  1. They had a penalty shout- well their players claimed for it - 2 mins before & reckon Murrray keen to give that one. Higgy got wrong side but looked to me that the boy halfway down before contact made. Thought Murray had a shocker tonight- 1st half especially. Let a lot go in the middle of the park then gives a pen for their boy falling over. One other thing. The banner in the North Stand. Embarrassing. Captain. Leader. Legend nonsense. Did no one think that it had been done before & associated with John Terry? We had guys on here last week complaining about the huddle & yet they are probably the very same who produced the banner tonight. By all means show your support towards the manager if that's what you want to do but at least be original.
  2. Erskine had a poor game but to replace him with Elliot (he did even less). The thing about Erskine is he'll do nothing for best part of 89 mins but then give you that moment of sublime genius. Thought the substitution was fair but the wrong player replacing him. For what it's worth, I'm not sure he's 100% fit.
  3. It's an April Fool right? At worse 11 months too late & at best 5 months too late. Shows what a mess this club is behind the scenes!! What happened? Someone see this topic been bumped last week?
  4. You should release a DVD of last season's goals. I'm sure it'd be a winner.
  5. Nope. Quick turnaround before out for a couple of celebratory jars but my opinion not changed. If it hadn't been for tactical naïvety on the manager's behalf through the season then instead of celebrating a win tonight it could've been celebrating safety. Hoping the performance & result repeat next Griday. For what it's worth, delighted to see Craigen get a starting berth today. His energy in midfield could be crucial in the run-in.
  6. Quite right. & with all these faceless names etc like Ian_Mac who knows what you'll find. Keep reading about the dangers of the internet. Peados, abusers etc. Better safe than sorry. You've a different opinion so you're wrong. End of.
  7. He's a better fan than all of us so don't be telling him what to do!! He demands others post names but he's not even big enough to post an apology.
  8. Posted 07 April 2014 - 07:44 PM ian_mac, on 07 April 2014 - 07:36 PM, said: Some serious rewriting of history going on with regards to Dick Campbell. To compare him to Archiebald is nothing short of derogatory. Under DC, the league placings were clear. We were officially the worst full time team in Scotland. We fluked promotion by finishing 4th. To compare DC's promotion to Archie's is ridiculous. Campbell scraped through the playoffs against Stranraer and Peterhead. Archie actually WON the division, not the 2nd, the 1st. Our budget last season wasn't even in the top 5. We had no right to win that league last year - yet we did. And Archie was the manager for the most crucial period, achieving what Jackie couldn't - winning consistently away from home. Anyone who is comparing Archie to DC is nothing short of mentally unstable. Or the The Cup's case - bipolar.
  9. He also accused a poster of being 'bipolar' due to the fact he had a different opinion than his or indeed my have changed his opinion from a previous opinion.
  10. Why's that then? You're the man with plenty to say but can't admit when you've overstepped the mark yourself. Everyone else's opinion is wrong unless it agrees with yours?
  11. Where I understand where you're coming from, it's the use of the word 'disaster' in a figurative sense. Nothing will ever compare to going to a game of football & never coming home. We all know what happened 25 years ago & I'm sure those old enough can tell you exactly who we were playing that day & exactly what I was doing whilst listening to the events unfold (& it wasn't watching the game that was going on in front of me at Firhill). However, as a quick aside & tangent from this thread, I note you didn't choose to say anything about the comments from the poster 'Ian Mac' on mental health/illness at the beginning of the week when 'shouting down' those who had a different opinion on him re Archibald being the correct man to lead the club forward.

