  1. And if you look at how little money the current squabble is over (Forfar were talking about around £3K) that is going to impact on how some clubs vote. Win The Championship and you now get 0.14% less than the club who came 3rd this year. And that is before the League One clubs think about the loss from losing their biggest travelling support. I'm not sure that the finances are as clear cut as you think
  2. So if we add 2 extra teams to League 2 then the bottom 2 get nothing ? We are dividing money that went to 42 teams between 44 so somewhere the prize money is diluted.
  3. Currently we need the backing of the member clubs to support a reconstruction of the leagues. That is our only hope of avoiding relegation. Is it therefore a good idea to piss off these same member clubs by delaying the payments or slagging them off. I really don't know what is the best way forward.
  4. Would we be better petitioning for and and getting a mandate for the independent inquiry into the dealings that went on. I'm sure that there are many clubs who voted yes who are not happy with how it was conducted. Worst case is that this shamble might never happen again. Best case would be a change in the SPFL executive and some fresh thinking.
  5. I think that we need to speak to Ann Budge to find out exactly what her plans are, what are the timescales and how likely they are to succeed. (We might also want to speak to others) Once we know that we can make a balanced decision on the risk/reward of taking legal action
  6. This is a tough one to know what to do. If the 12-10-10-10 no relegation does happen then we couldn’t have got a much better result, not just for us but for Scottish Football. (The 3 up from championship is clearly a hoax). However that is hardly set in stone and we could end up with reconstruction plans ripped up once the money has been paid. On balance I think we need to go to the courts if only to force the reconstruction.
  7. The reference is to 2 other Premiership clubs who they expected to vote no but didn't "at least two Premiership clubs had modified their position from the understanding we had the day prior."
  8. They set up to announce DFC vote then the club statement made it a damp squib A reconstruction working party was set up
  9. Must be the longest period since Friday without a new spfl story
  10. Under the current SPFL arrangement Hearts/Dundee UTD is to be decided at a later date once the SPL is completed, so it is no change. Other than that no relegation and 2 promotted with Brora/Keilty promoted to make up the numbers Play to completion and League One might lose their biggest club anyway.
  11. Looks like Dundee have got reconstruction on the agenda with an splf task force set up. I just hope that they take the role seriously. My preference would be for a 14-16-16 set up but that might be too much change and might not get past the SPL self interest. 12-12-10-10 might be easiest to implement and there would only be winners from that with no losers.
  12. A NO could be changed to a YES within 28 days. I'm not sure that it is possible to withdraw a vote and we certainly don't want to change to a YES
  13. I'm sure that Thistle (and ICT and Hearts) will be in contact with Dundee. From today's statement it sounds like we are on the same page
  14. That is true that drug companies are working together and that a vaccine when available will be freely distributed.
  15. Maybe we have misjudged them and they have always wanted the integrity and impartiality and by cancelling their vote it was the best tool to get that moving. Perhaps reconstruction of the league was always their bargaining point and it wasn't about glamour friendlies. I'm happy to have the jury out on DFC and see where this saga goes.
  16. But are Celtic that desperate to get a title which will always have an asterisk against it, especially as they would be odds on to get the 9 in a row whenever football resumes.
  17. Someone earlier today said that some Norwegian big cheese was suggesting no more sport in 2020. I can believe that
  18. Yes some business will resume, especially if social distancing can be maintained. Despite Thistle’s efforts to trial it this year, social distancing on a football pitch is unlikely.
  19. 66 million units for UK. 7.7 billion for the world. manufacturing and delivery will be the issues
  20. There may be a vaccine, it may have even be tested, but I doubt that it will be produced in volume enough to vaccinate everyone who needs it, or that there will be sufficient NHS staff to actually deliver the vaccine
  21. Can we forget about closed doors. Leave aside the demand on the emergency services, there is the shear number of tests required. It is not just a test and instant result, there is a 3 day turn around on the current test, so it would have to be all the coaches and reserves and backroom staff that come into contact with the first team. plus the referees and assistants and perhaps also their families too. Lets make a conservative estimate of 50 tests per club times 42 clubs is 2,100 tests, just for football. Then when do you test and how often ? It would need to be atleast 3 days before a match to get the results back and presumably you would want to test before each match. I'm not sure how many matches are remaining on the calendar, but adding in cup games there must be over 50, so that takes us to over 100,000 tests. Finally, what happens if a player fails a test. He will have been in contact with others in the squad who would assumably also need to go into 14 days isolation. If we are talking about 2 games per week, presumably that will be 4 games that need to be postponed every time there is a failed test. Totally impractical.
  22. I understand the complications in league reconstruction that involves the SPL, but as this is about terminating the lower leagues, would there be a case for changing them. So, no relegation, but 2 promoted from each league and Brora / Keilty added to league 2 to give a 12-10-10 structure. The reduced prize money in the Championship as a result of 2 extra teams would be offset by 4 additional home games for each club. I'm sure that cups can be adjusted to accomodate the extra fixtures. The only team who would now suffer is Dundee Utd, but even then that would be decided at a later date when a decision on the SPL/Hearts is made. Have I missed something ?
