  1. If they play like that they’ll take average 6 points from every nine to the end of the season - but how likely is that!
  2. Today was my boy’s first ever Jags match and my first for far too long. i thought that the team and support were superb. We were 4 or 5 goals better than that shocking Morton team - no football from them at all. Pretty much everyone played well, and the old school daftness in the shed (mainly but not all handbags) brought back some amusing memories of very similar. My wee boy whose only other game was Brighton / Leicester said it was his best day ever, he was buzzing from the atmosphere, the goals, and how nuts people were going compared to the more ‘reserved’ south east. was it just me, or was that penalty decision literally the worst ever?!? Who cares really given the result. so happy tonight.
  3. Why would either of you be talking about her in this context? Don’t understand it.
  4. Lots of stuff in the press down here about Everton being pish cos they couldn’t replace Lukaku, and United being pish when Pogba’s injured or suspended. I’d say that the big miss for us is that we’ve lost the first player deemed being worth big money for about 30 years. He was stalwart in a defence that was mean til the post-split games and scored 6 or 7 league goals. We’d probably be in the very mediocre pack with him still here. But take a £350k player out a team that is effectively worth next to nothing... plus a couple of key injuries... and it’s no surprise we’re... pish.
  5. Almost a carbon copy of previous seasons so far... terrible first cycle then strong recovery...
  6. Probably giving my age away here... first game in 1978. Rough McKinnon Dinnie Campbell Archibald Watson A. Craig Charnley Buckley Johnston Somner Subs Walker Taylor-Sinclair Paterson Park Melrose Dolan
  7. Always good to see players genuinely improve. Great attitude, great coaching and management. Let's be honest he was in the 'athlete' category when we first got him.
  8. Mo Johnstone Jim MacDuff-y Bridge of Allan Hansen Nelson Still Alan Edinb-Rough Colin Wester Hailes Jordan McMilan Chichester Charnley Gerry Britain Kilkenny Watson Johnny Kinbuckley Alan Dundee
  9. I was exactly the same and was gutted - what do I know?!!
  10. 2-0 home win v Motherwell in 78 or 79. Aged 7 or 8.
  11. I know we hate them but I thought that in the 80s and 90s they had a few players I'd have taken - Jamie Fairlie, Stevie Gray, Kenny Black (I know, but he could play a bit too), Innes McDonald, kenny McDonald, Coyle. Might have some of these wrong.
  12. Brilliant, well done Jags. Well done everyone connected to the club.
  13. That's prob bang on re the start. Fully agree about the manager and Paterson. Truly amazing. Assuming they get poached at some point with the proverbial financial offer they can't refuse - any thoughts on our plan B? So many poor managers who get job after job. Pretty sure our board will have a plan though.
  14. Yup fair point, not sure why I'm doing what ifs ... Should just be happy with us looking good for 6th - easily the best position from my Jaggy life.
  15. By my reckoning we had: - 7 points from 27 in the first 9 games - very bad. - 11 points from 27 in the next 9 games - average. So 18 points after 18 games - deep trouble. - 19 points from 36 in the last 12 games - probably only Aberdeen and Celtic have bettered a run like that this season. So if we avoided our usual terrible SPL opening couple of months, we could be ahead of Hearts and Saints. And god knows how many points we've lost to very late goals...
  16. What a fkn result that is. No words sufficient for the team and Archie.
  17. Says a huge amount for the system and the keeper
  18. Only three league teams in England had a lower attendance than us yesterday - Accrington, Rochdale, and Crawley. Ross County had more than us for their game versus St Johnstone not noted for their away support. Given that we've just gone 6th, this suggests some or all of the following: - it's too expensive. - it's rubbish. - it's not possible for Thistle to attract new fans no matter how well we do. I remember the guy who pumped money into Motherwell being gutted when their average crowd actually fell despite being in the top 3 for a couple of seasons. On the other hand Firhill was rammed for that great night when we beat Morton to pretty much guarantee promotion - only 4 years ago. Any hope?
  19. Played as a centre back at a decent then not good level over 20 years. At every level though the decent keeper is everything - confidence for the whole team starts at the the back. So does panic or unease.
  20. We should have about an extra 7-9 points but for last minute fiascos, which would make us safe already. If luck / discipline improves just a tiny bit we'll finish 6-8th. Most teams we play are the same or worse than us - e.g. Hearts. Our not very bad goal difference shows this once you take out OF results. We have the lowest / equal lowest wage bill. Folk like Lindsay are coming through. Archie must be doing a great job. No? Fckn genius!i think. Hearts were mugs not to try and get him, next lot won't be.
  21. Prob already a topic, sorry if so. My biggest worry.
  22. 1978 aged 7. A neighbour took me to a couple of games, 2-0 v Motherwell, 3-0 v Airdrie. Local team. My Dad (a Hibee from Embra) started going a bit too which meant away games at Cappielow and Love Sreet. Family in Airdrie so any Brookfield games too. First season ticket was a fiver! Started going away on the Summerston bus in about 1984 - Jim Brown and Gordon Boyd ran it in those days. Then Jamesie Barrie and Cat Harvey a bit later. Good times, despite lots of awful teams and results - think 3-7 v a Saints team that got relegated to the old division 2 was the worst. Bizarrely we also beat them 6-2 that season. Think we would have sunk a lot further without Kenny Watson who was our only good player for a while.
