This photo, and his identity, comes up quite regularly on social media. I don’t remember him when he played in Scotland (too young) but I didn’t think he looked like a youngster in this photo. Nice to see him using his feet instead of his hands though.

But he is using his hand.....his right hand is wrapped round Charlie's neck!!

I think given that Hamilton have found a bit confidence and form and will be mindful  of the hammering we gave them on our last visit I would be happy with a draw.

With all our recent troubles, covid etc I imagine Accies will start favourites however our strikers have been misfiring in recent games so perhaps this is the game where they come good again. I expect a tight game and if we can  dominate their big striker, the guy who scored their goal in the 6-1 game, then I think we can win.

I hope we have a strong referee as Tiffoney, going by comments from the Hamilton manager, will be given special attention!

    C'mon the Jags

Striker David Moyo isn't playing today.  He was called up by Zimbabwe for the African Nations tournament.

Although I think this is the best squad we have had for sometime I am struggling to think of any player, not including loanees (Mayo & Akinola), who could play in the SPL.

Bannigan, Graham, Foster and Holt have SPL experience but I doubt a current SPL club would try to sign any of them in the January window.

With the possibly exception of Tiffoney, I think the rest of our squad in work in progress.

In terms of who we might sign Connolly (QotS) and McKenna (Arbroath) look good but doubt if either will be available during the window.

Tunji isn't a loanee. He signed a one year contract earlier this year.  Ian McCall said last weekend that he hoped Tunji, Zak and Jamie Sneddon would all sign contract extensions soon.  What a Christmas present  that will be!!

Another clean sheet and breaking our own record…however, does anyone know how that stacks up in terms of Scottish or indeed World records ?

A very quick Google search brings up Edwin van der Sar with 14 consecutive clean sheets in competitive matches for the 2008/09 season.

Jamie, the record's there for the taking!!

I'll put this here as it's from another cup tie in this round.

Niang scores two very good goals against Bonnyrigg. The first shows some great improvisation from a corner, the second he starts and finishes a quick break. (About 1.30 in and right at the end of the highlights).

Where did the close ball control and confidence come from? He's come on well at Alloa.

On terms of what might have been, and steering back to Bertie, it's hard to look past Derek Johnstone as the most disastrous appointment. That's different I suppose to saying DJ was our worst ever manager but he probably deserves that accolade as well.

Help. senior moment time, but who was Gerry Collins's assistant? Can't for the life of me mind.

IIRC it was Bobby McCulley. (Eh??)

A truly great article, Thistle Archive. Immense sorrow and respect.

Not Thistle but community related https://www.firstworldwarglasgow.co.uk/index.aspx?articleid=11641

Excellent article and site.  Quite a sacrifice.  As I went to primary school in the 60s in that area, the map of the location was good to see. I recall Woodside Baths, and the steamie in the lane round the corner.  Many thanks.

I’ve got happy memories of Rugby Park. It’s one of three grounds I’ve seen Thistle in the flesh at as my family were over in the UK and I convinced my wife to let me take my son on a ‘day trip to Kilmarnock.’ Liam Lindsay scored a last minute equaliser and I heard some truly entertaining patter from the angry wee bald man next to me

That’s a great result, and hopefully shows we’ll be around the mark come seasons end.

In forty plus years of watching football, not sure I’ve ever seen such a stonewall red card not given.

Was that no oor Bobby without his cargo?  :drink2:

I assume that Holt is out  for this. So the only change would be Mckenna at right back and Foster to left back. With two huge victories in the last games it is sensible to go with same team.

Listening to the interview with Alan Archibald on Jagzone, Holt had  stitches inserted, but doesn't have concussion. Archie said he will be in the squad for the game.

Personally speaking, after eight or so stitches in a gash, I'd be surprised if he did play at all. Eight days is not long enough for a wound like that to heal.

  10. In the report of the directors,  the following is of interest.

"At the time of this report 55% of the shares in PTFC and title to the land is held by Three Black Cats Ltd  (3BC) although the Club has a legally granted Licence to Occupy. It is planned that by the time of the Club's AGM, a timetable will have been made public for the majority shareholding to transferred to the new fan entity, The Jags Foundation immediately followed by the land being transferred to the club as per the late Colin Weir's  wishes and that of the publicly stated intentions of the directors of 3BC."

It would appear to me that the Estate of Colin Weir has been finalised, although looking at the progress of the Foundation of Hearts, the road to final fan ownership may still be a rather long and rocky path.
