  2. Another enjoyable away game today. Great atmosphere and two teams giving it everything. Not one for the purist but on a tight slippery pitch on a wet and windy day, sometimes all you can do is clear your lines and I think that most of us who were there were generally happy to see Luke McBeth and others launch the ball up the pitch rather than play through the lines. Some of the comments here are rather more negative than my impression of the game. We made a very fast start and besieged Ayr for the first ten minutes. The next twenty minutes were our weakest and I appreciate that some of the more critical posts may have been made then. Ayr did then have a measure of control and of course got their goal. We were finding it hard to break out. However the last fifteen minutes of the first half were better and we were generally on the front foot for most of the second half. When we had to defend, O’Reilly and McBeth were resolute and made some excellent blocks. Roberts produced some great saves in both halves. He really is a find. Milne was as often the case our best outfield player. A real battler with lots of skill and of course our primary source of headed goals. Nilsson seemed to find the game too feisty for him. Graham did tire and I think Diack could have replaced him rather than playing alongside him. Fitzpatrick made a tremendous impact off the bench. Chalmers did well coming on too, though his end product was rather more mixed. Fans gave tremendous backing and the players responded to that. No idea about the alleged Graham incident but that would be totally at odds with the synergy between players and fans which was generally on display. In summary, you could not fault the players for effort. We were a bit lacking in skill and fluidity and I agree that this is not yet league winning form. But it was at least a step in the right direction and something to build on.

  3. If true, then presumably in response to some “fans” giving him abuse. If they don’t like the team selection then no point in taking it out on the player, especially one who always gives 100%. Graham gets dogs abuse from opposition fans ( a back handed compliment), disappointing if some of our own are doing so, especially a guy who has done and still does so much for the club. I can’t get excited about a draw at Ayr either, just hoping we can use it to turn a corner onto something better.
