  1. I'll concede that disaster was probably too strong a word but I still maintain it's bad news. We're scrimping and scraping to replace the Warriors income just to tread water in the 1st division. The current SPL clubs will all be in a similar boat to each other and despite cuts, still only have to be better than one crap team to avoid relegation. The gulf in financing is all that's keeping Killie, Motherwell and Utd in the so-called top division.
  2. This is a disaster for the likes of us, Falkirk and Accies. I was looking forward to a significantly reduced TV deal seeing the likes of serial cheats Motherwell, overspenders Killie and Dundee Utd and so on very quickly ending up in the "Slaters, Cut your Cloth, Scottish Professional Championship" where they actually belong.
  3. I thought their fans were excellent today. Only two incidents of mindless bigotry that I could hear. Knobs. Actually, the SFL has an almost unique prospect of being able to completely eradicate "party songs" within football grounds this season. A simple 1 point penalty for any recorded incidents could make the 3rd division much more interesting without anyone having to worry about jeapordising large TV deals.
  4. Sexy Lexy scored one of my favouritist Thistle goals ever at Hampden. So slow at getting back up the park from a goal kick that when the Queens Park keeper sclaffed the ball out it fell to Lex in acres of space. He still had the keeper to beat mind you
  5. OK, you think it's starting to look like a boycott, I don't. I certainly can't speak (write) for everyone but it's certainly not a boycott to me. It's a final admission that the game is dead. I know what you mean about the corruption and benefits to the top table, however, in the past that was always a perception. We could still fool ourselves into thinking it was an even sporting contest. What's about to happen will kill even that lingering naivety in me. Again, I'm not speaking for anyone else and I hope and pray that Thistle make the right decision in all this. I won't be holding my breath 'till next week though.
  6. This is not about a boycott, it's about a total feeling of "what's the ******' point of professional football in Scotland?" If there's no game/sport/contest, whatever you want to call it, then what is there to support?
  7. Another no. What I really really hate though is that apparently our game's administrators love money more than they love football.
  8. So where do TTFKAR fit in to that structure this coming season? If it's the bottom league that still keeps them out of the Land of Milk and Honey for two years. Is that some sort of compromise?
  9. On the subject of abstentions and how they count in a vote, would it be possible for an unscrupulous administrator (heaven forfend, I know) to pose the question in a manner where the abstentions effectively become yes votes rather than no votes? What I mean is rather than ask "can The Sevco join Division 1?" they ask, "do you object to The Sevco joining Division 1?" Just curious.
  10. Interesting. Now, if the SFL were truly run by people looking after the SFL's interests, they would completely ignore this for a few days, ban all Chairmen from making individual statements and issue a blanket "the SFL clubs are looking forward to the coming season which kicks off in a couple of weeks' time. Forthcoming fixtures can be found here..." type statement. Let them stew until they (the SPL and SFA) come back with something sensible. I'm so naive.
  11. Hot Potato is a nice description. I've been using "pass the parcel of shit" for a couple of weeks now. Anyway, this is not the SFL's problem if the SPL don't vote. The SFL has a fixture list and the cup draws have been made and can be fulfilled. What's the problem? There are no cyphers in the SFL. Bop.
  12. ...and instead damns the SFL chairmen. Good job.
  13. You could be right, I've no idea. Although as the overall governing body, isn't it the SFA who are in control of that sort of stuff?
  14. Green still has no licence so they could probably refuse to grant it in this case? It might be a political move to head off a percieved SPL power grab.
  15. On a secret ballot, by 9 votes to 3, with 6 chairmen all coming out of the meeting swearing blind they voted no. Brilliant. Maybe Petrie will demand a 2nd vote if that's the case...I won't hold my breath.
  16. And imagine my surprise when I read that the SPL might go to a secret ballot. This is hilarious.
  17. It could easily be summed up by the well known play ground phrase: if yer maw had baws... No shoite Sherlock. If every SFL club lost 60K, some of them might be in trouble. Thanks. Insightful stuff.
  18. Thanks for the link DU. Don't it make you proud to support Scottish football?
  19. Interesting indeed. I note with interest part way down the article wrt the SFL vote: " Even when the threshold figure for forcing through this “special case” scenario seems to have dropped from 23 clubs out of 30, to 16 clubs." Where did that come from? There's no further comment on it.
  20. To answer the actual question: hell freezing over. What would I accept reluctantly? Two leagues of 16 and regional leagues below. 2 up and 3 down automatically, play-offs for the final promotion spot for the 3rd to 6th teams in the 2nd teir. It's not rocket surgery. When will I get that? See answer above.
  21. Before this debacle I was considering a wee sponsorship for the coming season: shorts or boots. A clear statement will mean I carry through that threat.
  22. This isn't about punishing Thistle, or other clubs. Nor is it about boycotting Thistle, or other clubs. The simple fact is, if the rules are bent out of shape so egregiously to benefit one club, football is DEAD. What's the effing point of going? So what if there's no Thistle by 2013 in the OPs scenario - what exactly would we be competing for anyway?
  23. I thought we were training at Pollock Park this week. That's just up theroad. They could walk it from Ibrox then the Newco wouldn't have to round up investors for the taxi fare.
  24. I can't answer the poll as I've already got my Season ticket. This was based on a previous oath regarding the end of the previous chairman's reign. Here's another oath though: If we are complicit in allowing TTFKAR to parachute, rappel, abseil or otherwise drop into Division 1 I'll be posting it back with a polite request for a refund. I've been saying for weeks that Scottish football is a 2nd rate sport run by 3rd rate businessmen and administrators. If you take away the sport aspect, what's left? Of course this is far more eloquently put by the quote I've seen flying around recently regarding "look after the sport and the money will follow, look after the money and you'll kill the sport." If anything other than TTFKAR applying to the lowest teir of Scottish proffesional football happens, what's the point of any of us turning up either to play, support or run another football club?
