Some good fixtures this week for the young Jags and always good to play Queens Park.

It will be the first visit to Lesser Hampden after it's revamp and looking forward to this on Sunday with the U15's after the last entertaining game served up by these two teams a few months back.

A fixture not on the list is an U16's Development game against QP at Lesser tonight (Fri 13th) with an 8pm ko where the Thistle squad will be made up boys in the U17's still eligible to play U16's and boys being moved up from the U15's.

Should be another good game and another I'm looking forward to watching

Good luck to all the young Jags this weekend :fan:

Queens Park 2 Thistle Weir 6 (U15's)

A comfortable win in the end for the young Jags who finished the game very strong and should maybe have been more emphatic.

The young Jags got off to a great start in this game with a well worked team goal after 5mins.

The ball was played down the left with nice short passes between the Thistle lads before it was cut back to the edge of the box where it was met perfectly by Thistle's right mid who hammered it into the top left hand corner leaving the keeper no chance.

QP got back into it after gaining a soft free kick on the edge of the box which they scored direct from and was a well taken goal.

Both sides played some good football in what was near perfect conditions and on the new artificial surface at Lesser which also looked great and a much better surface for football than most artificial pitches i have seen.

HT 1-1

Second half started with Thistle on the front foot and having most of the possession with the QP defence being made to work hard.

This good defending and some excellent goalkeeping was keeping QP level, but against the run of play it was QP who were to score next and a poor goal to lose from Thistle's perspective

A harmless looking cross from a corner was missed by the GK and fell to the feet of the QP CF who tapped home from a few yards

This only made the young Jags more determined as they upped the pace and after making a few substitutions they scored the equaliser a few minutes later.

From then on it was all Thistle and some of the football being played was excellent and the third goal wasn't slow in coming.

The pacey CF for Thistle raced away from the QP defence and finsihed well.

The fourth arrived soon after and again it was a pinpoint through ball that was depatched by Thistle's number 10 who had made a great forward run.

The fifth goal was near identical with the young QP defence struggling to cope with the advance runs of Thistle's midfielders into the QP penalty box.

Number six was to be the final goal of the day and rounded off a good day for the young Jags who had found the good form they are capable of which was missing last week against Stirling Albion.

Well done to both sides for putting on a good game of football and played at an excellent venue and facilities which is Lesser Hampden.

Only other score i know of is a 5-1 win for Thistle against QP at U17 age group.
