  1. Having yet to attend Firhill this season (bit of a nomad) my interest has been limited to TV and media reports. Obviously 3 seconds of highlights at the tail end of Sportscene gives little indication of our quality of lackthereof so the question lies:- Who are Thistle's best and worst players so far this season?
  2. We'll obviously play a lot more defensive this season, perhaps with even two sitting midfielders at times. And that's ignoring the fact he's simply a far better player than Kerr, Craigen, Murray, Welsh and Forbes.
  3. Training with Thistle allegedly, ex Aberdeen midfielder. Injury prone but hard as nails, was Aberdeens best midfielder when fit. Would be an excellent signing in a lightweight midfield
  4. Can tell you straight away Aberdeen havent even heard of Doolan. The rest is likely sh@te too!! Foxy won't go either, he's simply not any better than what's in the league above or the championship. Someone's been reading that "football rumours" website......
  5. None of the names indicated would be willing to be number two to a young manager at a middling first division team. Alternately, McNamara would naturally mistrust them, fearing they would take his job. Give the guy a full season at the very least. Technically, budget wise, we're punching above our weight.
  6. Does anyone know what kind of deal he's on? I'd agree with l.i.b, that if he's on a generous wage then we certainly need to consider funding other areas of the team where we're far shorter on bodies. That said, it may be the case that he's on little more than a standard "up and coming" youth contract. If that's the case then he'd perhaps be a risk worth taking. My god, he was chuffin dogs against Culter though
  7. I may be wrong, but hasn't it been suggested young Fraser may have a penchant for the odd hamburger? Or more succinctly, he's becoming a bit of a pork-meister?
  8. Great thread. The Walking Dead still seems to be a little "under the radar" for most - it doesn't seem to be on the agenda during the usual water cooler chats at work. A shame, as it's a great study in human behaviour. With zombies Why do so few watch this, contrasted against the millions who watch X-Factor? Has our cultures collective IQ fallen that low?
  9. I am trying Last time Jags were in the top flight my loyalties were divided - until around 5 minutes in. I won't tell you which way I swung
  10. Club Tropicana is a dreeeeaaaaammmmm

  11. Most of my family are central belters like yourself. Interestingly I find their accent as offensive as you find mine On the Jimmy Calderwood issue, the quality of football played in the last two years of his tenure was pretty abysmal even if results were only declining gradually. It was, just simply, time for a parting of the ways. Every manager has a shelf life. The problem was in his replacement, the abominably abysmal Mark McGhee, Aberdeens worst ever manager (even worse than Alex Miller....). It'll take a long time to sort the mess he left behind.
  12. I can't think of a single Dons fan who thought Lee Miller should start for Scotland! General consensus was although he was great at holding the ball up and terrific at flick ons, you could have opened a brothel next door to his house with free admission and he still wouldn't have scored...... Also the term "running in quicksand" was invented for him. For the record, I'm a lifelong Jags fan who now lives in the North East - as such I go to many Aberdeen games. I'm a football fan
  13. Well done in gaining access to information available to all via Google. And well done at looking at things so entirely simplistically you've missed the intrinsic point to much of the spending you've identified. Spending waste, whether at a high or a low level, needed to be identified and eradicated. We, as a country, have long since known this particular waste needed to caught and dealt with - for moral as well as financial reasons. And no, I've personaly never voted Blue, nor am likely to. However, this is an area the current government/coalition have my (and most fair minded individuals) full support in.
  14. Feel like thay have a divine right to success? Are you serious? They're one of the most knowledgable and articulate set of supporters I've encountered - delusion is rife amongst many, but not among the Aberdonians. They have (for a long, long time) had the 4th highest wage bill/budget in the country. To expect to be challenging at the other end of the table is obviously only natural.
  15. Why are Aberdeen a bad lot? Is it the shame their Euro success brought upon Scottish football? Their complete absence of nonsensical religious bile? Or just the fact they're based in the most affluent city in Scotland?
  16. Are you kidding? Those of us unlucky enough to have to work for a living (ie - we're not paid council workers) have been working outwith working hours for years, generations. Evenings, mornings, weekends. Not many take full lunch hours, if at all. And tea breaks? Are you kidding? It's called responsibility and hard work. This country if financially f*cked, and the sooner folk stop whinging about it and accept it the better.
  17. Conspiracy to keep Aberdeen up? I'd suggest the exact opposite is, and always has, been the case. Central belt bias rules, always has. I'm Aberdeen(shire) based too, and as much as I'd love a couple more local Jags games a season for me to attend, it's certainly not in Scottish footballs interest for such a big club to drop down. Can you imagine the sponsors/TV companies/etc when they watch Aberdeen drop out the league, to be replaced by a bunch of semi-bankrupt Highlanders with a non existent fan base?
  18. I'll take being wrong every week if we win :-) What a result!
  19. Sigh Clarkson has been presenting Top Gear in his own "inimatable" style for around a quarter of a century. He has written dozens of books. He writes weekly columns and reviews for News International (Sun and Times). This is his vernacular, albeit (like the vast majority of his opinions) it's been spouted for maximum shock effect. I pity the collective IQ of this country
  20. Always play form players, and as none are currently forwards the wise man would go with 4-5-1:- Fox Paton - Archie - Sinclair - Lindsay Cairney - Hutton - Rowson - O'Donnell - Erskine Doolan Obviously allows the wide men to push forward to make a 3 when pushing forward. Assuming Bannigan won't get many more runs outs after his uncanny imperswonation of the invisible man V Culter?
  21. Boo Mr M, it's Mr S. I've been allowed on at last!

  22. It's a confidence thing surely? Doolan is clearly our most capable striker, and is (for the most part) actually playing well. He's not scoring, but many more famous strikers than he have had longer barren runs. Dargo though. Seriously? Just say no kids.
