  1. Grant, perhaps the guy feels too insecure to admit his errors and is simply on the defensive. There's undoubtedly in my mind reservations about Levein as an international manager but some of the criticism verges on character assassination. Besides I can't off the top of my head come up with a replacement. Sure I can think of managers who would perhaps do a better job but very few of them would be interested in the position. Someone (maybe more) mentioned Strachan and/or Davies. Just my opinion but the former doesn't appear as the sort that would have the mental stamina to last in the job and the latter comes across as confrontational, which is about the last trait we need. Anyway and far more to the point regardless of who is in charge off the pitch no Scotland team is ever going to succeed or even reach moderate success without leaders on the park.
  2. I reckon most neutrals watching the game last night would have said that the result was never really in doubt. For us Scots tho' it was torture. But what's new? I'm no lover of Levein and I've no idea if that's the strongest side we could have put out but I thought for once tactically we were OK. Better Scotland managers than Levein have put out teams that have come a cropper against sides we should be beating easily. Results against Poland ('65) Zaire, Iran, New Zealand, Costa Rica spring to mind. If Levein's job was relatively safe before, then last night's result and any defeat in single figures on Tuesday won't make his position any less secure.
  3. Perhaps Lambie asked to be treated similarly to how we treated Davie McParland? If this is true some may find irony that our immediate past manager has been a bit of a regular at Firhill since his sudden departure.
  4. Popular lad is Mr Strachan. Was it not just the other month someone posted that he was being sought after to be a trialist elsewhere?
  5. Big Armand is now at Alloa. Played a few times for them but has yet to score.
  6. If I ever knew that then I must have forgotten. Makes sense as I say Symon was never a coach, a very old school manager. There you go, learning something new every day. Just watching the news yesterday I learnt that it's extremely unlikely that Wayne Rooney was adopted.
  7. When Symon was the manager who was his assistant/coach? Never gave it much thought at the time but Scott S was at no time in his career a hands on manager.
  8. Slight exaggeration perhaps, lenny?
  9. like a Gulfport/Biloxi baddie company in a Grisham novel.
  10. Even if he Hutton was listed I still feel Cairney would shade it. Hutton played well up at Dingwall but was just finding his feet with the regard to teamwork. He certainally hadn't an exceptionally good game at Livingston.
  11. Given the reason he stayed in the NE I can't see why it would worry him that much.
  12. Me too. Don't feel we ever got a chance to raise a glass to Marc Smyth and Adam Strachan.
  13. Cairney for me too. Think he's been the most consistent over the last four games and now putting in 90 minute shifts.
  14. Would love to play the devil's advocate with that but can't even dream up a semblance of a counter argument. Individual posts on this (or any other) website should always be taken with at least a few grams of salt. Collectively posts and polls on here are far removed from an exact science. But for a supporters group to ignore or misrepresent the groundswell of opinion from fellow supporters on here verges on the incredible. Do they think we all travel on the same virtual bus?
  15. You're right about ICT but Livingston were in the 3rd division by then.
  16. There must be something about the guy. According to Soccerbase he's only scored three goals in over 50 appearances since Cappielow. Is he a Santala in reverse or something ie a forward converted to centreback?
  17. It was still there at the time of the Ayr game but they were in the midst of redecorating then. Btw anyone seen the snug on your travels? Can't have gone far, eh?
  18. There is some merit in punting the ball to Doolan as his first touch is so good. I don't think it should be the default ball by any means but the odd safety first hoof up the park is in no way always a wasted ball as was the case a few seasons back.
  19. I was in repairing one of their uilleann pipes. It had sprung a leak.
  20. Well you get to my age and you're wary of any change . To tell the truth I'm more upset that the little snug has disappeared in the S & G.
