  1. Relax and don't be alarmed. It may well have been the biggest discussion on the forum this summer but that's only because of the very controversial North Stand issue.
  2. I would take winning the League Cup or Scottish Cup over staying up in Premier League, would love to see us win a major trophy. Having said that, if we managed to stay in Premier and build the club through a long term top flight presence that may help towards us eventually winning a cup.
  3. Last season my season ticket was in section 1 JHS, but I only sat there once and for rest of season I went to NS. When I renewed my season ticket over the phone I got the impression I couldn't have season ticket in NS (I must have misunderstood that I just couldn't reserve a specific seat in NS) so I renewed my ticket for JHS expecting to be able to get into North again. Reading about seating arrangements for next season on Thistle website I am now a wee bit concerned that with the new system I will only be able to sit in JHS. Clearly this would not be a disaster but I would prefer North Stand. I will phone the club about this over next few days but in the meantime any of you fellow Jaggo's in the same boat as me?
  4. Remember there will no doubt be different shades of opinion. There is no way a majority of Jags fans would want the Celtic fans to be banned from Firhill. But it is possible that a majority of Jags fans don't want to give up North Stand to Celtic fans, although of course that can't be certain.
  5. I think what the club might be planning now is Celtic get North Stand and away end of JHS and Thistle have our usual home 5 or 6 sections of JHS and main stand. But as überteeb indicated the issue isn't about money.
  6. I don't think there would be many fans willing to buy into the premise of the poll. But there might be a few more who fancy being the home team in a home match against one of the old firm for a change, or for a first.
  7. Nothing prejudiced and small minded about trying to make the most of being at home.
  8. No ban necessary. Just give them the away end of JHS. They may have dominated Scottish football for over a hundred years but that doesn't mean they have to dominate me, Firhill or Partick Thistle.
  9. It's very simple really. I strongly believe this is what Thistle should do.
  10. Yep, I'm a North Stander but there is no way we should be moving the JHS Jags fans either. Ideal solution IMO would have been to give the Celtic fans the 2 away sections of JHS stand (like for most teams we played last season), keep Main Stand closed if necessary and Jackie Husband Jags And North Stand Jags dominate the away support with our noise, singing and general bedlam, like what a real home game should be like. home advantage and all that. But aye, no way any Jags fans anywhere should have to move for a home match! Having said that, the man Beattie seems to be doing a good job but this whole North Stand controversy is a let down really.
  11. No wonder we were relegated. What a terrible side. Bad times.
  12. It's funny whenever people talk about what happened to Rangers I have no idea what anyone is talking about because I found the story so boring that I stopped paying attention a few days after they went into administration. The one thing I am fairly confident about is that Rangers fans may well be amongst the few groups of football fans in the world who can see their club go bust and then be even more arrogant than they were before! The mind boggles.
  13. F*** sake!!! I didn't know about that, that's terrible. My first time seeing Thistle at Firhill against Rangers was pretty dire. Was in 95-96 season, Rangers had usual 3 quarters of ground, they had a couple of teddy bear mascots on the pitch and I remember teddy bears picnic song was played over the tannoy during warm up. didn't feel like a home match in the slightest. And we got scudded 4-0. bad times
  14. That's an excellent point. I was mainly thinking about this in terms of why should we move just because Celtic fans can't be trusted in the main stand and also because I am convinced that the raucous North Stand belting out Thistle songs and awash with red and yellow is now a crucial part of our home advantage. I hadn't even factored in how useful it might be in terms of pr when people see and hear the spectacle of the north stand on tv. It doesn't even seem like there is an economic case for giving up the north stand either, from what I can tell.
  15. Stuff looks ok to me. Will be buying the red tracky top for definite. Really like it. Fingers crossed the new home top is nice, because if its nice I will buy it, and if its terrible I will still be buying it.
  16. Paul Paton was a very committed and passionate player for us, so good luck to him, except when he is playing against us. Btw, that new united top is honking. It really is.
  17. My first Thistle game was a League Cup game at Kilbowie that Dundee United won 3-1, but I was a Dundee United fan at the time!!!! The game where I saw the light and found my true calling was a 1-1 draw v Killie at Firhill in October 1995, Albert Craig scored a penalty. First away game was 3 days later at Celtic, got beat 2-1, Tam Smith scored a consolation near the end with a wonderfully deflected free kick.
