  1. likewise if you think i'm hand-wringing you're further removed from reality than i originally thought. read my posts and others too. if thistle fans think the family club thing is pish (oops!) then the club seems far removed from reality too and someone needs to tell them soon. i happen to think they're right and should be commended for the hard work they've put in. if being a proper football forum is laughing at paton's pish stories then i've definitely missed the point. sad to say it but i think we should be grateful that we're still seen as enough of a diddy club for that not to have become a bigger story.
  2. it was a full page in the country's biggest selling newspaper and was trailed and promoted on the club's website. not exactly a wee corner of the cumbernauld news that someone spotted by accident.
  3. and this is exactly why we're ****** as a club. the club works hard to promote family values, free entry, out to schools, has a new sponsor that says its there because holds the same values, has kids zones and family days and wants to be seen as a good alternative to those other two. but the fans don't want that it if this thread is anything to go by. we can't have it both ways. the club's website promoting an article that goes the opposite way from everything they've been doing for the last two/three years is unbelievable. times change and that's why the lambie 90s and wimbledon comparisons are irrelevant. i've lived through and enjoyed those times and many before them so i've seen how it used to be but it aint that anymore.
  4. agree with you. does no-one at the club get involved with these things and vet the answers? anyone else find the story about all the players pishing in a pint glass and giving it to paul cairney hilarious? naw, me neither. family club my arse.
  5. 100% agree. amazed how many people cant see this and how important a good start is for a club like ours.
  6. the same diddy cup that we constantly bang on about winning 40 years ago. something that no-one's mentioned about yesterday's result is the impact its going to have on crowds. no matter what anyone says, positive early results are crucial for a club like us who are desperately in need of getting people through the door. i know a few people who were there yesterday on an air of optimism and who've slipped away over the last couple of seasons. they won't be back after that guff. others who were planning to make more trips back have been turned away again after that guff. i know lots of others who are failing to see the draw of shelling out money to watch guff. all this bollocks about letting us concentrate on the league is a joke. we'll be lucky if we avoid a play-off after that performance so we needed a cup run, even if it was just one more round. we need money. agree too with lady isobel's last post.
  7. eh? it was a cup game. if you don't score more than them then you go out. i rather have had a crack at scoring more goals than keeping it at 3. grehan must be looking into his cocktail tonight and realising that kinniburgh was seen as the better option than him. pity we decided to play all the tippytappy stuff after shoving kinniburgh up front. it was an embarrassment for everyone today.
  8. delighted at the turn out and delighted to be wrong. also don't think too much blame can be aimed at the club for not being ready for such numbers turning up. what could they do? sales of tickets sounded sparse so could conclude that interest was low. more help from celtic to have explained the all-ticket bit to their mob might have helped them. lets hope now that the extra £30k (?) goes into jackie's player budget.
  9. i'd rather we tried to sign a decent striker as a priority and ahead of safety signings. football is shite at the best of times these days so if we're putting the main benefit of signing a decent striker as a challenge for a top 3 finish we might as well chuck it. more goals scored than goals lost means we win games. where are we expecting to finish if we don't sign a decent striker? 8th? 7th? maybe 6th? whoopdidoo.
  10. did it really say 'mcbee' or is that your typo?
  11. you think there's tactics at work? huvnae sold enough tickets more like and realised it was a daft idea. thought the masses from seville would have been pouring through the gates whereas they're not arsed. if we get 3000 i'll be amazed (and pleased)
  12. always wondered why ami doesnt have her pic on the profile page
  13. don't think they fill staduims when its their u19s playing
  14. thats got to be about as close to it as anyone has said yet
  15. david beattie will look daft when mccall becomes falkirk manager
