Tam
My 15 year old wants to take up photography. What DSLR cameras can you recommend for a novice up to £200 approx ? Appreciated
thomas
If you can get one second hand for that price id say a canon eos 400d, usually youll get an 18-55mm lens with it, unless it states body only. Only know that as i have one. Maybe a nikon (booooooooooooo) owner may know what one of theirs is good to buy. Check out my flickr site for quality etc on a 400d ▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼▼ Edited July 8, 2010 by thomas
McKennan
Tam, maybe if your child is a wee bit patient and gets to around 350/375 quid (sorry, no pound sign on this keyboard) you get a nice starter kit from either Nikon or Canon. There are other brands, of course!

jags365
My mate is starting his HND in photography at the Met after the summer so I'll ask him for advice as well.

thistlelad
Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ38 Best camera you can get for about £230. Its not DSLR but its the best bridge camera out there! You won't pick up a decent DSLR for under £400 quid and the Panasonic will beat all low end DSLR's
McKennan
Just as important to get a good camera and lens combo to start off. For example. And again.

And again. defo correct there, i got the 18-55mm when i got my eos 400d in 2007, i now have 55-250mm, 75-300mm lenses and a wide angle lens attachment for the 18-55mm, also have a few different filters
