical fit for QP
I've been thinking that too.

Agreed regarding Holt and Brownlie, but who is hiding behind Hyde?
Looks like Graham...

Quick rundown on performances.
Bud: OK, one minor fumble. Still to see him needing to pull off a great save, but happy for him not to have to do that!
Megwa: Certainly improved compared to a month or two ago. For a wee guy he gets a lot of headers in.
Reid: Solid
McBeth: MotM. Great chest-down and shot for his goal.
Ashcroft: Excellent, reliable. Should be one of the first on the team sheet for each game.
O'Reilly: Good, solid performance.
Turner: For me he too often fails to control simple passes, his attempted tackles are lightweight, and most attempted passes get blocked by the first man.
I'm not impressed by his performances this season.
Bannigan: Decent enough performance, nothing especially creative. He does win more than his fair share of headers.
Crawford: Ran about, blended in.
Chalmers: Took his goal brilliantly. Maybe slightly less dangerous than in the past few games, but clearly on good form just now.
Graham: Loved his flick through to Chalmers for the first goal. Put in his usual shift; wasn't presented with any clear scoring chances (in fact, we didn't have many).
Subs:
Kelly: Liked the look of the big guy; covered well, passed well. I think he might settle in nicely if he gets a few games.
Fitzpatrick: Looked energetic and enthusiastic. Good to see him like this.
Jakubiak: A real nuisance to defenders, strong enough to deal with most body challenges, and deceptively fast. I think he looks better than he did in his previous spell with us.
MacKenzie: I remember just one touch, unfortunately a poor one which ended what was a very nice move by several Jags players. He needs more game time to get going, not just 10 min or so at the end of matches.

1st goal was scored by Chalmers, from a great short pass from Graham. Not really any real chances ; we took our two very well.
For me so far Ashcroft looks so solid in central defence, and McBeth just looks like he means business; tough and skillful.

This will give you an idea of what is covered on Sporting Directorship courses.
They would be dealing with thing like budgets, strategies, tactical analysis, scouting network, performance goals etc. Unless we are looking for something else. If so, I don't really see the point.
Just went on to website there. The job profile is attached.
Hmm, universities (no doubt advised by their own business managers) offering school-leavers academic degrees in all of those things. Not important if the student hasn't ever played sport at any level. Of course other transferrable skills from the degree course work include Excel and Powerpoint, not to mention how to get AI to write all of your assignments and correspondence.
Sounds great, then the newly graduated MSc in sports directorship ends up working at reception or in the shop in the local sports centre, because they know SFA.
Cynical? Moi?

Why Does a Club the Size of Thistle need a "Sporting Director" ?
Dunno. Because it gives us a plan B?

QP's highlights now up on Youtube:
Nobody seems to have mentioned the absolute defensive catastrophe by QP that led directly to our first goal. Ferrie is an excellent keeper, but that disaster illustrates perfectly why defenders and their keeper should not dick around with useless backwards and sideways passes in or around their penalty box when there are opponents close by.

Jakubiak
Back in attack
Will get the Jags
Right back on track

The colours look good in those photos.

Well done, Thistle! That win was much needed not just to consolidate our 4th place, but also psychologically, as we try to recover from the tail-end of Doolan as manager.
As always too, well done to all the R&Y army who made it to Hampden tonight.

I've gone for a draw, as although there have been some signs of improvement, this squad has depleted my ability to feel (rather than just hope) that we'll win.
I hope that starts to change after tomorrow's game.

I was hoping for ET today but it wasn't to be. QP looked fine until 2 quick goals went in. Then they didn't.
Sadly, too often of late we looked fine and even got a quick goal. Then we didn't.

It they have one, they'll be hoping he can direct them to avoiding relegation.

What I'd like to know is if a team goes on a poor run is it the coach or the director who gets sacked?
That's kind of my worry. The manager/coach has the results and performance on the field as measures of his or her performance. What criteria are used to evaluate a sporting director's performance, and how long would he or she be allowed to keep their position if there is no improvement, or worse, a serious slump?

Another great player - 20 caps. He'd have over 100 in the present era
I always loved this goal (it's shown at the end of the clip):

First bit very true. 2nd bit - 2 mistakes, very costly, a bit unlucky.
Quite a few of our lost points under Doolan were due to mistakes by individual players: defenders, midfielders, and forwards.
-
Good debate.
The bottom line is that clubs don't care about what fans want, most of them don't even believe that they'll win a trophy, but they just want to keep playing and getting as much money from being perennial also-rans as possible.

I think the answer was in the article. L to R, Burns, Hamilton, Charnley, Irons, Clark & Murdoch. I assume Clark is correct as I don’t recognise his face but I’m sure about the others
Toastie! Would never have guessed that. Same for Hamilton and Murdoch.
Clark: is that Nobby Clark?
ETA: Guess it can't be Nobby if it's George!
