  1. I completely agree that the club needs to within reason try and safe guard their customers. It doesn't seem that they have done as much as they could in this respect. The reality is though that every OF game we have played as long as I have followed the Jags has had visiting fans amongst the home support. Do I like it no, but it has never affected my enjoyment of the game, if we play well I am happy if not I am dissappointed. Does the filth among us affect that? No. The club either through their own fault or legitimate safety certification means find themselves in a real situation as they can't segregate the support appropriately. The away fans in the North Stand and home fans in the Main Stand doesn't provide enough tickets for the away fans and therefor they need to use the JH stand. This provides a very difficult logistical problem before and after the game as they have the away support sandwiched between the home fans. For those advocating that the North Stand remain for Jags fans only I would encourage you to take this point on board as to my mind the natural solution to maximise income and maintain utmost segregation is to give the away support the Main Stand and North Stand and the home support the JH stand. Not an ideal situation but I would encourage my jags supporting mates to do the team and the club proud by maintaining our excellent reputation and not to get involved in anyway with the scum among us.
  2. Get a grip of yourself, it's frustrating to dominate and come away with nothing but if you think the quality is poor your in for a very difficult time as a Jags fan as it will almost certainly go south from here at some point. Do you think honest Hibs fans enjoyed that??We need to take some of the chances for sure but where is the money coming from to attract quality up top? The best we can hope for is goals throughout the team but we don't even look like scoring at corners as the quality in is poor unless Forbes is on. On top of this even when we do dominate we can't keep a clean sheet and as a result poor Hibs, Hearts and Killie teams go home with more than they deserve. Who's to blame for all of this? No one it's where we are and as much as it hurts we need to get used to it.
  3. What are you looking for from our full backs? For most other weeks SOD has been criticised for his end product and today was no different however he defended very well particularly in the second half when he was targeted and coped very well.
  4. There was certainly points in the game were our lack of individual quality frustrated me but to say we could easily have lost it is just negative, we could also easily have won it so do St Johnstone also need to improve?Too many folk seem to have quickly forgotten the s**t we have endured for years, this young team entertain in abundance, sure they could be better and I am certain many of them will get better and I am looking forward to see them develop because it will guarantee further entertainment. If all you want is instant success take your custom elsewhere as you are ready made to follow the auld filth they have a few seats available each Saturday these days!!
  5. I have no doubt whatsoever that we will avoid the play offs. My concern is that this crop of players is too good to just be thinking of avoiding them, if they believe in themselves and continue to strive to improve they can do what other Jags teams have failed to do and go and outplay teams like the Arabs in there own backyard and win. This will take Archie & co working out a system that keeps us tight and still gets us goals but he needs to realise attractive play is not good enough, Wenger he isn't. If they can work this out they could do more than most Jags teams and stay up and build a strong platform for the usually difficult second season.
  6. A lucky break as far as I am concerned. If this is the "best" we could hope for it doesn't say much for our budget or Archies eye for a striker. Either way I'd rather we took a chance on one less pool player and pushed the wage for better quality. Other than getting injured Doolan offers more than Gow and warrants a decent chance compared to providing a wage to this journeyman waster.
  7. Nonsense defending poperly and scoring one more than the other team wins games. We drew with Killie and have amassed more points than them so far if they improve then good luck to them but for s team that's been in the top flight for many years we looked and played better than them. Are they good enough to improve their results I doubt it. Are we good enough to continue to outplay these poorer teams yes if we stay clear of injury and remain confident.
  8. Can't agree with this we have shown to date we are more than capable of coping/beating the teams in the bottom of the league. We struggle against the better teams, anyone that expected better than that isn't being realistic. Is this luck not in my opinion just better players.
  9. It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that for individual games and a run of games we will struggle. We have a young inexperienced team and management and at times neither will know what to do. Make know mistake the next few months will be pivotal in the history of the jags if we have enough outright quality in he management and playing staff we will come through a stronger team capable of a run in the top flight. If we don't we'll survive this year and get relegated next year as the lack of quality and our better players desert us. Not a betting man but I see character in enough of this squad to feel optimistic despite a poor result tonight.
  10. I agree he has certainly looked better coming of the bench. He seems more in tune with the game and more likely to contribute, there will also be less expectancy on him which might help him in the long term.
  11. He did win the penalty and for that we are grateful. As I said when I entered this thread I don't think the majority of Thistle fans are narrow minded enough to write off a Thistle player after a few games just because he hasnt scored particularily if they are contributing to the team in other ways. It's the overall absence of a regular contribution that most will find hard to take. We are all free to judge what that should be.
