Take a look at the rumour pages on the BBC football site (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/8734436.stm) or Football265.com. Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are linked with loads of players that they would not sign in a million years. In many cases, clubs are trying to offload players for big fees. In others, agents are trying to drum interest in their clients and/or get them better deals.
Both the BBC and the owners of Football365.com (Sky?) have expensive libel lawyers to advise them. If a player sued the owners of this site, they would have to demonstrate significant damage to their reputation. Given the limited number of members, that would be very difficult. Frankly, you have been given wrong advice. I get mine from a relative who is one Scotland's top libel lawyers.
