  1. Terrible stuff by Scotland again. It's not a surprise and clearly two Fletchers and a Brown would help but defensivlely we're utterly awful - not one defender anywhere near international class. Very depressing - pot 6 hear we come - and once there it's a long way back.
  2. Not that i get to the games, but judging by the highlights this season Erskine has scored about 5 of the best goals ever by a Jag - some player. Another superb result today - apparently against the 3rd best team in the league.
  3. Forgot that - aye that was dire - just dire
  4. Even though we sunk lower, i think some of the days in division 1 in the 1980s were pretty low - i remember lots of games at Firhill where we were terrible, crowds were low, and the team / manager were getting pelters for most of the game. A 0-3 v Forfar wasn't good but there were many. Possibly the worst was a 5-1 defeat at Broomfield - Billy Lamint brought the players back put onto the park afterwards to shout at them in front of an enraged Thistle support. A very cowardly act, and i think he was sacked soon after. The 7-3 home defeat by Saints was so bizarre as to be less bad somehow. Plus Donnolly scored a 25 yard back heel volley.
  5. Leishman has always been a tube in my opinion - big fish in a small pond and self-styled 'personality'. Not helped of course by a sychophantic media of course.
  6. Archie must have done something with the midfield too to achieve the much better defensive record given that it's the same players. For all that , folk on here are saying players are off the boil (Welsh, Sod) or don't try (Forbes) i din't think that can be the case given that they are involved most weeks - Paton and Bannigan cant be doing all the work? All that said, i can't get to games so what do i know. Maybe Balatoni and Muirhead have just got something special.
  7. Great knowledge kni ! Aye Park was great just when i started going in late 70s. Also remember a great goal from him in the 6-0 cup game at Shawfield although most folk temember this game for MoJo's hat trick. Hard to believe that team didn't get promoted - quality much better back then!
  8. If so that will be a terrible appointment - just another one of the merry-go-round guys.
  9. Did someone (Morton?) maybe pay money for Alec O'Hara? And we might have got money from St Mirren in the Charnley / Elliott deal? Also where did Paddy Kelly go?
  10. Great to win the league - if we then stick to the style of play, the SPL will be good. If not then it will be dreadful, as it's utterly pointless as a competition. Watching teams like St Mirren, Dundee, and St Johnstone play 'percentage football' holds zero appeal if we simply do the same. This team will be the best I've seen if they go up and stay up playing like they can. At present the Lambie 94 and Auld 78 teams are better for sheer competence and some great performances v the OF etc.
  11. If Archie gets the job and we go up, Thistle will be in danger of having appointed three good managers in a row in McCall, McNamara, and him. This can't have happened before - or has it?
