  1. It's a matter of time and temperature. When Hell freezes over! His mysterious departure from St J suggests far more than his media pleadings have revealed. This was not a major cull of their playing staff, this was specific and involved a player who was not only a regular pick in their first team, but also in the Northern Ireland international squad. We are in enough trouble without adding this odious character to the squad.
  2. Ross County Saturday 03 March Pick ups: Milngavie Station – 9:00 Esquire House – 9:20 Maryhill Community Halls – 9:30 Prices: £25 for adults £15 for concessions(School aged children, unwaged adults, senior citizens & matriculated students). 3. Apologies if posted elsewhere, but - following our farcical fixture list in December, an opportunity exists for that rarest of commodities in Scottish Football – common sense – to be given an airing. We are out of the Cup, as are Ross County, so why not shift the Wednesday 28/02 nightmare trip to Saturday 03 March when neither team has a fixture? The advantages: · A bigger crowd for the home side · A bigger travelling support for The Jags at this vital fixture · No need for people to take time off work the day before, nor to struggle in the following day after a return to Glasgow in the early hours · An opportunity to put the customer first The disadvantages: · The SPFL fear of setting a precedent by putting fans first? Hard to think of a reason why this can't/shouldn't be done, but I'm sure someone in officialdom will come up with a reason/excuse!

  5. The Late, Great Arthur Montford commenting on THE League Cup Final noted that "With Jimmy Johnstone leaving the field, Celtic are down to twelve men! This was in the immediate aftermath of Johnstone savagely raking his shin down Ronnie Glavin's studs......well that's how I saw it then and I stand by the interpretation.

  12. Subject to the usual caveats (e.g. accuracy, sources etc etc), the Annual Global Sports Salaries Survey makes interesting reading. Proof, if it was ever needed, that: 1. The whinging of the East End mob about “level playing fields” shows that, amongst their many deficiencies, a lack of awareness of irony is one of the most prominent; 2. That Sevco continue to display that fiscal reality is a stranger to Ayebrokes!
  13. Appreciate the time involved, but it either met acceptable/required standards last night or it didn’t. If the former, why was another inspection required at 0800? If the latter, why was – as claimed – any certification granted? The answer, I think, lies in the careful wording of last night’s statement. NB: “we have our temporary occupation certificate for the new stand” If you look at the photos from yesterday, while there was obviously work to be done on the new structure, a major issue appeared to be access/egress to/from our section of the Roseburn Stand. With confirmation finally given, it will be “interesting” to see what we encounter since the pics didn’t even show any turnstiles apart from the isolated old ones which are clearly inoperable.
  14. ..so why is it now 0945 without any information on hearts official web and twitter sites????
  15. Nothing on Hearts official site and I'd have expected them to be the first to reveal the decision!
  16. Tynecastle has failed a safety inspection for the new stand. No certificate issued by the council. Hearts are going to continue working through the night and into tomorrow with a further inspection due around lunchtime tomorrow (Saturday).
  17. Noted that official site says only 680 tickets for us on 19/11 - probably due to allocation to players/sponsors etc.
  18. North-West Branch: Pick ups: Milngavie Station – 12:30 Esquire House – 12:50 Maryhill Community Halls – 13:00 Prices: £14 for adults £8.50 for concessions. For seats non-members should e-mail [email protected] Please note this match, if it actually goes ahead, will be all ticket with only 768 tickets available to Jags fans. No tickets will be on sale to Jags fans on the day! Anyone Intending to travel to should ensure that they purchase their tickets from Firhill as soon as they become available. Tynecastle yesterday: Safety inspection planned for 13/11!!!
  19. Which is precisely what Lou Macari said to Jags players in the tunnel prior to the League Cup Final on 23/10/1971. Inexplicably, the normally loquacious Mr Macari was unavailable for comment after the match!
  20. Yet another manifestation of the football mantra that the customer is always ……..irrelevant! There can be no other business where the people who actually turn up to watch (effectively buy) the product are treated with such contempt! The most expensive time of year for families, the most difficult time of year in terms of competing attractions/commitments - so what happens? We have approximately one fixture every four days. And why? So the great and the good of the SPFL can have their much needed winter break. An opportunity to rest their weary bones and recharge their batteries for the challenges to come. Curious then that that rest and recharging will manifest itself in travelling abroad for money spinning friendly tournaments for the Gruesome Twosome and probably a few others from the upper echelons. The rest? Well we’ll see revenue drop as matches in December attract poorer crowds than they would do at other times of the year. We’ll see – or at least we would see if we were party to details of the finances – cash flow issues and we will twiddle our thumbs until our betters return from furth of these shores to deign to reengage with us! Scottish football administration at its least considerate, least logical and most predictable!
  21. Pick ups: Milngavie Station – 18:15 Esquire House – 18:35 Maryhill Community Halls – 18:45 Prices: £11 for adults £7 for concessions. (School aged children, unwaged adults, senior citizens & matriculated students) For seats non-members should e-mail [email protected]
  22. This was originally intended simply as an information posting for non-members wishing to travel with the North-West to Motherwell but, for a variety of valid reasons, has been rather overtaken by the need for clarification on the Jags Trust Raffle. I understand that a detailed update has been made by the JT and it is available on the thread entitled “Grand For A Century! Jags Trust Marks the Occasion” – originally posted in January 2017! Hope this helps.
  23. Let me firstly make it clear that I don't have a mandate to speak for the Jags Trust. I was simply alerting non-members who are regular travellers on the North-West to the details of our bus for Saturday next and to the availability of tickets for the Doolan Ball raffle. As I stated in clarification for Rid Skwerr: "Every branch has been given tickets for the raffle and all Trust members were sent tickets for them to buy and/or sell on to fellow fans!" Hopefully there is now no dubiety about the fact that any "fellow fan" can buy raffle tickets regardless of who they are, how they travel to matches or whether or not they are members of The Trust.
  24. Every branch has been given tickets for the raffle and all Trust members were sent tickets for them to buy and/or sell on to fellow fans!
  25. Bus details are as below: Saturday September 30 Milngavie Station 1:15 pm Esquire Anniesland 1:35 pm Maryhill CC Halls 1:45 pm Full Fare £11:00 Concession: £7:00(School aged children, unwaged adults, senior citizens & matriculated students) For seats, non-members should e-mail [email protected] Doolan Raffle: As you may know, The Jags Trust made a donation of £1000 to The Players' Fund in return for the ball with which Kris Doolan scored his 100th goal for The Jags. Now you have a chance to win that ball ( autographed and authenticated by Kris ) by buying a raffle ticket price £5:00 on the bus to Motherwell. The draw will take place on Saturday 21 October so don't miss out on your chance to own this unique piece of Firhill memorabilia.
