Hi, as onethistle starts to ramp up (watch this space), we are looking for some specific and generalist help on matchdays.

So, if you, or anyone you know, are interested in any of the following roles, please let me know at the following email address - [email protected], or at Firhill in person on a matchday.

Matchday DJ/Backup Stadium Announcer -

Primary role is to source, manage and play all music on matchdays, working with and in support of, the Stadium announcer. Needs to have a broad taste in music and be comfortable editing, playing and selecting music.

Also required to act as backup to the regular announcer for holidays, sickness and when he's just too idle to complete the full 90 mins. Must have a good speaking voice (naturally), be calm under pressure and have a good sense of humour (all the things the current incumbent isn't).

Matchday Volunteers -

There is a ton of stuff that goes on each matchday and onethistle's aim is to work hard at improving the matchday experience for all Thistle fans.

To this end, we are looking for volunteers who can help out on a matchday. It needn't be every game, but we are looking to establish a pool of volunteers who can help with various activities, including:

- Customer Liaison - working as first line support to Thistle fans in and around the stadium on everything from repatriating lost children to ensuring there are paper towels in the loos to helping manage queues to starting a singsong in the Shed

- Turnstile operators - experience of handling cash and dealing with customers

- Press support - supporting the media on a matchday

- Office staff - customer-facing in the office and over the phone.

- Thistle Futures support - organising Player Zone, signing up Thistle Futures and Ultras members

- Programme & 50/50 Sellers - handling cash, working with customers

As you would imagine, these roles carry a salary commensurate with the title "volunteer" (ie Nothing) but you may occasionally get to wear a hi-vis vest and you will definitely get the sense of satisfaction that comes from knowing you are helping Glasgow's Oldest and Best Professional Football Club.

Thanks, Lance

Excellent piece on the OS, Lance. A great opportunity fir volunteers past, present and future to come together and enjoy working as a team for the benefit of Thistle and the matchday experience. Let's make it 'Firhill for Thrills' once again.

This season is feeling like it could be the one to be part of what's going on. And a decent chance of pushing for the title and a couple of decent cup runs along the way.

Lance has had a good response so far; but I'm also after 3-4 extra folk who would be willing to cover the JHS, North Stand and Kids Zone as onethistle
customer liaison volunteers
for our next two home games (Dumbarton 25/8, Hamilton 1/9).

I'm making up a rota to get this off the ground. We'll test the idea out over the next two games, before we establish a pool of good, smiley, friendly helpers - and then we'll look at training support.
