  1. A couple of weeks ago on Tam and Stu, an East fife player, Denholm I think, was asked any player in the lower divisions to look for in the coming season. His answer was the boy Lyons at Montrose who is going to Thistle, is a fast tricky winger who scores goals for fun.
  2. Are we relegated? Looks like an excuse to move him on. Looks like Doohan of Celtic could take his place.
  3. Cerny was injured at the time and he was risked instead of playing Scully. It did not pay off.
  4. We approached and offered terms to many players, as did all clubs in Great Britain. Some players accepted and some players did not.
  5. It was rumoured that some clubs in the league [including championship] would rather go into hibernation, which would probably have saved Hearts from relegation. Then AB introduces James Anderson, to help clubs start playing again which would reduce Hearts chances of staying in the premiership. Also if this money is available, why are the lower leagues starting in October? And the premiership in August Could this cost lower league clubs including ourselves, some fans. I.E Fans going to watch some premier games and just get the habit of premiership football. Slightly off topic, if you fancy buying a few shares, go to Baillie Gifford and follow Mr Andersons advice! He's brilliant. .
  6. Doncaster has always been in favour of putting the premier clubs first. His idea is to put money at the top of a hill and the first one up gets it. Once asked him about distribution of funds and in so many words, that was his answer.
  7. Lawless said after he left that he had not been offered a new deal at Firhill.
  8. I think we will get a solution, there is too much money involved. The Sky money which I think is about 9 million a year, some of which will be distributed at the start of the season. also Hearts would be due 300 grand parachute mone,y which would go back into the coffers, if they stay in the Premier .Also clubs that are saying they will not be able to take up the fixtures are being told they could face harsh penalties.
  9. Remember compo would have to be paid by the SPFL i.e the clubs. I think Hearts thought that taking legal action, would sway the clubs to accept re construction
  10. According to what I read, at this moment in time only France and Scotland are the only football associations relegating clubs with the season not completed, In France the club that is being relegate is taking the league to court. If England follow suit and do not relegate the bottom clubs, It may put pressure on the SPFL to think again
  11. One German club offers for a fee, a cut out figure with your picture attached to it on closed door games. Idea for us on the bing!?
  12. We have 3 stands and they would be set out to make sure self distancing takes place. Also probably season ticket holders only. On another theme We are hearing that reconstruction is back on the table. With Anne Budge being asked to look at further ways it can come about. Sportsound to-day.
  13. I see the SPFL have set up a committee to look at a proposal I made a few pages ago that setting up hubs[ 15 grounds] where the Betfred cup can be played. It would be set on a regional basis i.e on our case Jags ,Clyde ,Queens and maybe Airdrie would play off in one stadium with plenty of room for fans to self distance and the ground set up to protect the players.
  14. What I would like to know is:- Is the first rule in the articles of the SPFL To promote Scottish football Is there a rule that says, If the football season cannot be concluded for any reason, then a points per game will be used to determine final placings. In the first case then it should be, and on the second case if not why not. And if not how did they come to that conclusion
  15. With the situation at this moment in time, I doubt you will see any league games going ahead. Can you see games Kilmarnock v Aberdeen etc going ahead? With fans travelling the length breadth of the country? It probably might not happen, but my view would to have small local leagues i.e in our case Jags, Rangers, Queens, Celtic and maybe Clyde and Airdrie playing home and away at Hampden, Ibrox and Parkhead, with a maximum attendance of 5000 [plenty of room for social distancing] This could take us to December and then in the New year revert to normal leagues playing each other home and away once. Whatever happens, the SPFL has to move quickly, many players will be out of contract in a months time, and clubs need to know in the very near future how we are going to move forward.
  16. The latest info I have that there is a meeting between Gov and the horse racing authority in a few days, but with the death rate rising every day, it is going to be hard to get public support. The trainers have the horses ready to race and could go with just a few days notice. When it does start, it will probably be Lingfield and then Newcastle on the ATR and behind closed doors
  17. I don't know Hartley, but I know many Falkirk fans who do and they all were glad to see the back of him. He cost a fortune to get him, it cost a fortune to get rid of him and it cost a fortune to pay off all the players he signed. I know a few people who know Ian McColl and you should be glad you have got him. Before he came to us, he knew our weaknesses and started the program to get rid of the 'weaknesses' He needs time either as manager or 'upstairs' to get this team back on the right road.
  18. According to 'sportsound' on Saturday, there are 2 voting system,s 11-1 is if clubs promoted wish to share in end of season Premier pay outs or 75% vote they accept Championship payments. How they would sort that out I don't know.. It also needs 75% of all other clubs. I think if reconstruction is to be achieved, I think we would have to have a 16 or 18 teams in the Championship.
  19. I think we must be very careful at this moment. We will be going round these clubs asking them to vote for re-construction of the leagues, please let us not upset the applecart.
  20. I hope our media boys make sure our letter is printed in every top paper in the land.
  21. I posted earlier on this topic, that a group of horse racing trainers were putting forward a plan to resume racing behind close doors in early May. This still the case. The intention is to start at Lingfield, with local trainers involved. Also a group of English football clubs, are working on a proposal to start the leagues again in early June. The games to be played behind closed doors
  22. The SPFL Board includes three Ladbrokes Premiership representatives, two from the Ladbrokes Championship and one covering Ladbrokes League 1 and Ladbrokes League 2. Elected to serve on the 2019/20 SPFL Board, alongside SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster, chairman Murdoch MacLennan and independent non-executive director Karyn McCluskey, were: • Ladbrokes Premiership: Alan Burrows (Motherwell), Les Gray (Hamilton Academical), Stewart Robertson (Rangers) • Ladbrokes Championship: Ross McArthur (Dunfermline Athletic), Graham Peterkin (Ayr United) • Ladbrokes League 1 and League 2: Ken Ferguson (Brechin City)
  23. It would be interesting to find how this vote came about. I read Doncaster made the proposal, but what journey does it make before it reaches him. Also who is on the committee? Looking at the Spfl website, there is no section giving the names of office bearers.
  24. Many football fans live on nostalgia. We talk always about players in the past also the great games in the past Football has changed, we do not play 2-3-5 anymore, players are not told to go out and enjoy yourselves, they are given certain roles to play and by god they better do it. Scottish football is on a downward trend and something is needed to correct it and summer football would be a start. Ireland has moved the season to summer and difference to the play and attendances has been fantastic. I believe our season been damaged partly to playing in the winter. Gary signed players who were too light and lacking in strength for the conditions. I gave up in going to football in the winter, sitting shivering even with about three layer of clothing is not for me and I am sure for many other fans
  25. He tried to cover it up by saying It would let us know what our budget would be so we would be able to make plans now
