  1. It's not as much the scoreline Norge, it's the lack of fire and passion on the pitch that bothers me and that has IMO been happening more often of late. On the centre forward; we had Stevo playing up front when he's not a striker, what's that all about? we then play Doolan for a hanfull of games and are surprised that he is a bit rusty! So we drop him and bang on Eccy. Have a feeling this not so merry go round will probably continue.
  2. I understand the budget issue, however Archie had a big enough budget to blow 2 grand a week on Stevo. The stats look ok at the moment but I fear we are getting worse not better as time goes by. I keep an open mind, but I honestly do not think Archie is a very good manager, I would like to believe that he was, but I'm sorry to say that I have my doubts.
  3. The thing about stats DP is that you have to include all of them, not just the ones that suit you. So in our 4 games with Celtic we have lost them all, scored 2 goals and conceded 14. As said I don't really bother with stats, just not my cup of tea, but when you look at these I'm not sure what point your trying to make?
  4. Think this is where we disagree with each other DP. I believe we were a much better team in the first quarter of last season than the same period this season.
  5. Ian Mac; you would probably be better to read my post from the start
  6. That's true Scotty MaGoo, at the moment on the surface it all looks ok statistically. I thought last season we played very good football and were very unlucky in many games, this season I think we have been pretty poor and lucky to get results out of games. You and DP are right if you judge matters soley on statistics.
  7. I wish I was as happy and confident as you DP
  8. No, I'm not a bean counter by nature, prefer watching the game. I have though, over time come to the conclusion, that Archie is not a very good manager, sorry that I have not got any statistics to back it up yet, will relegation do?
  9. Funny how things change, at one time football fans would never have used the term "a bad day at the office" , changing working lifes and shifts in the make up of the audience have led to this, so thankfully we won't be having any more "trouble at mill".
  10. Ok, so it was Celtic, but this kind of thing is now happening all to often. The buck stops with Archie as he is presiding over a shambles of his own making. No wonder we can't score when he keeps chopping and changing the centre forward! His loyalty to Foxy and Balatoni is a mystery and remember it was Archie that blew the biggest part of our budget on Stevo, most of his other recent signings have the air of last minute stop gaps, just to get us through to the end of the season. Never mind a us hiring a taxi to get Davie McParland to the games or naming a stand after him, we should really be offering the man his job back
  11. Not sure about Stevo on a plastic pitch, to be honest not to sure about Stevo at all. However, he may be good on a heavy, slow moving, waterlogged grass pitch. Perhaps best to "rest" Stevo for another week.
  12. That's true, but at least his hearts in the right place
  13. I have to say I like the way Banzo plays, nothing much wrong with that tackle.
  14. Not having a pop at you Falklanall1, but for what it's worth here are my reasons why I believe this is not a good idea; We are basically selling things cheaper to people who are either willing too, or already have paid the full price. We need more new blood through the doors. Probably best thing about Thistle is that we are not the old firm and are a friendly club. The biggest selling point we have at the moment is that we are a premiership team and that all "kids go free". Our club IMO should be shouting this from the roof tops whenever we can and it would be worth advertising this on local television, press, radio, social media etc. Many young kids want to go to the football, if we can really promote Thistle as the family friendly club, with free admission for kids, that will surely bring plenty of new faces through the door. Say the club was to spend £3000 on advertising this and it brought 1000 more through the gate with roughly half paying the admission price that would bring in about £10000 before any add ons. We should speculate to acumalate on this one, better this than to move about in ever decreasing circles.
  15. You were lucky to be at that game Angry Gaz, my dad was at it and brought me home the programme, perhaps one of the best Scotland games of all time. Watched a bit of it on Youtube recently, that penalty was one of the worst/best decisions ever! I thinks it's really sad when clubs leave their home grounds, however, some of those old grounds were pretty dangerous in places. I remember going to Maine Road and sitting in a stand call the "Platt Lane" it was a massive old wooden stand behind the goals, kitted out with bench seating, to get to the top of the stand you had to go up a metal staircase on the outside of the stand, that was caged in all the way and when busy packed with punters like sardines. That stand was a death trap and got pulled down not long after the Bradford disaster. Sometimes, when you look back you shudder and sometimes you smile.
  16. I can't really comment on Nathan Ecclestone. I do however have much more faith in Kris Doolan up front, than I do of Stevo "playing" as a striker. Archie hasn't done Doolan any favours.
  17. Early on last season we dominated games, but seemed to want to walk the ball into the net, nobody seemed that keen to take a shot. When Lyle Taylor came in it Higgy started to hit form also Gary Fraser came in and started to have loads of pot shots, which also seemed to encourage othres to have a shot. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that we were a bit shot shy during the first half of last season. Taylor & Doolan both excellent strikers.
  18. So glad you concur, it's a major concern of mine too Barnaby
  19. Say what you like about Stevo, I bet he would flatten Paton no bother
  20. I think Shawfield is still going as a dog racing track?
  21. People see things in different ways, I don't know why Foxy still gets a game, but lots of folk on here think he's tip top, others prefer Gallagher, indded, Juan Carlos was even saying we have a settled back four, people really do see things very differently!
  22. The thing that really puzzles me about Stevo, was is him getting played at centre forward. Can't work out Arcies thinking on this one, don't really blame Stevo as he was never going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Would be surprised if any other team would be willing to take him off our hands, but then again you never know, as we signed him, so perhaps some other club will take him off our hands? The sad thing is, Stevo could be really good, no doubt that he has talent, just think he is perhaps letting it go to waste.
  23. Good move by Archie to bring in another centre half. Good luck to you Freddy Frans.