  12. Not all facts, the stats such as goals and assists are the rest is opinion open to debate. I have been fortunate enough to see all his games for Thistle and from my take on the games this is a general assessment of his performances. Others are free to disagree with me, however at the end of the day the only opinion that really counts is Archies as it's his job that is on the line.
  13. I think it is doing the fair minded Jags fan a real dis-service to suggest that they can only value the worth of a forward by the number of goals they have scored. When you look at Bairds performances to date not only has he not scored, he hasn't assisted any, he hasn't held the ball up, he doesn't occupy the centre halves to create space for others, he doesn't provide any set piece threat, he doesn't have pace to get in behind the back four. He does fall over a lot, moan a lot, get caught offside a lot and in general to date not contribute to the overall team. If this is being premature then I for one am more than happy to be proven wrong.
  14. Agree it's harsh to write him off at this stage, however anyone watching him in the two cup games could tell he had more than the odd accident in him unless he altered his style of play. Given the choice I'm sure Archie wouldn't have wanted to play him this soon but it just highlights how thin the squad really is.
  15. Do you not think that Forbes deserves his chance ahead of Elliot? Ross has quality with set pieces and if Archie relaxes his defensive duties by playing him just off Doolan then he could add another dimension to our often toothless attack.
  16. The reality is that there will be guys in this team that won't be able to make the step up and will be found wanting. That's just a hard fact of life they are young and some will learn and the rest won't. The hope is that we will avoid the play offs and be able to retain the ones that blossom and add quality as replacements for those that fail to adapt. If we can do that we have a chance to try and establish ourselves in the top flight in the way that Killie, ICT and St Johnstone have been able to, in particular as Sevco will be back in taking a place in a few years.
  17. I agree fans have the right to express their views however they also have a responsibility to support the team including players that are struggling. It's Archies job to pick the team and if there is guys not performing he should recognise it and change it. Baird is fast becoming the whipping boy and his performances won't alter this therefor Archie needs to set up the team differently if he wants to get more from him. Having said this I felt the fans today where generally forgiving and supportive of a really poor performance, long may that continue as I for one think this team has merited that and will do ok as long as we don't get on their backs and ruin their confidence.
  18. I can understand why people might think we where outmuscled but I am not convinced this was the case. I felt Aberdeen started faster and got in our faces quickly and our usual passing game never got started and any time we did get on the ball we were limited for options and often resorted to either diagonals that weren't on or long straight balls that Baird simply isn't going to hold onto if they did reach him. 20 mins in and the games over. Our fate won't be decided by these games Aberdeen look like a top six team we have played two of them so far and lost both without even troubling them, thankfully though the bottom six teams we have played so far have found it difficult to cope with us and long may that continue we'll have another chance to test this point next week against the Killie. Don't like to have a go at Jags players but to date Piccollo and Baird have done nothing to convince me they are good enough. Gabriel is a complete liability and has reckless tendencies that where exposed in the cup games and similarly Baird looked far from a lone striker capable of bringing in team mates. The lack of central defensive cover is more of a worry than our striking options because let's face it not many teams in the league will recover from 2 down. Let's hope Conrad and Aaron can stay fit.
  19. Dont agree that we are on a path of youth development as the current 1st team are recruits from discarded programmes not products of our own system. Do have hope that this encourages the U20's etc to try and break into the team however time will tell if our youth programme can develop talent in the same way as Hamilton and Livingstone have done in recent years. Regardless of where they came from we are enjoying the journey and long may it continue as I for one am sick of the humiliating poor performances at Airdrie or Firhill against Albion Rovers et al.
  20. Agree with most of this we have had a significant amount of possession in most games and didn't really look like scoring. We have played 5 games and failed to score in 2 and scored from the spot in another indicating with ghat amount of possession something is wrong be it the strikers or the quality of play in the last third. For me it is both however I trust Archie and this team to win enough points to keep us in this division however this is a golden team that will be broken up as the sharks circle to pick off our talent for bigger salaries and we may regret them not achieving a top 6 finish or cup run if we can't find a solution to this problem.
  21. Not only have you missed the point of this thread as most would have had high expectations of Scott McLean to suggest he was poor is at least disingenuous or at best a personnel dislike blind to any logic. He didn't start his Thistle career quickly but his record overall compares more favourably than most in his position.
  22. I don't think Archie made a mistake letting Stevie go but he may have made a mistake in not finding an adequate replacement. Baird is not showing anything yet and will have to improve considerably to prove his worth in the team. On today's showing it was the wrong call to start him before Doolan.
