Tam
I live in a privately owned terraced house, and I'm sick and tired of my house smelling of smoke from next door council rented unemployed residents ! It is permeating through an adjoining wall (single course) at the back of the house where they have ripped off the plasterboard 18months ago and have done nothing with it. Mediation with these neds is not an option. Do I have recourse by some other means or am I to suffer that horrible smell of fags all through the winter ? Opinions and advice welcome. alx
That's got to be illegal, contact CAB and the council. In the meantime, get a load of stink bombs, fire off a salvo in the back room every time they smoke, seal the door with masking tape and retreat. Your gripe must surely be with the council, not the smokers who live next door. Get the council to fix the plasterboard. I work (whatever that has to do with anything, so I'm left wondering why you felt the urge to mention your neighbour's employment status). I smoke in my own home (does that make me a "ned" too I wonder?). If you were my neighbour and chapped my door to attempt "mediation" (i.e. tell me to quit smoking in my own house) I reckon you might have to stagger back clutching your throat and your three adam's apples! (edited to add..... no offence intended) Contact the council and/or your local councillor. Edited October 8, 2010 by hamiltonjag
Graemei
Yes, speak to the council. I think the gripe may be aimed at the chain smoking, spongers who are clearly no good at DIY if they are responsible for the defect in the wall.