1 point from 12 leading up to the biggest 5 games of the season. 3 clean sheets all season. 2 home wins all seasons. All facts. Your 'red' answers are hilarious. You talk about natural formations but then pick a player in unnatural position. You say that playing Doolan in there gives us the option of playing 4-4-2. He's had all season to play 4-4-2 but haven't seen it yet to start a game. This despite saying in the ET about 6 weeks ago after the DU home draw that he'll use it when time is right. So with that in my mind does it not make more sense to start with the MF then if needs be bring on the striker? Then you have the cheek to say I have a lack of understanding? Anyway, I'll leave you to your party line.
  13. It was the poster Ian Mac who made the comments that I saw but as I said, wisely deleted even though apology has not been forthcoming. I also felt that Johnston & Wright were better options & that Gary Locke has learned 'the job' quicker than Archibald. Lennon I've said I feel did ok at Cowdenbeath but out his depth at this level- a bit like Archibald at the moment. The thing is, there is no vacancy at the moment but the last time the job was advertised we had a number of good & 'interesting' candidates including a former English premiership manager. Now, if there was a vacancy to arise & we were in the top league I think you'd be surprised at people who may be interested. Off the top of my head there are 2 managers who previously managed in the SPL & more recently the Championship who may be looking for a way back into football. Like I say though, hypothetical until there is a vacancy but I am willing to wager that we could attract.

Like you have chosen to ignore certain posts also I may add...
  15. Wisely I notice he's deleted that bit. No apology though. One thing disagreeing with someone else's opinion on here but another thing altogether to make light of mental health.
  16. It's a recurring theme on this thread. I wouldn't worry about it.
  17. Ah right. Explains a lot. You see the game's moved on a lot in the last 40 years. It's more about keeping fit & being able to run for 90 mins. It's about coaching as well. Also these days you have a technical area for the coaching staff (so called for the finer technical points of coaching) especially when things not going quite right for your team through a game! Finally the coach/manager has a pool of substitutes at his disposal of which he can use up to 3. You don't need to wait until someone is injured to do this & you find the more tactically astute managers use these to their advantage where possible. For example, playing midfielders in the midfield or putting a more defensive minded player on to try close out a game.

That's what Archibald did on Saturday & look what happened...

Here's me again. If it wasn't a surprise to Archibald that they equalised why did he stand impassive on the touchline doing nothing about it in the lead up? On the going 2 up front after they've gone 2-1 up... Why not play Doolan there to start with? He's a centre forward not a midfielder. Alternatively why not start a midfielder in there? Might have stopped them getting the foothold into the game in first place. We had 3 on the bench in Craigen, Moncur & Bauben. Truthfully. It looks to me like Doolan scored the equaliser up in Perth the previous weekend so he had to find a place in the team the following week. I find his comments & justifications/excuses baffling!!
  20. I take onboard what you say & Archie couldn't run on oitch etc but then he could have changed it after 30mins when the majority could see it was going wrong. Would that not have been his boot up backside? Failing that why not change it at HT? Why wait until. 3 minutes after HT when we go 2-1 down? If certain players aren't doing what he asked why is he not doing that ? Failing that why was he not giving them the boot up the backside from his technical area instead of leaning against dug out?
  21. 1 point from 12 so hardly waiting for a bad result. Haven't changed my mind since this thread first appeared but here's something. No name calling. No questions. Just some facts for those calling us 'doomsayers' etc. Since the start of November Played 22 Won 3 Clean sheets 2 Conceded 44 We're going into the final 5 games of the season where teams will take ponta of each other I know but I think we need 2 wins & maybe even a draw to finish above 11th. All those goals we've conceded on the last 5 mins of games is set to come back & haunt us. Playoffs beckon I think. Still think we've a good chance of survival but unless there's a vast improvement on the above you're not going to convince me he's the right man to take us to the next level. Like I've said, I hope I'm proved wrong but...
  22. I said I'm guessing he's not played football at a level above 5-a-sides. It may not have been phrased as a direct question but I was looking for a reply. & I think I said that there were different forms if motivation & not detracting from Archibald last season. & I have played senior football so know, yes.
  23. Erm... Is it not a school holiday?
  24. To be fair. You've a different opinion than him, like myself. That makes us (& the other 3 apparently) wrong & him right. Forget the fact it's a forum, it's more like a lodge!!!
