  1. Hope he's shagging John Terry's wife whilst he's in South Africa!
  2. Our current first team would be Scully Paton Robertson Kinniburgh Archibald (when fit)/Boyle Rowson Cairney Hodge Erskine Buchanan Doolan/Grehan Subs from Shepherd Boyle McGeough Boyle McBeth Corcoran Doolan/Grehan Hinchcliffe would warm the bench. McNamara would probably replace Hodge. Donnelly would compete with Doolan and Grehan.
  3. Barry Douglas is a talented chap. I have seen him play a couple of times live. He has great skill and composure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8RVpf1v9Q0. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_Douglas
  4. The Binos chances of survival will depend on the choice of new manager and finances. We are only slightly better off because we own the stadium and used the PropCo deal to reduce the debts from a similar level. Like us, the Binos will wait until the last minute to make signings. There could be a few bargains or good loan deals available.
  5. We never had a chance of signing Douglas as we could not compete with the offers from the other clubs. He made the wrong choice in signing for the Arabs and should have picked Watford.
  6. Raith Rovers have signed Scott McBride from Cowdenbeath - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/r/raith_rovers/8736111.stm.
  7. Carragher looked out of his depth when he came on. His booking puts him at risk of an early suspension. England are weak at the back, especially on the right. I cannot understand why Wes Brown was overlooked. Shaun Wright-Phillips was terrible on the left when he came on. England do not have a genuine left-winger yet Adam Johnson and Stewart Downing (did not make the initial 30) were left out too.
  8. Cairney, one of McCall's best signings, will be a vital player for us next season. Good luck to him.
  9. But how much does the youth set-up cost per player who makes it to the first team? Look at the duds that "GGlicked..." listed. You rightly question McCall's judgement in assessing which "seasoned pros" to sign. Can we be confident that he will be better at developing the youths? Until January, I had a lot of confidence in IM but it has evaporated in the last six months.
  10. Agreed. Andy Millen has left St. Mirren - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/st_mirren/8735388.stm - and would bring a lot of experience to Firhill.
  11. We are going to need good cup runs next year to get some cash in, ideally from television, next season. I must, again, question the financial viability/logic of the youth set-up when we have huge debts and are struggling to fund the first-team squad. On gates of two to three thousand at best, we are not a big club who can afford an SPL set-up.
  12. Jay De Merit was released by Watford.
  13. Dosser thinks that he was jinxed at Firhill so there was no chance that he would re-sign for us. It is significant that he is dropping down a division. Perhaps he thinks that he would struggle in Division One, either physically or to get a deal. Good luck to him. At least he has some financial security.
  14. That is a sensible approach. You are more at risk of a libel action if members here make false accusations (or allegations) in relation to players or club officials, especially board members. However, they would have demonstrate material damage to their reputation and/or income.
  15. Take a look at the rumour pages on the BBC football site (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/8734436.stm) or Football265.com. Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are linked with loads of players that they would not sign in a million years. In many cases, clubs are trying to offload players for big fees. In others, agents are trying to drum interest in their clients and/or get them better deals. Both the BBC and the owners of Football365.com (Sky?) have expensive libel lawyers to advise them. If a player sued the owners of this site, they would have to demonstrate significant damage to their reputation. Given the limited number of members, that would be very difficult. Frankly, you have been given wrong advice. I get mine from a relative who is one Scotland's top libel lawyers.
  16. Rae looks like Michael Stipe from REM. http://im.sify.com/images/may2008/Michael-Stipe.jpg
  17. Mo Johnston, John Buckley, Dave MacKinnon and Andy Murdoch for starters.
  18. "Pressley, though, is keen to help the player's recovery and said: "I've made it clear to Jackie he can do his recovery and his full rehab with us. "If he has the chance to go to Thistle to both play and coach it's a great opening for him." http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/football/sfl/2010/06/09/falkirk-to-aid-jags-bound-jackie-mcnamara-s-rehab-86908-22320806/ That's very generous of Pressley.
  19. Steve Lovell signs for Bournemouth and will play in League One next season. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/bournemouth/8708769.stm He's got a generous, or stupid, brother-in-law!
  20. Graeme Holmes and Marc Smyth confirmed too - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/m/morton/8731370.stm.
  21. Ryan Esson has signed a new contract with ICT - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/i/inverness_ct/8730512.stm. ""We are still looking to add another keeper to the squad, replacing Kyle Allison, who was released," said Butcher." I doubt that Jonny would settle for anything less than guranteed first team football. His options look limited so you never know....
  22. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/k/kilmarnock/8729667.stm Please God, make it happen!
  23. They got over 5,000 when they pumped Kenny Arthur's new club at the end of last season - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_3/8632870.stm. "League 2", i.e. the old 4th Division, can offer bigger crowds and better wages than us.
  24. You have to question the contracts and extensions that McCall gave to Boyle, Corcoran, Kinniburgh, Doolan, Paton and Hodge. How can you celebrate the prospect of a team featuring (and coached by) the duds that had the worst 1st Division record in 2010?
