They're doing really well, long may it continue!

Thought this might be of interest: Ayr United have got some major work going on at the open terracing across from their stand. Already got the frame of a roof on.

We don't see it here, but the ball from Lawless to McInroy was class.

Wonder what was the thinking behind puting the Morton fans at the tunnel end of The Colin Weir stand , I cant remember this happening before ...................
Yes, that was unusual. Maybe a "PC" decision ("sometimes left, sometimes right....")

Hard-fought indeed. Montrose were much tougher than I'd expected. But two good goals, and a couple of near things.... We deserved the victory.

Thankfully the idiot ref chose to ignore the clear foul on Adeloye in the build up
That ref had a real howler.

I didn't think that Morton were as bad as some folk are saying. They certainly lacked width, but they got control of most of the loose balls and knocked it around to each other with accuracy and pace (compared to our failed 2-yard flicks and slow, generally useless sideways and backward passes). But our defence was able to cope. Fitpatrick is on great form. No failures in the team, even though the overall performance was well below excellent. Two beezer goals (Alston's reminded me of a scoring back-heeler by Trigger at Brockville).
As for Graham, he's like a big, mouthy child. With a history of mouthing off until he gets sent off. Deserves whatever punishment he's due. Not fit to be captain.

What worries me most about tomorrow's match is whether pttv will give access to the video (already paid for) before half time, whether we'll get to see any goals or will the video be refreshing when they happen (like last time), and how many random clips of old matches will be on the screen because the live action has cut out (yet again).

See Woodstock Jag's response earlier in the thread.
WJ referred to the pitch being used extensively, daily. My point was about having the women's team play their home matches at Firhill, nothing more than that.

"Still not following. Should the academy teams play at Firhill too ?"
Nope. I don't think I've seen anybody suggesting that (But why not, if feasible?) Given the general move towards promoting the women's game in particular, what's the problem with having them play their matches at Firhill?

To be fair to the excellent Archive, having hijacked their thread, here is a link to their report on the game on 4th September 1999 with Quinton's debut getting a mention. http://www.thethistlearchive.net/match-1999-09-04. Always enjoyed going to Stair Park when kids were young, as they could enjoy the play park until 5 minutes before kick off!
My abiding memory of Stair Park is a game in our 1970-71 season in the 1st Division. Midweek (Wed.), and I'd dogged school to get there on the NorthWest supporters' bus. I was a bit worried about missing school, but who should I see outside the ground but Mr. Robert Reid, my Languages teacher. A mutual smile and nod.... "We'll say nothing more about this," was the mutually understood message,... as he was also doggin' work!

I am not following this. Do they not do their best when they play at Petershill ? Is it not £5 usually ? I think the previous best this season was 300 odd - probably against Celtic or Rangers. I am sure some of those extra that turned up at Firhill will go along to Peterhill more regularly.
If more people go to see the women playing at Petershill then that's good. But it's not a real stadium, is it? Firhill is at least three-quarters of a real stadium.
-
So, it was free. Who knows what the difference would be if it became 2 or 3 quid to see the women doing their best every time? And if children were free, I think it could only only be good.

My suggestion didn't imply that the Firhill pitch would get used extensively almost every day. More like once a week, or at most twice, on matchdays.
-
Almost 900 at the match! That's tremendous; considerably above three of the attendances in League One. And the team is doing well too. Long may it continue.
Is there no way Firhill could become the women's permanent home fixtures venue?
-
I think McInroy is key to our attacking play. He's fast, buzzes around, tackles, passes nicely, and will probably score a few goals as well. Glad we've got him for however long it is. Would try to get him on a longer deal if possible.
But I'm anxious about how long we can hold on to Fitzpatrick. He's now more clearly showing the ability and types of performance that got him a deal in England, which was too soon when it happened. Long may he continue to outpace and carve through defences, and score for us. Enjoy him while we can!
-
Let's hope that as the (s)kipper BG can get them finding the net enough times.

Another shite result.
Another shite "live stream" product.

Unbelievable: the "live stream" has switched to showing old matches!

Don't forget, if we win, either the arabs or the tarts will knock us out in the next round. Home or away, it's inevitable, so let's at least get a win today.
