Nobody seems to have commented on the attendance on Tuesday night. Just over 1,900, which is of course smaller than we'd like. However, I've no doubt that the horrendous rain in Glasgow all day dissuaded hundreds of people from going to the match, many even believing that the game would be called off. (I have relatives who did exactly that.)
Having said that, the pitch looked brilliant, almost unbelievable, given that we've gotten used to puddles in several parts of the Firhill pitch, and huge soaking clods of turf needing to be forked back into place even after a couple of light showers.

MacKay out for around 2 weeks with a strain. Suppose it doesn't make sense to risk him in the League Cup games. Will hopefully be ready for league action.
I predict he'll get injured in his first game.

Hope he joins our club.
Could have a domino effect.

A couple of his actions last night also had me thinking "This guy looks good."
I also thought McKenzie was able to show a bit more of what he's capable of than in his usual short run-outs.
The one player that I thought.... nah, ain't going to criticize after 6 points out of 6 !

Very impressed again by Thomas Horn, and hope that he continues to be given game time. He really gets himself involved, and if not scoring or assisting himself, he is occupying the defence and creating space for others.

Cracker! You could see from his grin that he was happy with that, as were we!

From that position and the flight of the ball, he really did the right thing... went for no power at all (that would probably have sent it over the bar), but just a wee downwards dink... enough to beat the keeper.
Nicely done!

Beats me why the club haven't kept fans informed.
Isn't it (supposed to be) a club owned by the fans for the fans.....?

Yep, I'd also be happy to see either of them back, especially Holt.

There were a few surprising results (i.e., wins for the underdogs/lower division teams) in yesterdays matches.

It's unbelievable what TTA guys give us.
Really too much for any one person to take in,
But a truly incredible database of facts, lists, and descriptions.
More power to your elbows (or fingertips), guys. All heroes!

I'm not sure if it's because we were "poorish" as such, but rather because we have been so consistent in always finishing 3rd/4th that a general malaise sets in. I think that had we done much worse (only just avoided relegation or even been relegated) there might have been more of a rallying effect. Had we gone down and come straight back up again, there would be more of a feel good factor, even if this obviously represents a worse couple of seasons in real terms than making and failing in the promotion play-offs a couple of times.
There are obviously other issues, also. The standard of football last year in terms of entertainment was particularly dire. And there is a weird failure to communicate properly at the moment, in particular in term of budget. My understanding is that budget will be less than last year but still perfectly competitive and in line with that of about 2 or 3 seasons ago. However, it does seem that there is a strong narrative on the forums and amongst the fans that we are broke, the budget has been slashed and we'll really struggle as a consequence. I don't believe this is the case (I mean, we may really struggle-new inexperienced manager etc..- but if we do, I don't think the set budget will be the main factor). However, the club has done very little to address this narrative and reassure the fans.
Little to disagree with in that.

Nice to see the squad making a contribution to the Jags For Good campaign:

Must confess that I thought we would be sitting at more than 1532 season tickets sold at this point but the club are not exactly bombarding us with their sales pitch - hopefully that will be getting ramped up and people are also holding off until nearer the end of the month to get theirs.
Am I right in thinking we're around 25% short of the number sold at this time last season?
If so, could it be because since then we've lost three legends (KD, BG,SB; four if you include Robert Reid!)?
And the repeat of a disappointing end to the play-offs, and a generally poorish season overall?
Actually, it seems pretty obvious.

Maybe the idea behind this is to have anybody drinking in the stadium before the game to find it such a dismal and humiliating experience that the authorities will be able to say the scheme was piloted but it proved to be clearly unpopular, hence no demand for it.

Just for comparison Watt's recent goals/assists stats are roughly 60/40%. Graham's with us were 80/20%. Significantly different, tho' I don't myself know if that is in fact significant🙂.
M'Lady might be interested to learn that when entered into a Fisher's Exact Test contingency table and the test applied, the difference is indeed statistically significant at p = 0.0032.
But whether that fact will prove significant in real life is indeed anybody's [add your own adjective] guess.

Tony Watt signed
Definitely an "exciting" signing. Has a decent pedigree, knows the Championship, which is of course an exciting competition.
He's clearly excited to be here.
Exciting times ahead!

Excellent!!
I generally no longer buy modern strips because of the crappy synthetic materials they're made from (and the nightmarish designs).
But this one really might tempt me....

Does anyone know if Thistle are doing a PPV live stream of the game as it’s not on Prem Sports?
Cheers.
I guess you mean the Friday evening game in Auld Reekie.
It would be nice if the PTTV team did a live stream, but they usually don't do it for away matches, especially if the host club has its own pay-to-watch stream. There is ECTV, but I can't find any info about Friday's match.

Can't escape the evidence that there seems to be a large-scale desertion of the women's team. Actually understandable, as it's clear that the previous manager was much appreciated by the players, they had done extremely well in the past few seasons, and that now things are going to look much more difficult, with part-time teams such as PTFCW looking increasingly likely to be the whipping girls this season. There appear to be more clear-cut opportunities for players to realise their footballing ambitions elsewhere.
Oops, can I get away with that?
