  1. Sounds a decent prospect for us, far better than the Liverpool youngster who you now struggle to see getting any action. But is it just me that thinks its a bit of a sad state of affairs that an English League One reject is considered a good signing for the SPL? Can't see Kallum starting against County, barring injury is there any reason why Archie won't start with the same team as last week?
  2. Any specifics on why they think it's unsafe and what treatment of fans they want to complain about? They might have reasonable grounds for complaint, who knows? However, the stand might be ancient and the toilets are cramped, but there isn't really a lot that can be done about that, besides, neither of which makes it unsafe and the council wouldn't have issued a safety certificate for the stand if it didn't meet certain standards. Don't want to simply label Dundee Utd a bunch of tossers but there is a bit of a pattern emerging here.....
  3. Site is working fine for me using Chrome. Condolences to Mr Hosie. Good the the game on Friday night was a bit of release, but don't be daft worrying about going away up to Dingwall, look after yourself and your family, that's what is important.
  4. Just noticed that one of the old They Also Play In Red And Yellow teams is back in action and funnily enough, Joma is their kit supplier too! Fort Lauderdale Strikers are back in business (along with the likes of the New York Cosmos) in the new version of the NASL. Its in the news because the two teams met on Saturday and Pele was there to see it, but the strip was more interesting (from "Fort Lauderdale Strikers' Toni Stahl, left, and New York Cosmos' Ayoze fight for control of the ball during a soccer game, Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, in Hempstead, N.Y.):
  5. I think you are right about the figures in the old Main Stand and that it doesn't include the enclosure, AFAIK the enclosure hasn't been included in capacity figures for a long, long time since it's not technically usable as a standing area. It probably does include the directors box and possibly there would have been a number of seats set aside for 'other' Dundee Utd people (non-playing players and their friends/family). Along with there being maybe a couple of hundred of empty eats at most dotted around, not sure how that accounts for 2100 fans in a 2600 capacity stand though?
  6. I think after just one competitive game Erskine might be willing to wait a little bit longer before he starts having any regrets! I fear a little for him that he'll have to make do with mainly sub appearances and it'll start to affect his confidence a little, but then again, McNamara knows fine well how good a player he can be, so who knows. It might take a while but he may end up being good for them. I really do wish he'd decided to give it a go with Thistle in the SPL though, we clearly need him much more than Dundee Utd will. As for Paton, don't really wish him any ill-will, and he did play an important part in winning the league and thanks to him for that, but his problem is clearly that he talks too much. Instead of just keeping his mouth shut he went on about how great it was at Firhill while lying about not signing for another club and generally got foolishly involved in social media with it all. Posted rubbish about guys like Doolan signing for other clubs, has been quoted in the press telling Thistle fans they should thank McNamara, labels them bitter, etc He really needs to learn that sometimes its better to either say nothing at all or try to be diplomatic. He was never going to get the kind of response Erskine does, but if he wants to be treated like a diddy, then he's certainly going the right way about it.
  7. Forgot all about Mukendi Don't know enough about him to know whether he is going to tried as a wide attacker or the central role.
  8. Good stuff, just another striker needed now. Although, we're likely to only ever play with one up front so unless it's a youngster on loan who'll be expected to feature mainly as a sub, don't think we'll be getting one? In midfield does that mean we will have one of Osbourne & Murray for a purely defensive midfield role, possibly alongside Bannigan in the centre? Then you have Kerr, Forbes, Welsh, Fraser, Craigen, competing for the other spots - two wide and one advanced midfield role, not sure who is going to be suited to the wide roles. Is Bannigan really best suited? Edited to add: The young Spanish midfielder on a 2-year deal is an interesting one, give him six months in the U20 side and who knows, if he adapts well enough he might be able to compete for a first team place after Fraser's loan spell is up.
  9. Done, agree Kerr's home top is more attractive than the keeper's kit! But what will happen if not enough money is raised?
  10. I liked this bit of his quote, it makes him sound like the d*ck he clearly is: "To have clarity on the names of each division and to have a logo that demonstrates the passion, the excitement and the drama of Scottish football, I'm thrilled." So now the third tier of Scottish Football is League One, where is the clarity in that? How on earth can even such a pompous arse as Doncaster come out with this crap and say "I'm thrilled"?
  11. He's an Academy player, and hasn't even been a regular at that level. He did do enough to earn a deal with Liverpool and progress to their U21 Academy team, but has since then had a spell on loan at League Two team in England where he started one competitive game and had 7 sub appearances in his six months. He then returned to Liverpool and featured once for their U21 team. I don't think people should be expecting an awful lot from him. He's hardly kicked a ball at a competitive level, seems an awful big jump to go from U18/U21 football to playing first team football in the SPL (so whatever it is that it's called?).
  12. Thanks. Be more helpful if no one replied to any posts about The Rangers though..... seriously, no offence intended to you billko but this forum is my little oasis of oblivion regarding the two ugly sisters of Scottish football. The one place where I don't need to hear anything about them.
  13. No offence intended to the lad above, but why is there not an ignore option on the forum? Or can I just not find it, if so can someone point me in the right direction... many thanks.
  14. Agree with Shuggie, got to be the club captain who lifts the trophy. Craig, Erskine etc are only wearing the armband because Paton hasn't been fit, no? Sorry to see Paton and Erskine go, but it's no surprise. Lets face it, just about any SPL club could offer any of our out of contract players more money than we can. It would've been great to see them play in the SPL with Thistle, but who in their right mind would turn down the chance to earn a minimum of an extra few hundred quid every week, and possibly on a longer contract too? I just hope one of the things Archie has learned from McNamara is to try and build his squad as early as possible.
  15. Yes, there will definitely be more tickets available for Jags fans, the only question is how many. QOS were given 3,292 tickets plus an additional allocation if needed. They last posted an update on Friday 1st March to say they still had just over 100 tickets left of their original allocation, and they would be on sale up until Sunday 3rd March. So they haven't needed the extra tickets, and if their sale is now over, expect news from Firhill very soon on some more tickets for us.
  16. Sorry to hear this news, always remember seeing his smile around Firhill on Saturdays. Thanks for your post Tob Jag letting us know of his fitting farewell. Hope he's smiling down on you and the rest of the family.
