  1. Haha that made me laugh a little. I'm not sure I even know what you're on about really - if the situation really is that bad then it's obviously due to the previous govt who held power for years, not the new one that has been in only days. Not to mention that that link is to an article written a few weeks ago. I take quite an interest in UK politics and was happy to see Mr Brown and his cronies ousted. Perhaps this new govt will put a stop to the excessive spending of taxpayers' money, maybe even enough to lower taxes. It happens all over the world - a left-wing govt gets in and spends as much of the peoples' money as it can, only to end up making a mess of things. Which is when the people turn to a right-wing party to clean up the mess. It happened in NZ recently, and has happened just now there in the UK.
  2. One of the reasons I became a Thistle man was because unlike the old firm fans, Jags fans seemed to love and follow their club, including going to Firhill on match day, whether the team was winning or not! The Jags fans I met in Glasgow seemed to be jovial and happy to support their team regardless of the results, or for that matter any possible issues with the stadium or atmosphere therein. On the other hand the gers and celts fans I met were often angry souls who slagged off their team if they performed poorly - even booing the team they claim to love (which I find disgusting). None of the excuses I have read here for not fully supporting our club suffice in my opinion. If you make feeble excuses to stay away then things are only going to get worse. Get out there and support our team! If I lived in Glasgow I'd be at every game I could possibly make, even if we were at the bottom of division 3 and Firhill was falling to bits. I don't think there's any excuse for this treachery!
  3. I voted Blackburn, purely 'cos their captain is a Kiwi so stoked they beat the gunners the other day, awesome. I won't really follow the EPL at all until someone other than Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool (though not this season!) threatens to win the league. I despise those four clubs. Almost as much as I despise the old firm. Good on Tottenham for getting up there this year but I don't care for them either. Other than Blackburn the only other clubs I have a soft spot for are Sunderland (pretty good year for them!) and Newcastle but only 'cos my local club I have played for my whole life wear the black and white stripes and are known as the magpies That being said there is still plenty of good football to be seen in the EPL, so I can't help but watch it now and then though I don't really care about the outcome. Unless of course Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool are playing, then I'm going for the other team.
  4. I think the current home shirt is the best one yet, black shorts good too just not a big fan of the socks - maybe just straight yellow. Definitely not stripes though, nasty. Hoops for sure, even all the way around, but I don't know about this 'paint brush effect'... Too many changes to the strip aint good I feel, stick to the red and yellow hoops! No black needed in the shirts either (other than the current black trim) if the shorts are black. Just my humble opinion from the other side of the world
  5. At least you can all actually attend games, whether you like the venue or not...

    Jags Fans In Nz

True, true, and very considerate I was hoping to make the first home game in any case, so at this stage that sounds like a great plan! Will have to wait and see what date that will be exactly but I don't foresee any problems. I'd say there will be a good crowd for that one so would that would be ideal!
  7. For sure, will sort something out - am thinking first home game this season but will see what happens. I saw your personalised plate, I'm jealous! I have the wee PTFC mini scarf thing in my car window - it gets the same confused look :) Oh well will catch ya in the forums I'm sure! 'til August...

  8. There must be one more... Count me in for the pre-season friendly!

    Jags Fans In Nz

Definitely, though I'll have a whisky in place of the sherry Phoenix fan too of course (being our only professional team) so will be making at least one trip over Cook Strait this coming season. As an early call how about the first home game of the season? Plenty of time to sort something anyway!
  10. Hi there! I have yet to meet a fellow Jags fan in NZ! Though I am way down south... Just thought I'd say hello, good to see there's a few fans in NZ!

  11. My wife and I must share the title of 'Most southerly Nomad/s' for now - we're not in Invercargill but not too far away! South Canterbury represent see my post in the other Nomads thread. We have yet to make a game at Firhill or anywhere for that matter - though we do make it to Glasgow now and then as we are both part of a successful Pipe Band, it's always late July early August for the Pipe Band World Champs which are usually held on the very first day of the football season! Next time we're gonna stay a while after so we can make a game!
  12. I'll take that crown thanks! I'm in Temuka, South Canterbury! My wife and I are both big fans of the Jags so I guess I have to share the crown with her... Good to know there are a few Jags fans around NZ though! Perhaps we can organise a NZ fan club and maybe even a meeting one weekend?? Thoughts Kiwis?
