CUMBERNAULD JAG
IIRC, Bayern had 20+ corners in the CL final last year, and they didn't score once... (Chelsea on the other hand, scored from their first and only corner...) I would have loved very hard, if Celtic had actually won or drawn this game, but it seems to be an unwritten rule, that a ref has to give Barca just as long as they need to win the game in extra time. Why would you want them to win ?? FTOF
general george
Remember that Scotland's UEFA co-efficient is declining rapidly. The lower it goes, the greater the chance that we will lose more places. I'm afraid that wasn't uppermost in my mind when I made the post, in other words I couldn't give a fcuk!
twinny
Group A is difficult to predict. 3 teams have chances. D Zagreb will finish with 0 point. Group B is very fierce battle. Arsenal is the favourite, but they might fail. Group C is not very difficult to predict. Milan and Zenit will proceed to the last 16. Malaga might have some chance, but very difficult. Group D is very easy to predict. Real Madrid and Man City will win. Ajax and Dortmund have no chance. Group E is difficult to predict. 3 teams have chances. Nordsjælland will finish with 0 point. Group F is not difficult to predict. Bayern München and Valencia will win. Lille do not have enough quality to beat these 2. BATE may get 1 or 2 points. Group G is difficult to predict. Barcelona will win the group without a defeat. Other 3 teams have chances. Group H is ManUtd's group. ManUtd will finish without defeat. Braga and Galatasaray cannot be easily decided. Cluj might finish with 0 point. Let's see how Sige's predictions went then... though it might be a little unfair in his absence. Group A: Zagreb got 1 point. Group B: Arsenal got through but only in second. Group C: Malaga won the group comfortably, with Milan in second. Group D: Dortmund ran away with the group, not bad considering they had no chance. Man City the worst English club to grace the Champions League. Group E: Nordsjaelland got 1 point. Group F: Correct, Bayern and Valencia through. Lille's solitary win coming against BATE and BATE getting six points. Group G: Barcelona lost one game, but it was close between Celtic and Benfica. Group H: Man Utd won with Cluj losing out to Galatasaray on head to head (10 points each). The last point makes me wonder about rules in true Sige fashion. What should ties in points be decided by, goal difference or head to head? Cluj had a better goal difference but worse head to head. For me if it is a league where you play each team home and away then goal difference is fairer; if Galatasaray had a better H2H than Cluj then they did worse against the other teams in the group. Overall sige's predictions weren't too wild, only really getting Dortmund and Cluj spectacularly wrong.
Mr Bunny
Were any of these results affected by big teams (e.g. Man U) when they were already through playing weak teams in final games?
