    A Quiz

Quinton Jacobs, Derek Lyle, Eric Paton? Brian Martin? Robert Dunn, Brian Hamilton
  2. Bannigan also conspicuous by his absence which is why you should be punted.
  3. Are willie and column both words that can mean the same thing?
  4. No, I understand. Sorry. What I mean is that, based on many of the comments on other threads, not everyone would agree that I'm being generous to Archie by giving him Christie. Personally I think I am. Anyway, I suppose the main point of original post was to highlight that we now have decent options in just about every position, and for a bit of fun, match up Archie's signings against what we already had. I don't think there's a lot in it myself. I probably prefer last season's side but that's principaly because we had a lot of success last season and it was a lot of fun. This one was alweays going to be tougher, and I think the new signings had to bring something different (experience, solidity) so it's not really a fair like-for-like comparison anyway. Archie's doing fine anyway.
  5. I don't think we're the same team without Stuart Bannigan in midfileld, pulling strings from the back. That would be my biggest concern in dropping him to left-back. I left Ozzy out on purpose, as he won't be available again unless we sign him again.
  6. Archie's now virtually signed a player in every position, excluding left back. We'll give him Christie since he wasn't getting a look in under greeting faced rat weasel. So, what's the better team? Fox SOD Balatoni Muirhead Sinclair Welsh Bannigan Lawless Craigen Erskine Doolan Or Gallagher McMillan Picollo Mair Taylor-Sinclair Moncur Fraser Elliott Bauaben Higginbotham Taylor I reckon it's a tough call. A bit more experience among the signings, which was probably necessary, probably a bit more flair in the inheritance. Either way, good to see that we now have virtually two teams available.
  7. See Alba's wee intro thing on I-player has Firhill from a distance right in the middle if the opening shot. Was that just for this programme or do they use that all the time? Looks like a Jags fan made it.
  8. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of Doolan, and I like Taylor too, but I think Archie's taking a bit of a gamble as it is, running with just two strikers in the squad, and I don't think he'd have done that if he had any intention of playing two up front. And if it's not his intention then I see no benefit in a player suggesting otherwise in the press. I don't think it's a huge deal, I doubt that any harm or disrespect was intended (and it doesn't read that way), I just think it's unhelpful, and even more so when it's something that many fans are calling for. Players and manager have to show unity.
  9. I'm afraid I think there is. I think they're measured and reasonable but I don't think they should be the subject of a discussion between a player and a journalist. Oops, I may have dribbled in my pants slightly.
  10. Hate top criticise a Thistle player, but if Lyle Taylor is really saying this then he should shut up and get on with doing his own job.
  11. I actually thought it was a penalty at the time, and haven't seen it since, but McNamara's still a dick.
  12. I think by releasing Baird, Archie has made it pretty clear that he has no intention of switching to playing two strikers.
  13. I'm really happy that he isn't our manager. Lacks dignity. Same as Adams.
  14. "I thought it was two points dropped when you look at the result of the other game." ?? Do you think Archie wants to join in our thread??
  15. Either you weren't at the game or you weren't watching. Fantastic performance.
  16. Paton was going wild, so worked up. Fair play, I wish he still played for us.
  17. Ps, still no home wins, but today was the first draw where we scored the last goal. It feels so much better.
  18. I love Christie. If you'd told me two years ago that we'd be playing premier league and he'd be getting a start I'd have laughed. He's seizing the opportunity he's been given with everything he has and he's making himself valuable at a level that I thought was beyond him. Full credit. I feel that his future is tied to Thistle's and whatever league we end up in I'd be delighted to see him as a Jags player for a long time.
  19. Thought about starting this thread myself. Gary Fraser was great and he scored the goal, so I don't grudge him MoM, but Stuart Bannigan is a fantastic footballer and he did not put a foot wrong today. For me he is the biggest influence on the way we play and the success we've had, and it's brilliant to see him proving it in the premier league. Putting him on a two year contract was a brilliant piece of business.
  20. Gallagher McMillan Mair Balatoni ATS Bauaben Bannigan Higgy Fraser Elliott Taylor Come on Thistle!
